Cottrel

the Cottrel family are synevives in Marn. They are a politically significant family.

Formed mostly of busybody bureaucrats, the Cottrel family are steeped in Puradynic beliefs. They are a large family, with several generations taking up various low level positions within the Civic Services, the highest being within the tax section of the Ministry of Finance. They also have a few sons and daughters in the Guard, though not in any notable positions. While their politics are internally often divided, the family matriarch firmly controls their public image as devoted civil servants who believe in human rights above all others and strive to keep the city running smoothly and safely. While they themselves do not hold much political power, they have strong public influence over anti-magic human supremacists. Due to their golden reputation among this subset, they do have some pull with more politically powerful families who want their public support in order to gain more public influence. The positions they hold as tax auditors tend to make them particularly disliked by business oriented families.

The Cottrels are a moderately sized family. The family sense of honor and duty is considered to be extremely important (even if politics and views don't always match up), and as a result there are always a few black sheep in the family who do not conform to the standard. In a social sense, they are often not well liked among their peers, though they are politically astute enough to navigate around this. They are typically disliked by business oriented families.

The Cottrels are primarily allied with the Mornirs. Their primary enemies are the Calders and Merynirs.
