Inari

inari is an Astral being who exists primarily in the Astral Realm but maintains an intimate tie with the kitsune species. Details regarding how or when Inari came to be are not known. As with all things related to Inari, there is a wide variation of stories and beliefs surrounding him/her with only a handful of constants and common beliefs. The most accurate description of Inari is that he/she is a trickery deity, or trickster god, who thrives on mischief and can never be pinned down to a single form or presence.

In some cultures, specifically true kitsune culture, Inari is seen as a God, Goddess, or deity with exceptional abilities and a wide variation of wants and wishes. The reality of what or who Inari is is not known, and due to the magical nature of Inari, can never be proven or disproven.

Most individuals who encounter her do not view her as a trickster. Inari uses this to her advantage, and has a habit of appearing as something exactly opposite or different than her viewer expects. It may not even be apparent that it is Inari at all.

Common Beliefs

the most common belief of Inari is as a mother of the kitsune race. Her most common form of appearance is a female nine-tailed kitsune, often white. Kitsunes believe she is the highest ranked and the original of all kitsunes. She is seen as the ancestor of all kitsunes, and may even have created every true kitsune from before the Seal.

Inari is often labeled as a Harvest God or a God of Rice. Some Tian Xia religions include her in their deities. The most obvious religion she is included in is the kitsune religion, called simply the Inari faith.
