Name: Jing
Age: 23
Race: Goblin
Height: 4'2"
Weight: 6 stone
Physical Description: As a member of the goblin race Jing conforms to a number of their stereotypes. He is short, green and hideously ugly by any human standards. His skin is a slightly darker shade of green than most others of his race and stained all over with crude goblin runes that Jing believes gives him a suitably ominous air. His mouth is wide and filled with viscous little teeth. It is also almost constantly fixed into a mad grin, made all the more disturbing by the pair of glittering red eyes that stare out from above it.
His most prominent piece of clothing is the oversized black coat he wears. It once belonged to the human that taught Jing the arts of necromancy. The humans ownership of the coat came to an abrubt end though. Coincidentally this was at the exact moment his goblin apprentice slid 13 inches of cold steel between his shoulders and out of his chest. The bottom of the garment is ripped and frayed from dragging across the floor, so that now it is more or less the right length. Its collar is stiff and shadows the entire bottom half of Jings face. Inside the coat the goblin keeps an assortment of mangled body parts and vials filled with all manner of disgusting fluids for use in his art.
Jings hair was originally black but numerous experiments and spells gone wrong have cause almost half of it to take on random colours, from pure white to florescent blue. Calling it a tangled mess is like saying being decapitated would cause you a bit of a problem.
Possessions: Jing possesions amount to little more than the essentials for his craft. Being chased out of your home has a funny way of leaving you with only your most essential items. He has a wand used for focusing his magical energies. It is crafted from a human thigh bone and has 3 impressive black feathers tied to its end. The runes carved into it pulse with crimson energy whenever Jing is using it as a magical focal point. He also has a selection of knives and rudimentary medical equipment. These are used on his undead constructions and his wickedly sharp sacrificial blade makes a fine last resort weapon. Inside of his long coat he stores all manner of body parts, necromantic fluids and other tools. He also has a pouch full of glittering crystals of an unknown origin. With these he pursues his obsession. Many people collect things as a hobby, hunters even keep the heads or pelts of their preys as proof of their achievements. Far more sinister than this is Jing's hobby. He collects souls. Not any soul will suffice but the souls of people with unusual magical are prized by the wandering necromancer and he already has a number stored safely in the folds of his coat.
Powers or Strengths: Jing uses the powers of necromancy. This vein of magical powers consists of a number of curses, hexes and corpse animation magic. Amongst other things this allows Jing to animate corpses into minions that do his bidding. This generally is used to create horrific warriors that can fight on the necromancers behalf. Jing has refined this spell to the point where if he concentrates on a single corpse he can actually manipulate it to act like a normal living person. This allows him to use fresh corpses to go into towns and find potential targets for his collection. This technique is by no means perfect however. Corpses controlled in this manner sometimes spasm alarmingly as Jing's concentration lapses and they never loose the stench of the grave. Their voice is also always that of Jing himself and his shrill tones can be incredibly out of place coming from a fully grown human
Weaknesses: Being a Goblin Jing is physically frail and even amongst his kind he is considered a weakling. His shattered mind also occasionally has trouble focusing on the spells he tries to cast or maintain. This can lead to his spells fizzling into nothingness and has occasionally even caused them to come out as something totally unexpected. He also suffers from intense paranoia which prevents him from forming any lasting friendship or other kind of relationship.
History: Jing hails from a small group of Islands called the Devils Teeth. They are situated in the sea between The Great Scar and Keltaris. The Goblinoid tribes of this island chain once lived as any others of their race. Petty squabbles and minor acts of sin were the order of the day and they quietly kept to themselves; content to hurt each other and leave the outside world alone. One day this simple equilibrium was shattered when a human necromancer arrived on the Islands. His origin was unknown but his undead hordes quickly overran and subjugated the greenskins. Although the goblins numbers were vast Jing's kinsmen could not grasp the concept of co-operation and so they were defeated, afraid and alone.
After his successful take over of the Devils Teeth the Necromancer used the goblins in conjunction with his unholy abominations to raid nearby settlements and merchant vessels and soon the sight of a ship crewed by goblins and teeming with undead monsters became an all to common sight in the surrounding sea's. One young goblin caught the necromancers eye quiet by accident. Jing was part of a raiding party much like all of his kin and he took part in an attack on a fleet of lumbering merchant vessels laden with prizes. Unbeknownst to the attackers the simple goods vessels were actually fitted with hidden cannons and their crews were highly trained mercenaries in disguise. A world apart from the pathetic peasants the Goblins had expected.
Although powerful and relentless the Undead acompanying Jings crew were nearly totally mindless without their creator to guide them and so they charged the ships with no though to anything other than feeding. It appeared the day was lost for the attackers as the merchants easily tricked the undead into impossible fights. From nowhere The young and untrained Jing appeared and proceeded to do something that no Goblin had ever done before. He harness the undead through mere strength of will and managed to direct them with at least a modicum of stratergy. This sudden unexpected change proved too much for the defending mercenaries and their screams of fear and pain lasted long into the night.
This suprising occurence pleased the Human necromancer and he immediately took Jing in as his apprentice. The young goblin picked up on the dark arts of undeath with surprising speed and surpassed all the expectations of his teacher. If he could look back now the human would realize quite to what extent Jing had learnt necromancy. Believing he had gained all he needed from the human, Jing crept silently into his masters chambers one night. The man had placed numerous hexes and servants about his sleeping form to protect him but one by one the goblin diffused each layer of defence. eventually Jing made it to the bed side and his shrill laughter rang through the air as he brutally murdered the human with a longsword stolen from one of the very skeletal guards that were supposed to protect him.
After this treacherous move Jing took over where his dead master had left off for a time, manipulating the humans corpse to make it appear he was still the one in charge. This didn't last for long though. Eventually the goblins gained enough courage and numbers to overthrow the necromantic regime. Fortunately for Jing none of them were aware it was really him in control and before anyone figured it out he fled. The abominations he summoned managed to help him sail his stolen ship far enough to get to the mainland but their dull minds and sluggish fingers didn't have the skill needed to land the ship and so the vessel was lost. Shattered into a thousand pieces on the rocks to the far south of Thar Shaddin.
Ever since that day Jing has wondered at random throughout the world causing trouble and gathering souls for his collection. he always travels roughly north, worried he may be being pursued and this wandering has now brought the viscous little necromancer to Thar Shaddin.
