Player Name: Michael Meunier
Name: Finner
Age: 33
Race: Gnome
Height: 3' 2"
Weight: 42 lbs.
Physical Description:
Finner normally appears somewhat unkempt and unorganized. His jet black hair is generally pulled back into a loose pony tail and is normally very oily. His features are somewhat worn for someone of his years, but this comes from years of hard work. His face is usually covered in soot, grease, or something of that sort. He's normally seen wearing a greasy leather apron over simple work clothes though he does own and occasionally wears some nicer things, generally in blue and metallic gold. A shiny silver watch constantly hangs from his hip.
Posessions: (anything they own or keep on their person)
Lathander - The Lasander is, quite simply, a blimp. The 225' long airship serves as both Finner's home and primary means of transport. The gasbag is decorated with a pattern of runes in blue and gold, the largest of these is Finner's personal rune, a rather stylized "F". The Gonodla runs most of the length of the vehicle and contains the complex (even for a gnomish invention) engine in the rear, a cargo hold containing both food supplies as well as a myriad of parts and half finished machines. The cargo hold also contains Finner's traveling workshop. His rather sparsely furnished and messy living quarters are next in line. The very front of the Lasander houses the cockpit, where Finner can be found when he's not in his workshop.
Some of the gizmos that Finner carries aboard the the Lasander include:
* A half finished Motorcycle like vehicle, though it appears needlessly complicated
* A selection of specialty ammunition for crossbows and arrows. These include exploding bolts, flashbang arrows, bolts that break apart and create a net, and similar such bolts.
+ Finner also carries, when he sees it necessary, a pair of pistols at his hips and owns a crossbow with a series of sights and other gizmos attached to it.
+Finner almost always carries a silver plated watch with a small sapphire on the face
Powers or Strengths:
+ Finner is quite simply a mechanical genius. He learned from the best mechanics in his home city and has surpassed even their creations. He built Lil, his assistant, from scratch and finished building the Lasander, one of the larger airships at least he'd ever seen after his father gave up on it.
+As a traveling merchant/mechanic/tinkerer Finner has rather deep pockets. However, much of his money goes into building newer and better machines.
+Finner has a rather keen mind for numbers and can do even complex calculations in short order
+Finner has a nearly photograhic memory
Weaknesses:
+ Finner seems to care more about his creations then himself, therefore he always appears messy and he tends to work himself to exhaustion on a regular basis
+ Finner is somewhat uncomfortable in large crowds and thus tends to avoid certain social situations
+Finner has a tendancy to focus so much on fine details he can lose sight of the big picture
+Finner is somewhat scatterbrained and tends to have alot of half finished projects but he has difficulty working on one task to completion without some sort of motivation.
History:
Seemingly since the day he could walk Finner had a wrench in his hands. Finner's parents, Lyrissa and Valn, were both well known tinkerers in the city of Kaldair, a city of about 30,000 people mostly consisting of gnomes, dwarves, and humans. They were known for making the most complex and amazing devices and specialized primarily in wheeled vehicles and human shaped automotons for a variety of purposes. Their home was always filled with half finished machines and various parts. Finner was a rather curious lad and was always poking around the shop until he was old enough to formally start an apprentiship outside the house.
In Kaldair getting an apprentiship with a good mechanic wasn't hard, but the apprentice was expected to work very hard. Finner's teacher, though his parents would have been perfectly good one, was an older gnome named Reshar. He worked Finner very very hard but the young man was up to the challenge. Reshar was pleased with Finner's performance and therefore taught the young gnome everything he knew. Before settling down in Kaldair Reshar had been a traveling merchant and also frequently regaled the young Finner with tales of the places he'd been and the machines he'd seen. Finner was particularly interested in the tales of the great airships Reshar had traveled in and seen in other places. Finner's parents had been working on building such a vehicle in a warehouse next door to their home but they'd never gotten the engine quite right and the first two they'd built had never gotten off the ground. Just after Finner completed his apprenticeship, his mother had just finished the engine for a third, but when she went to test it, the device exploded and she was severely injured.
Even though his mother recovered, neither her nor Finner's father had any desire to make another attempt. They still had the frame for the blimp built in the warehouse. Finner asked to see their plans for the blimp engine and though Valn warned him against it, he saw no reason not to deny Finner's curiosity. After looking over the plans and comparing them to some things Reshar had shown him, Finner went to work on the engine in his spare time while working in his parent's shop, during which time he built his first automoton, Lil. He was driven by a desire to see the world and he fealt finishing the airship was the best way to accomplish those dreams. After about 2 years of tinkering and testing, Finner told his parents he thought he had the engine right and asked if he could install it in the blimp. They reluctantly agreed and with a bit more tweaking his parent's airship, something they had worked on for a decade, finally took flight. His parents were so impressed by their sons work and his desire to travel that they gave him the blimp and enough money to convert it into a roving workshop and to get him started in his own business. From that day Finner has been traveling all over selling his wares to a wide variety of buyers as well as fixing other gnomish gizmos.
Along the way, he met a young human lad named Ramas. Ramas was recently orphaned and normally Finner wouldn't have bothered with such a person. However, entirely by accident, Finner found out the 11 year old boy had a knack for mechanics that equaled a gnome of the same age. Since the boy probably would have starved otherwise Finner took the boy on as an assistant/apprentice/servant. He's been with Finner ever since and is now 13.
Finner
The character looks alright but I'm afraid an automaton is too much for even the best of gnomes. I can't see them making artificial intelligence or talking machines so I'm going to ask that Lil be removed.
I am willing to let you not list everything in the workshop since that would be difficult to do and limit creative possibilities, but no things like gyrocopters, tanks or heavy weapons can come out of there if they're not listed.

The world is an arena, not a stage. RP is a stage, not an arena.
Ok, I'll accept it. The special ammo and other gadgets are all in the blimp, so you can't use them in a thread unless he specifically takes them from the blimp ahead of time. There are obviously also limitations on the kinds of ammunition he has. Aside from those listed, I would only accept very minor specialty items and nothing too significant or it would have to be listed.
Also, the pistols are single shot devices that require time to reload.
