Character Name: Vallen
Age: 21
Race: Human
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 156 lbs

Physical Description:
Vallen is a human of few years, though those years have been spent working in the woods as a hunter. His skin is freckled and almost constantly burned from the harshness of his working environment. His arms and legs were toned from the work that wielding a bow brings and his blue eyes were bright with youth and hopefulness. The sun reflected off of his vibrant, copper hair to match the vibrant smile that shone from under the young man's goatee almost constantly.

He commonly wears an attire of brown cloth and leathers. This is not to say that he is dull person. Brown clothes are easy to make, as one didn't have to worry about dyes, and they hide dirt extremely well. The outfit consists of a sleeveless cloth shirt (no sleeves to get in the way of arrows), and leather pants. His pants have many pockets that the hunter keeps stocked full of food for himself, and bait for the various game that he hunts. His lower legs and feet are protected by a pair of tall, leather boots. They are worn out and have been patched to keep them wearable. Around his neck and shoulders, Vallen wears a green, hooded cloak made of dyed leather. This helps keep the sun off of the young man and the elements off of his body in the cold. His arms are guarded by a pair of bracers that taper off into fingerless gloves.

He carries with him wire snares for trapping, and a ten inch, hunting knife, which is useful for ending the suffering of a downed animal, and for skinning said animal afterwards. Then is the hunter's pride and joy: his bow. This short, hunting bow is made of dark-stained yew. Around its haft is wrapped a thin piece of leather for a grip, and strung from end to end is a thin string of animal sinew. Slung in a quiver are seven iron tipped arrows, which are carved out of solid hickory and are fletched with the tail feathers of wild fowl.

Possessions:
Bow and Arrows - The hunter's pride and joy: his bow. This short, hunting bow is made of dark-stained yew. It is sixty four inches in length with a draw length of twenty six inches and a draw weight of sixty pounds. Around its haft is wrapped a thin piece of leather for a grip, and strung from end to end is a thin string of animal sinew. Slung in a quiver are seven, iron tipped arrows which are twenty six inches in length and are carved out of solid hickory and are fletched with the tail feathers of wild fowl.

Hunting Knife - Vallen always carries his hunting knife with him, whether he is in the forest or in the tavern. It is ten inches in length, six of it being a folded steel blade, while the other four inches are made from a deer's antler. The hilt is curved slightly and fits naturally into the hunter's hand.

Waterskin - This cured sheep's stomach is Vallen's source of water in the fields. It has a small wooden nozzle on the tip of it that can be capped, forming a perfect vessel in which Vallen can store his water. It even has as bit of twine around the nozzle so Vallen can tie it to his belt.

Wire Snares - Vallen keeps several wire snares on his person. These he uses to catch small game like squirrels and rabbits. When one of these creatures runs through the snare and part of its body catches the wire, the snare tightens around the creature until it either slices into a major blood vessel or until it suffocates, killing it either way.

Trail Rations - Though he is not on a traveling trail, the young hunter keeps a small collection of dried fruits and meats with him. He burns a lot of energy hunting and needs to keep his body replenished with food so that he may continue to hunt down animals.

Hovel - On the outskirts of the village of Shim, Vallen has a small home. It is a tiny, one room house made from wooden logs and dried mud. Inside the hovel is a bed of blankets, a small table with a single chair, and a fire pit that lights up the house from the center of the room. Outside, behind the hut, stands an outhouse and a well, as well as a small smokehouse. There are often skins curing on several racks that lean against the walls of the hovel.

Bishani - Vallen has earned just a few hundred bishani from all of his hunting. He hunts, firstly, to feed himself, and once his food supplies are filled, he sells the surplus of his efforts. He sells first to the village people before heading to the city to sell his wares.

Powers or Strengths:

Hunter - Vallen has dedicated much of his life to hunting. He was taught to hunt by his father, who was taught by his father before him. They, like a lot of people in the village of Shim, have to do what they can to survive. Never being one to sit idly by while crops grew, Vallen felt comfortable in the forests tracking game. He has trained for many hours with his bow, and has honed his craft that he can down a deer with one deft shot.

Survivalist - For what can be accumulated into years, Vallen has spent much time out in the woods. As such, he has learned how to survive in the wilderness. He recognizes the plants that are safe for consumption in Thar Shaddin and knows generally which plants to stay away from. He his also comfortable sleeping on the hard ground or up in a tree, away from predators, without having to have the luxuries of a tent or a bed roll. This also goes for fire. Though the hunter knows how to light one with material he can find in the forest, he can exist without it.

Courageous - The forest outside the village is a dangerous place. There are rumors and evidence of foul creatures that lurk in the shadows of the leaves that will maim and kill people who are unaware or are unable to defend themselves. Despite this, Vallen hunts in these forests. Some say he does it out desperation, but he likes to believe that he is just braver than his naysayers. He was taught how to hunt in those woods by his father and has hunted there his whole life.

Weaknesses

Poor - Hunting is not a glamorous or prosperous profession. Vallen has just barely enough wealth to survive, living mostly off of the game that he kills and the wild fruits and vegetables that he forages out of the forest. His clothes are patched and sewn together from scraps of other clothing. His house is a small hut that accurately demonstrates the lack of bishani that the hunter has in his possession.

Superstitious - Part of what allows Vallen to be so courageous in the forest is his superstitious beliefs. While he is proud of his achievements in the forests, he is immensely ashamed of his superstitions, though he will not give up on them, for fear of what might happen if he did. These superstitions are easily observable when anyone or anything magical is about. (FINISH)
