Avalon Lynnette Yesolde

Post by Avalon » Tue Nov 20, 2012 2:51 pm

Name: Avalon Lynnette Yesolde
Preferred Names: Avalynn
Reason For Preferred Name: She is hiding from the government. Her family were once a line of powerful mages - magic runs in her blood, and she is the only living Yesolde left, and the government knows it. But, because her family drew their power from each other, meaning the more Yesoldes there were together, in one place, the stronger they became. Because of this, her magic is weak. One of the well-know traits of a Yesolde is their green eyes and blond hair.
Age: Sixteen
Hair: Goldenspun blond
Eye: Deep green
Description: Avalynn is a petite young woman with ivory skin. Her goldenspun hair frames her deep green eyes with those fair curls. Her lashes are long, and she usually keeps them lowered over her eyes, which would give her away. She usually wears elegant dresses, and plays the role of a rich lady.
Race: Human
Maiden Name: Yesolde
Relationship Status: Single
Magic: She is mainly affiliated with the magics involving fire or nature. She doesn't understand her fire magic, and so, uses her 'natural' magic. She can make plants grow, where she steps the land flourishes.
EG: She has a slight affinity to fire and one toward Mother Earth.
Combat Abilities: She has no combat abilities.. She does not know how to fight, truly.
Secret Powers: She has the ability to grow flowers with a single touch.
Weaknesses and Flaws: Avalynn has a fear of fire, yet she is able to control it, sometimes. She has a rather huge fear of the government, and has another fear of being caught. She is headstrong, and believes she can do everything she puts her mind to. If she uses her 'natural' power too much it will drain her. It takes a piece of her everytime she uses it.
History: Avalynn stared up at her father, the Lord of the house, pouting. "But, Papa! Have I not been what you wish me to be? I went to class!" The child pouted as her father chuckles, "Show me what you learned, m'lady." The small girl beamed upward, and held her palms out, glancing around the gardens with a slight smile. Plant-life began to move toward the girl, to reach out to her. "Good job, Avalon!" Crowed her father, Lord Tybalt. As a woman came into the gardens, the child threw her arms around her fathers leg. "Thank you, Papa!" The woman's voice rang out; "Tybalt? What are you doing out here with Avalon?!" The woman's voice was shrill, and caused Avalon to flee behind her father. "Mama, Papa said I could come out..." The woman, Lady Gaywan, jerked the child roughly by her arm. "No! Get back inside!" She shoved Avalon toward the manor, turning on her husband. "Tybalt! Letting her do magic out here?! In view?!" She shouts, though Avalon couldn't hear it. She was inside, running up the many stairs to her room, tears streaming down her fair face.

A few months later

Her parents were going out. She could hear them getting ready, she could imagine herself going with them, but instead, Avalon gazed into the air, sighing. They had boarded up the windows for this outing. This meant they wouldn't be back tonight.. "Avalon! Do come here," called her mother. The child stood, her gaze lowered to the floor. She obediently made her way to her parents, her hands clasped before her. Tybalt bent to whisper, "Avalon? Milady, are you ready for your birthday?" Gaywan laughed, as her daughter jumped with a start. She had forgotten it was her own birthday! Oh! "I am, Papa! I am!"

This would be her sixth summer! The age that all her siblings had been able to go into town! Gaywan shifted, holding out a hand. "Come now, dear. It shall be your first day on the town!" Avalon beams, moving to take her mothers hand delicately. Tybalt stood, calling for a maid. "I wish her to be dressed in a gown worthy of her status," he demanded. The maid took Avalon, who went with her reluctantly, upstairs. Once there, a dress fit for a princess was taken out of the vanity. The child gazed at the dress in awe, as her maid undressed her swiftly. "Behave yerself, milady." The maid whispered, quickly doing the child's hair up with a circlet.

Avalon took off downstairs, keeping her dress as clean and perfect as was possible for a six-year-old. She was excited! Her parents were whispering; she knew it was about her older siblings - there were fifteen of them all together, and Avalon was the youngest and the last. Her parents stopped whispering, giving the child fake smiles.

Avalon chose to say nothing; simply accepting her fathers offered arm. Gaywan brought a topic long left behind, "Tybalt? Have you decided upon a proper family for her to marry into?" Tybalt shrugged, as he led his wife and child to the carriage.

He helped his wife in first, and than his daughter, and than he got in himself. As the carriage started down the long road that led to town, the family was quiet.

As the silence grew to strong, her parents paying her no mind, the child began to amuse herself with her magics. Flowers grew upon her fingertips, roots spread up her arms, and it was only when her mother noticed that the plants began to wither; something they have never done before. "Avalon Lynnette! What did I tell you about magic?!" That shrill voice shouted.

Heads turned, eyes followed the carriage. Gaywan had just told the entire countryside they were magical! Tybalt ordered the driver to go faster; they couldn't turn back now, surely someone had summoned someone from the government. It was no secret the Yesolde family was magical, to the government at least, but it was a secret they had another child. The first fourteen had all been taken to work and be raised inside the governments watchful gaze. Avalon was a mistake and a secret. Her parents knew if she was found she would be slaughtered.

As they entered town, the child was ordered to silence. The Lord and Lady stepped off the carriage, keeping the drapes closed. As they did so, Avalon snuck a peek outside. Her parents were speaking to an old, wizened man. He was probably a Mage. It was always Gaywan and Tybalt's plan to send her away to the Forest at the age of six, so she might live.

"Avalon, you can come out now," called her father. The child was helped from the carriage, only to see her parents get in, and the carriage speed away. The wizened man bent to comfort the now crying child. "Do not worry, Avalynn," he whispered, his voice rough and dry.

"Your mother and father will come see you, I promise."

Ten years later

As Avalon remembered that day, the day her parents left and Wygon took her in, she brushed tears from her eyes. That was the day she became Avalynn, just Avalynn. "Avalynn," rasped the old man, as he came to a stop behind her. "I need help."

The girl was thrown from her memories, as her teacher caled for her. Standing swiftly, she moved after him. "Is it the garden again, Wygon?" She questioned, as they made their way past the garden.

"Aye, m'lady." The man whispered, gesturing to the infested garden. It was a beautiful sight to both girl and man, but it was trul overrun with weeds. "I shall take care of it, Wygon."

The man offered a smile, coughing as he passed. Slight worry creased ivory features, though she knew he would not allow her to help him. He was able to care for himself.

As Wygon disappeared into the house they lived in, Avalynn set off to manage the garden. Within two hours time the garden was good as new.

As her 'chores' were finished, Avalynn moved back toward the run-down shack she shared with the man. Her green eyes alighted upon the fallen figure of Wygon, the girl gave a quiet little gasp. "Wygon!" The man gave her no answer, no breath entered his body.

In a few moments he did breathe, only to whisper, "Money... Yours.. Never forget." She knew what he meant. She was to never forget her family, him, her name, her airs. She was to move on, and go into the world for the first time.

As she gazed at the dead mans body, her steps were swift. The young woman started to gather her things, not allowing herself to cry. She would never let a tear slip her eye.

Three months later

Avalynn was heading home, she had to get home. Surely her parents would accept her back with opened arms? Despite the fact it's been ten years. Well.. She didn't know where home was.

Where did one find the Yesolde manor when one has never left it but one time, and has never gone back? The young girl sighed, wandering the town she was in, with some name she never heard.

Hey Avalon. Welcome to Thar.

First of all, I'll request that you set out your application in the same format as the other apps. Refer to the layout at the bottom of this page: http://www.tharshaddin.com/rules/Character_Creation. Space it out a bit and maybe double check the spelling and grammar. If she has any possessions, list those as well.

In regards to her powers, you're going to have to be more specific about what they actually do. Explain the limitations of her powers in detail, perhaps also giving examples of how/when she might use them.

I don't have time right now to go into her history, other than to say ten years is a long time for someone who's only sixteen - that's two whole thirds of her life missing - so you're going to have to explain what she was up to while she was living with Wygon. You're also going to have to explain more about her parents: where they came from, why they were allowed 14 children but not a 15th, what their connection is with Wygon, and so on.

Just start with the changes I've mentioned and post here to let us know when you update your app. After that, we can review your app more thoroughly.
