Elsha Kichi

Post by ElshaKichi » Sat Jul 11, 2009 2:11 am

Name: Elsha Kichi (El-shuh Key-chee)
Nickname: Lucky
Age: 20 (appears somewhere around 16-18)
Race: Elven
Powers:
Luck--This isn't in Elsha's favor. To others, she's kind of a Good Luck Charm, because she absorbs all Bad Luck. Everyone around her will find good fortune for as long as she's present, while she takes on all the Bad Luck. It makes her life rather difficult, but she manages.
Shields--Elsha is decent with Shield, though she's not anything special. This coupled with her Luck powers makes her good to have around in battle. You'll be lucky around, and she can keep herself safe from her Bad Luck.
Fireballs--Elsha's only offensive power that she's skilled in. You don't want to be around her when she starts firing these off. They're really a force to be reckoned with.
Strengths:
Tough--Elsha doesn't let people walk over her.
Fast--Elsha's good at running from things.
Observant--Not much gets past Elsha.
Calculating and Careful. She can't be rash, because it could easily get her killed. She takes time in making decisions.
Weaknesses:
Magic--Outside of shields and fireballs, Elsha is pretty horrible at magic, especially the offensive type. She has little control and most of her magic is a product of emotion, so it's unreliable. The Luck thing is completely out of her control. She came to Marn, because magic's banned there, so she won't feel as much of a disgrace there when no one's using it.
Her mouth--Elsha can't keep her mouth shut most of the time. You don't want to tell her your secrets.
Flaws:
Stubborn--Her way, or the highway.
Sarcastic--She tends to get herself in trouble with this.
Secretive--While she can't keep others' secrets, Elsha's very good at keeping her own. Most people get the sense that she's hiding something, which makes her hard to trust.
Possessions:
Necklace--This is from her mother. It's a silver chain with a small vial on the end containing a single, undying shamrock. Her mother gave it to her as a way to control her Bad Luck absorption, and Elsha never takes it off.
Her "Good Luck-Pouch"--This is a small bag filled with various good-luck charms. Rabbits' feet, Horseshoes, Feathers, etc. Anything she finds that can be considered lucky, she throws in it. This is also always on her person. She thinks it helps her remain at least luck-less.
Throwing Knives--Her weapon of choice, always kept in her boots. She has killer aim.
Dagger--Her last resort. She doesn't carry swords or other heavy weapons, because there's too much that could go wrong with them, especially with her Bad Luck.

Appearance: Elsha is of average height and build for an Elf. In fact, she's pretty average all around. She has dark brown hair and caramel-colored eyes. She's on the paler side, which is only enhanced by the streak of bold color she keeps in her hair. It's only ever one streak, though she likes to change it's color and position often (with magic, of course). Typically though, it's a bold green color found bordering the left side of her face. She thinks green is luckiest and likes it on the left most. The only other notable thing about her appearance is that she almost always has on boots of some sort, though never the tall, fitting kind. Just short, stocky, mostly combat-style boots. She likes them.

History: Elsha grew up outside of Marn, in a clan of Elves where her family was very prominent. The Kichi's were known for their abilities to manipulate luck for themselves and, if they trained hard enough, others that they know well. As Elsha grew, however, it soon became apparent that she lacked this talent. Or, rather, had it in a different manner. But that's getting ahead of things.

As it is, Elsha grew up as the black sheep of her family. Her younger sister, Maeve, had the Luck powers of the family to their fullest extent and was regarded as a prodigy by many of the clan. Because of this, Elsha was mostly ignored by her father, who focused on honing Maeve's powers. Her mother was left "to deal with the girl" as her father often put it, and she did so willingly and lovingly.

As a young girl, Elsha became very passionate, according to her mother. This, though, was really just a nice way of saying she had a wicked temper. Often teased by the other young children for her lack of magical skills, she lashed out with the only real power she had any aptitude for: throwing fireballs. And she was good at it, too. People soon learned not to upset her, because her fireballs rarely miss.

However, at thirteen, Elsha's father's attitude towards her suddenly shifted. He began spending time with her whenever he could, and he began training her in casting Shields. You see, he had discovered that Elsha, while she didn't have the Good Luck powers that Maeve did, she had the equivalent amount of Bad Luck powers to her sister's powers. He had noticed that whenever Elsha was with her friends, all her friends seemed to have an immensely easy time, while she tripped, fell, ruined her clothes, lost important items, etc. In fact, the girl was just remarkably unlucky, the opposite of the family.

After much thought, he finally put together that Elsha absorbed Bad Luck in the same way the rest of the Kichi's absorbed Good Luck. Unfortunate for her, but possibly very useful for him. After all, if Elsha were absorbing all the bad luck of their warriors in territorial battles they were constantly fighting, they'd be unbeatable. As long as she could Shield herself properly, that is.

So, for the next few years, Elsha trained in Shielding with her father, and became fairly skilled in the area, though far from great at it. As she had been ignored for so long, her magical abilities are much less impressive than most Elves, and she struggles with it most times. Her only talent in magic worth mentioning is her Fireball work. It was during this time that her father coined her nickname, Lucky, as a joke at how often things seemed to go wrong for her.

The night before Elsha turned fifteen, however, her mother awoke her very early in the morning. Once Elsha was properly awake, she explained the military plans her father had for her and told her she had to leave if she wanted to avoid it. She could go to Marn, where her lack of magical ability wouldn't be noticed, as magic was banned. So, Elsha left with only the few belongings she could fit into her knapsack and boots. Just before she set out, her mother gave her the Undying Shamrock necklace that she wears to this day. It off-sets her Bad Luck absorption so she can lead at least a Luck-less life.

She arrived in Marn a year later (having gotten lost a fair number of times), and has remained there ever since. She finds work where she can, and is notorious within her block of housing as a superstitious freak of sorts, because she collects anything that can be considered a Lucky Charm and keeps them in a small pouch that she ties around her wrist.

Personality: Elsha is very...passionate, to put it nicely. Every emotion she feels, she feels intensely and deeply, and you never have to guess what it is. Because of this, she has a terrible temper, which was usually accompanied by a few choice Fireballs when she lived with the Elves. Still, people quickly learn not to upset her and evoke her anger in any way. It's just safer.

As most people with tempers go, Elsha is very stubborn. She likes to have her way, and will fight you if you challenge it. She rarely gives in, either, and will spend as much time as necessary to get her way. Also, she has a mouth that runs a mile a minute, if you let it. She gets into trouble constantly with her mouth and her endless sarcasm, and is known to be a horrible secret-keeper. That is, unless the secret is her own.

On the other side, Elsha is a fiercely loyal friend. Once she can count you as a friend, you'll never get rid of her. She is also a good joker and fun to be around once you get her to be friendly towards you. To sum her up, she's really just you're perpetually grumpy friend that can never seem to shut up.
