Character Suggestions

Post by Theo » Fri Nov 28, 2008 4:25 pm

Hey Everyone. I posted my character application, but for some reason I feel like something may be lacking in the descriptions somewhere. Anyone have any tips or suggestions to a new comer to this game?

I just want to make sure the character is fully fleshed out before I start RPing with him.

Hi Theo,

Welcome to Thar! Here's my .02 for what it is worth:

~Frug is the main guy, the admin dude, and what he says is law.
~Nothing is canon until Frug says it is.
~Make sure your character is approved before beginning any RP.

~ Suggest calling out your weaknesses a little more. Does he have any phobias? Like, do seeking spiders just paralyze him in fear? Does he like the booze a little too much? Or women? Or men? or shifters?
~ Don't forget to edit as Frug suggested by adding the bit about not being able to fight well under the weaknesses section.

~Suggest sticking to one character while you get the hang of the setting.
~Just in case this wasn't clear in the setting descriptions, magic is bad and non-magic is good
~ There is good and bad in everyone, we learn to live... :P
~ There is a seedy underbelly. Seems like fun.
~ Humans and elves are the most common race
~ Powerful characters are allowed by exception only and usually must be earned by demonstrated RP. Mega-powerful characters usually require an Act of Frug.
~ Speaking of which, there is one and only one vampire. He lives in Shim. Don't eff with Shim, be rude, or boorish, and he will probably be the nicest ...uhm.... thing you'll ever meet.
~Most people are not highly trained killing machines, they're just normal folk trying to make a living in a world that is not quite normal.

~If you are in Marn or Shim, magic is not just bad , it's very bad. Soooo...
~Magic users must register as magic users (unless of course you are bucking the system ;) ).
~Being a registered magic user does not equal being authorized to USE that magic. That requires
~The Battle Mages are worse than the Spanish Inquisition and we all know nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition. Be afraid.

Hmmm, on reading this I'm not sure if it's too rant-ish, but I hope it helps.

Oh and, if your character has been approved, I think Cormear is looking for an RP partner. :)

Act of Frug? Ree cut that out.
