Any exciting plans for tonight?
HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVERYONE!!!
Anything fun or thrilling planned? I was going to go out to a club with friends but several people are sick so I might end up being home and boring. Which is fine - I could use some sleep after all.
Fun fact: the past two years our group went to a comedy club for New Year's and had a fabulous time. This was great for several reasons. It's not a bar so I won't be exhaling smoke for the next 3 days; it's not a club so we can speak to each other without screaming; it's a freakin' comedy club and therefore fun because of hilarity.
So of course they decided they wanted to go to a club this year. Why? Why?!
Let me tell you about this club...
It's called the Electric Cowboy. Do you feel the gay yet? You shouldn't because it's not a gay club, ironically enough.
The floor is mushy with spilled drinks. The building is really tall, so it's cold inside because all of the heat - including the body heat - rises. The layout is basically just a large open room - no second level. So the music is REALLY loud due to echoes.
And they line dance to hip hop.
LINE DANCE TO HIP HOP.
I would not regret staying home tonight.

... yeeeah, staying home from that club wouldn't be so bad.
It's strange. Previous years my friends always planned parties. For Halloween and new years, there was always something. This year there's nothing for either. If something doesn't come up, imma be here.

Re: Any exciting plans for tonight?
We're having supper at my grandparents' house (where we're staying on our visit) then going over to my aunt and uncle's for sedate wine-drinking and festivities-watching. Not wild or exciting, really, but it should be fun. New Year's Eve with the parents... but my parents are cool, so it's all good.
May I tell a stupid New Year's Eve story from last year? It's Uluki-related.
In my RPing of this season last year, Uluki was throwing a New Year's Eve party. It played out slightly in advance of the actual day, but it was New Year's for my character. This party was pretty high-stakes, because this was during the evil god situation (ten years ago in in-game time,) and Uluki was trying to decrease the chaos and disquiet and hatred in the community by throwing lots of parties and coercing people into hanging out peacefully together. So, a very Uluki thing to do. Uluki's party was crashed by our more human villain of the time, a business man type named Anderson. The party deteriorated into a big brawl as we fought Anderson and then Uluki's group counterproductively turned against each other... screwing things up for Uluki, strengthening the evil god and thus making Rollick's New Year's pretty frightening and painful, and causing me as player irritation at the chaotic and uncooperative nature of my fellow players. ("Plot? What plot? Let's just kill stuff! Completely at random!")
What you should get out of this story: Anderson, our villain, crashed Uluki's New Year's party and caused trouble... with a very dramatically timed midnight arrival.
Anyway, we wrapped up our RP session and I went to my parents' house for the holidays, and the game stuff was on hold till I got back. My family had a little evening shindig, but people left a bit before midnight. I sat on the couch drinking a glass of wine and petting the cat, watching the ball drop in Times Square on CNN...
And about thirty seconds after midnight, suddenly I heard, "Oh my gosh! Anderson!"
Now, my parents don't know anything about RPing. They were aware I played D&D, but I doubt they could have told you Uluki's name, let alone made a reference to the game's villain at exactly the perfect time for maximum dramatic effect.
I just sat there blinking for a moment.
Turned out that it was a CNN reporter and she was addressing Anderson Cooper, not announcing the arrival of an RP villain named Anderson... but the time was just perfect and I had the creepy feeling that Uluki's story was coming to life.

Line dancing to hip-hop. *Shudders*
I think Uluki should throw us a New Year's party!
Austin has something called "First Night", which starts in the afternoon and goes until midnight. There's a parade, and performance art, and fireworks. I might go to that. Or I might sit at home and write, like I do every New Year's Eve.

You live in Austin? Damn I'm jealous...to a degree. I feel like I once knew that and just forgot...
I wanted to move there very badly at the beginning of this year but now I've calmed down again. I do miss the coffee shops a lot

Re: Any exciting plans for tonight?
A few days ago the plan was to go to a friend's house to hang out with my parents and her parents and maybe her (I have no idea) and do a puzzle. But, now I'm just hanging with my family at home. Man, I wish I was 21 and could go party. EVERY New Year's sucks for me. Nothing happens
I think I'd take going to "Electric Cowboy" just to laugh at the line dancers.
A comedy club sounds like a great idea for celebrating the New Year. I would steal it if I wasn't underage (21-). I probably wouldn't be allowed in.

I just got back from a get together with a small group of friends. It was great--very informal and a lot of fun because we all get along well.

Fucks y'all. I decided I get one drunk post of the year. So this is 2008--wasted. I think I drunk dialed my boss and declared it the year of the Ming, so we'll see how this turns out once I get back to work and she has checked her voicemail.
Love and drunk,
MM
P.S. I believe one resolution I made was to bring Pagusel back, so hold onto your socks, ya'll. HAPPY NEW YEAR

Oh, my.I think Uluki should throw us a New Year's party!
That would be highly, highly unlikely, to say the least. (Though the chances she will throw a party to celebrate some other occasion are fairly good. Anyone who tells her their birthday will get a bash.)
When Uluki thinks of New Year's, she thinks of waiting in horror and fear to see if she'd lost Rollick-- she was never quite so relieved to hear his "I'm still here" that he reassured her with often during his possession-- and trying to help him stay strong enough that the evil god wouldn't overwhelm him, since that New Year's Eve was the time the god was strongest due to the fighting and chaos going on.
Her preference would be to celebrate future "Year Changings," as she calls them, quietly at home with her family, being grateful for what they have; New Year's parties are not something she has any interest in participating in. As one would expect.
Of course, there is one way to get Uluki to do it anyway... "Pleeeeease? It would really mean a lot to me..."
