Name: Felina J'dadrio
Age: 23
Race: Half-human, half-cat (or leonine, if you prefer)
Height: 5' 6"
Weight: Unknown (refuses to reveal for reasons unknown)
Physical Description:
Felina is short and slim, with the curves in all the right places. Her skin is tanned from the sun, and feels like velvet thanks to the near-invisible coat of fur that covers her body (in other words, her fur is the same color as her skin and reacts to the same changes that skin experiences, i.e. going pale or getting sunburned). Her hair is dark brown streaked with a more tawny brown, reaches to her hips, and is tied in a single large braid. Her tawny ears are shaped like a cat's ears, and stand out prominently from her head. Her eyes are a deep blue, shaped like a human's eyes, and are otherwise like a cat's eyes when reacting to light and darkness. Her canine teeth are more like small fangs, though easy to hide in a closed mouth. Finally, she has a tail about three and a half feet in length covered in tawny fur tipped in dark brown fur.
Possessions:
Felina is often seen wearing a sleeveless blue shirt that exposes part of her midriff, with black patches stiched symmetrically on the sides, back, and front, and dark brown pants held up at the hips by a black belt, which also holds the scabbards for her scimitar and hunting knife. She also wears dark brown leather vambraces etched with intricate tribal patterns. She never wears boots, shoes, or even sandals (never has, never will), always choosing to travel barefoot.
Other possessions include a small, leather travel pack containing many herbs and spices, a wool blanket, and a day's worth of trail rations.
Powers/Strengths:
Felina's grace, reflexes, and dexterity are like those of a cat. Her senses are like a cat's, and thus she can see well in both daylight and darkness (especially in the darkness), and her hearing is on par with the elves' hearing. She is a good hunter and tracker, and has an intuit sense of direction. Though her skills with a sword are limited, she can still hold her own. She had an exceptional knowledge on herbs, spices, and other plantlife, and can use this knowledge to make medicines. She is adventurous, sweet, innocent, and kind, and she has a big heart to boot. She is always ready to make friends, and will strive to protect them.
Weaknesses:
Her human half makes Felina a bit clumsy at times, and she doesn't always land on her feet like a cat would. She's not that physically strong; her body is very delicate, and she cannot take heavy blows at all; even a punch from an average-strength human would leave a large bruise on her. She is naïve, and is quite sensitive to insults and threats pointed at her and/or at her friends. She also doesn't like to talk about her past, for she breaks into tears if she does.
History:
Born in one of the last tribes of leonine people living in isolation just north of the Great Scar, the first ten years of Felina's life were filled with tranquility. Her elders taught her how to hunt, gather, and track, and also about the different kinds of herbs and spices growing in the region. She was destined to become the next Chieftain who would govern this tribe, like her father Tau, who was Chieftain at the time.
This tribe, along with the few others, were potentially xenophobic, and thus hated all outsiders, especially humans, who had almost hunted the leonine people to the point of extinction. They regarded humans as savage creatures who killed all who stood in the way of their dark designs. Anyone in the tribe caught with a human could potentially be seen as a traitor, and might face death. That was what Felina was taught.
But all of that changed when she wandered out of the boundaries of her tribe's village, and she encountered a human boy near the outskirts of another village. The boy reacted with fear upon seeing Felina, a reaction Felina wasn't expecting to see. Didn't humans normally kill leonines on sight? If that were the case, why didn't the boy do that? Was there something that her elders forgot to teach her? Or were they lying to her? There was only one way to find out, so Felina spoke to the boy.
To her surprise, the boy, named Hugh, was startled by her appearance, for he had never seen anyone like Felina. Then he was amazed that such a being existed. The continued to talk, awkwardly at first, but they slowly became more comfortable with each other. Felina was suspicious at first, but that suspicion slowly melted away as he talked. This human boy wasn't what her elders said the humans were; he was nice, open, and willing to listen, not some sort of savage hellbent on their dark designs.
Soon after, his parents came. Felina was startled, as were the parents, but Hugh said that she was a friend. After a while, the parents opened themselves to Felina, just as Hugh had. Felina suddenly realized that her elders were wrong; not all humans were bad people.
After realizing how long she had been gone, Felina left them, but not without promising them that she would visit them again soon.
When she got home, after making sure that her father Tau wasn't home, Felina told her mother, Solee, about her encounter. Though shocked at first, Solee listened to her daughter's experience. She had never expected something like this to happen, and she also never expected the humans to act as they had. But she had always trusted her daughter, and she wasn't about to stop now. After careful consideration, Solee decided to trust Felina's words, and the two kept it a secret.
For the next three years, Felina continued to visit Hugh and his family each time she got the chance. She spoke freely with them, as well as with some of the other villagers there. She even brought Solee with her on one occasion. And the villagers (Hugh amongst them) treated them the same as they did amongst themselves: with hospitality. This completely changed their outlook on the humans.
But one day on the third year, Felina's father, Tau, grew concerned as to where his daughter was going. So he sent a spy to follow Felina unnoticed. The spy returned with unbelievable news; Felina was mingling with humans! Tau was outraged; his own daughter, the next Chieftain, was in the presence of humans when she was strictly told not to be. She would pay...
That same day, when Felina returned to her village, she was confronted by the entire tribe. Tau stepped forward and accused her of being a traitor by associating herself with the savage humans. Felina was shocked, and she tried to argue that they didn't see the humans as she saw them. But they just wouldn't listen; they believed she allowed herself to be brainwashed by the humans, and that she would bring an end to the tribe. Tau no longer knew her as his daughter and ordered her killed. But Solee stoof in front of them and pleaded the same thing that Felina pleaded. Tau, enraged that his own wife believed Felina, ordered her killed as well.
Felina was shocked. Why did they hate the humans so much, even after a long time of inaction from them? Why couldn't she make them see? Had their hate existed for so long that they became blind to reason? She realized that they were becoming the same savage race that they accused the humans of being. And she and her mother were not one of them anymore.
The members of the tribe, armed with spears and swords, charged at Felina. But before she met her instant demise, Solee stepped in front of her, and after her final words, "Your mother still loves you, dearest. Now run," was killed instantly by the many spears and swords. Though aghast and in tears by her mother's death, Felina obeyed and ran off before they had a chance to turn on her. Afraid that the same fate might befall the human village and Hugh if she stopped there, she didn't go through there.
She ran.
And never looked back.
Over the next several years, Felina put the past behind her. She wandered across the northern continents of Pal Tahrenor, meeting new faces along the way, mostly human. Though all of the humans were very wary of her due to her appearance, many put aside that wariness and offered her assistance when she asked for it. Some had even befriended her. She learned how to wield a scimitar to a degree. She learned things about herbs, spices, and other plantlife that the tribe had never taught her about. She integrated human hunting and tracking techniques into her own. She learned so much from the humans as she wandered the land for ten years.
Now 23, her next uncertain destination is that of Thar Shaddin.
