Don't like flying?
There's something inherently frightening in the concept of boarding a gigantic metal tube full of luggage and peanuts which rolls down a really long driveway until there's no more driveway left, at which point the metal tube (somehow) flies up into the air like a cigarette casually tossed from the mouth of a clown teeming with venereal diseases. The trepidation accompanying air travel lies in the fact that nobody, I repeat NOBODY, knows exactly how planes are able to fly. Think about it; planes are huge metal objects, just like cars, water towers, and Robocop. When's the last time you've seen either of those defy all laws of physics, lift off the ground, and then announce they'll be stuck in a holding pattern over the Atlanta airport for six hours? Without the help of a friendly tornado, I mean. And don't try to claim Robocop flew in "Robocop 3" because that movie never existed and nobody can convince me otherwise.
Thanks to somethingawful.com for this cute little quote. Robocop 3 indeed.

That made me wonder about how they work, actually. I like that site tho, those rants are great.
I found a site that tells you how it works. Nifty.

That site is nothing but physicist propoganda. A man could not fly unless he channeled the evil blood of Satan's filthiest minion, the BIRD. That's why I only travel by train. Good, sturdy, American steel rails pounded onto solid earth by the hands of the Lord God's most expendable resource, the Chinaman--wait . . . fuck . . . expendable . . .
Yeah i'm sorry but I simply don't accept all that mumbo jumbo lift and drag garbage. Yeah right, like that's going to make a hunk of metal float in the damn air. SURE IT DOES. People a thousand years ago knew it and they're still right.

Lol Dorcas.
I know it has a lot to do with air rushing past wings like with birds. It goes around a certain way or something. Ask Leonardo da Vinci, he knew. (^_^; ) The show was about his inventions and they had this wind tunnel thing that shows how wind went around the object. The tail has a lot to do with it too...

Yeah that's one of them. I don't think the show tried that one out, though. The one that flew was a pentagon shape that he left the tail off of so people couldn't use it. It worked much like a handglider. My favorite on the show was the scuba diving outfit with a working breathing tank thing. It worked! Like, hundreds of years before we learned how to. (I'm horrible with timeframes)

yeah my history sucks too. I'm going to guess 1600s for davinci. Rennaisance period. Hmm. Yeah sure, google says 1500s. See, i told you i'm brilliant.
I can't believe he made another flying contraption. And as if writing everything backwards isn't enough, he leaves off parts so people can't make them? See, this is what psychologists call a nutbag.
