Tarin
Tarin's consciousness had shut down completely, and the blood coming from his gut had slowed to barely a trickle. The magically animated skeleton was running now on a blend of Tarin's basic animal instinct and latent magical potential.
The werewolf had turned its back on Marissa, and therefor Tarin, but it was still a threat. It had put itself between Marissa and Laetus, the skeleton took the opportunity. It lept from its current position trying to take the east down and subdue it.
The bones made a hollow clunk as they left the ground in an attempt to flying tackle the werewolf, with any luck he distraction would be enough for Laetus to do something more useful.

The werewolf growled deep in her throat when a sword seemed to simply appear in [Lateus's] hands. Even a beast like her knew that he would have had to move to pick up the weapon, but it was too fast for her to see it. That made the creature before her dangerous.
However, as she considered the situation, if one could call beastial instincts consideration, she felt something hit her from behind. It did not knock her over, but it hurt. Snarling, she swung her muzzle around and tried to bite and snap at the thing hanging on to her, but as it was on her back, she couldn't quite reach.
Howling in frustration, the werewolf spun, like a macabre version of a dog chasing its tail, then returned her attention to [Lateus]. Ignoring the weight on her back, she crouched down, then pounced at the demon.

It was almost laughable when the werewolf failed to reach the skeleton on her back, but the situation was so bizarre that Asiona only stared. Lateus didn't think anything was funny so he stood there seriously, watching the shapeshifter carefully. As he expected she whirled on him and jumped right at him. He swung with all his might at the large the form and knew as he did it his accuracy was right.
Meanwhile the girl had watched enough. Lateus seemed like he could handle himself, and it wasn't up to her to protect him. He was a demon after all. Her fear in her throat and anxiety about everything prevalent on her face, she turned away from the action and ran with all her might down the alleyway. She was out within moments because the muggers had caught her near the entrance. It looked like she was taking the long way home... Which was good because she had all night to hide from the werewolf.
As she ran down the street in the opposite direction from her friend's house she screamed, making the few people walking at this time tumble out of her way. They looked back the way she had come from but didn't see anything.
Sorry Lateus she thought, yet wishing she could run faster.

Tarin
As asiona leftTarin's magical energies waned. He had reflexively been feeding off the latent power she had been giving off. As even his subconcious began to succumb the power that had been animating Marissa trailed off, and the blackened bones once again became just another corpse. All hope was left to Laetus, and who what he could do?

The werewolf glimpsed the flash of the swinging blade out of the corner of her eye and jerked away at the last moment. However, the point of the sword caught a glancing blow to her chest, leaving a bloody slash across her torso. Retreating a few paces, she looked at [Lateus] with wary eyes once again. However, even as she did so, the wound began to heal in the moonlight that splashed into the alley.
Once the cut closed and the pain that came with it faded, the werewolf realized that she no longer felt something clinging to her back. Casting about with golden eyes, she caught sight of the bones on the ground. Crouching, she sniffed at one briefly before losing interest. It seemed that the thing was neither a threat nor edible.
Looking up again, the beast's gaze came to rest on the still, bloody form of Tarin. Bloodlust rose in her eyes as she licked her fangs at the sight of such helpless prey. With a growl she crouched, then sprung at the human.

Asiona stopped running and leaned against an apartment building. She wasn't very far away; she could turn around now. A sense of what was happening came to her from Lateus but it was bewildering and impossible to decipher. She closed her eyes and slumped, breathing hard. It was too scary to go back.
Meanwhile, Lateus felt the impact of the sword and blinked in surprise because of the vibrations running up the metal and into his arms. He kept his grip, but lowered the large weapon to point at the ground. The werewolf turned from him and he watched as it sniffed at the bones. His eyebrow rose as he saw it's gaze fall on the necromancer. He was about to walk away when Asiona's consciousness stepped in. At the moment the werewolf leapt at the wounded man he jumped. The demon thudded with his shoulder into its side, pushing it off by a foot, enough to save [Tarin]. The longsword clattered to the ground.
A second impact shook through the werewolf and vibrated through Lateus' body, too, before they hit the ground. He fell on top of the shapeshifter when the third jarring collision of landing on the ground occurred. Dazed he pushed himself off the wolf body and looked around.

The werewolf snarled as she felt an impact to her side, but the guttural noise was quickly cut off. As she hit the ground, her head slammed against the wall of the narrow alley, and her golden eyes rolled back into her head as she passed out. The impact broke the skin on the back of her head, and dark blood matted her fur before moonlight healed the injury.
Even unconscious, the beast looked savage. Her brutal jaws were open, and the dim light in the alley glinted off her fangs, making them look even more deadly than usual. The smell of blood from the wounds to her chest and head hung in the still, cool air. Her sinewy muscles, although they were relaxed, stood out beneath her fur. The only thing that looked remotely tame or civilized about her was the sword belt that was still fastened about her abdomen.

Lateus stared at the werewolf's unmoving body. He noted the matted bit of blood on her head, and figured it had something to do with the fact that she wasn't moving. Perhaps this was the death that Asiona had talked about.
He got up with the help of the wall, feeling a bit wobbly for some reason. He didn't understand his body quite yet, and the impact of hitting so hard with his shoulder made it ache. When touching it tentatively, it distracted from the pain so he kept it there.
The smell of blood still emanated from [Tarin] and Lateus crouched in front of his unconscious form. Asiona seemed to sense his intention, because he felt a pang of disgust. Shaking his head, he stood again and turned away from both unconscious bodies. He swooped down and grabbed the glinting sword and made for the entrance. However, Asiona's thoughts went through his mind. If someone finds her, she'll be in a lot of trouble...How could we hide her? The idea wasn't meant for him to notice, but he had anyway. Wanting to please the person who had brought him here, he slid the sword back in the scabbard still on [Aeryn]'s hip and grabbed the werewolf's hind legs, then began to pull. She was heavy but he was strong, and as he got near the end of the alleyway he made both himself and the body disappear. The sound of the dragging was very obvious, however, and a few citizens turned and listened in his direction with puzzled expressions. However, he kept on, aiming for where he could feel Asiona was.
Asiona was sitting in an abandoned, empty shed by a dingy house on the edge of the Shanty Town Market. She had found it in hopes of thinking of some way to get the werewolf here, to hide her. However, it didn't seem possible as she stood there, hands on her hips, chewing her lip. It was hard to think with the strange buzzing sound that filled her head and a sudden weariness that made her want to rest her eyes, but she just took it for sleepiness. Then she heard a scraping sound.
She hid by the wall near the door and peeked out, only to see nothing with the noise persisting. It came closer and, dumbfounded, she felt the presence of someone go past her. Something furry brushed her leg and she jerked back against the wall.
Then, right before her eyes, appeared Lateus out of nowhere with the werewolf. He let go of the wolf-like legs and stepped over the body. "What happened?" she asked, not sure if the feelings she got from the demon of what occurred were correct. She felt suddenly very clear-headed, and hardly tired at all.
"I think she's dead, like you told me," he said while pushing the furry shoulders of the werewolf, trying to get her to fit. Asiona bent to help, at first squeamish but found the body totally limp. "I don't think she's dead, probably unconscious," Asiona told him. "Look, her chest is moving, she's breathing."
"What's breathing?"
Asiona sighed and said, "Getting air in your chest, and then pushing it back out."
Lateus took a deep breath, seeming to notice this phenomenon for the first time. Asiona resisted giggling at his serious expression as he focused on holding his breath. "Don't do that, silly!"
The shed was a bit small for all three of them, but they managed to maneuver [Aeryn] in a curled up position, with them sitting near the door. While they sat, listening to the crickets, Asiona wondered out loud, "I wonder what we'll do if she wakes up..." Lateus didn't respond. All he did was look out the door, and remarked, "It looks less black out there."
Asiona looked, too, and with relief saw that it had indeed lightened with the coming day, and there was a bit of yellow cloud on the horizon. She sighed with relief and turned back to the unconscious guardswoman-turned-werewolf. The transformation back would probably be just as cool as before!

As the moon set and the first rays of sun appeared over the horizon, the werewolf began to twitch. She was obviously still unconscious, but under her coat of fur her muscles jerked and shuddered in an unnatural way. The convulsions grew stronger and closer together as the sun continued to rise, then her body began to change with grotesque speed. The wolf-like tail seemed to whither as it shrank and grew back into her spine. Bones creaked and joints popped and snapped as her skeleton rearranged to its proper form. Organs sloshed and shifted about as her body shrank to a human size. Her blunt canine muzzle collapsed into her face as her skull rounded itself to that of a human, her ears shifting back to the sides of her head and her teeth shrinking and dulling. Finally, the fur covering her body receded, except for that on her head, which lightened to a sandy blonde. Blood was still matted into her sweat soaked hair and smeared across her chest. Her tan skin glistened with sweat, and was completely devoid of covering other than the sword belt buckled around her waist.
Groaning, the now human Aeryn opened her eyes, which had returned from an eerie gold to their normal grey color. The first thing that she was aware of was an ache throughout her entire body, but especially in her head. At first she thought that she must have gotten drunk and was experiencing a hangover, but she didn’t feel nauseous. In fact, she was starving.
Stirring slightly, she grimaced as she felt her skin scrape across dirt and stones, then she froze. She could feel the familiar weight of her sword against her hip, but it seemed as though there was nothing separating the worn leather of her scabbard from the skin of her thigh. Cursing inwardly, she glanced down at her body, and had her fears confirmed.
Raising her eyes, Aeryn glanced around, quickly gathering that she was in some small room or structure. However, when her gaze fell on the two other forms that shared the space with her, she swore loudly, pushing herself quickly into a sitting position and scooting back against the wall, all in one jerking movement. Cover herself as best she could with her hands, she asked, “Who the hell are you?” in as tough a voice as she could manage.

A few birds twittered outside, but otherwise it was quiet in the shed. Both Asiona and Lateus saw and heard the slow transformation with grotesque clarity. It made Asiona feel nauseous.
The transformation seemed like a reverse evolution in fast-forward and therefore was very bizarre to behold. Startlingly the last stage was a human form with the thick fur intact. However, then it disappeared. Both of their eyes bugged out as the fur receded, leaving naked human flesh behind. Asiona immediately covered her eyes and cursed herself for forgetting about that fact.
Lateus, however, grinned and feasted his eyes willingly. Some naughty thoughts went through his head, and Asiona almost shrieked when she saw them. "Oh my god, Lateus! Cover your eyes!" He didn't listen to her, however. He was too busy watching [Aeryn] wake up and then was trying to see under her covering hands. Asiona hardly heard the guardwoman's demanding question.
After he scooted not-so-subtly over, Lateus said, "Hey, woman. Didn't realize something so great was under all those clothes..." He continued to grin at her and look, not realizing he was probably within retaliation range.
Asiona held her face in her hands in embarrassment. "Oh my god, Lateus," she mumbled, cursing herself for not making him leave before the transformation occurred. And, she really didn't like the thoughts coming from him, either.
"I'm sorry," she groaned into her hands. "I'm Asiona, from before. You saved me from the muggers. This is Lateus..." She reached over and grabbed at Lateus' arm blindly, but even when she tugged with all her strength he totally ignored her.

When the strange man moved closer, Aeryn leaned away from him, unsure of how to react. Her training had hardly prepared her for a situation like this. Thing, she did the most feminine thing she had done in years. Pulling a hand back, she aimed a slap at his face. Hard.
"Get the fuck away from me, you freak!" the guardswoman shouted, scooting away and covering herself again as best she could. She wanted to draw her sword and stab him, but that would require using one of her hands, and there were all sorts of phallic connotations to a sword.
When the younger woman started explaining, Aeryn looked over at her. "That's right," she said, half to herself, then groaned and closed her eyes tightly, trying to dredge up memories that seemed to be lost in a thick foggy in her mind. "The muggers ran," she recounted quietly, "And I was arresting that boy, and then..." Her voice trailed off as her memories came to an abrupt halt. "And then I don't remember anything else."

The sound of the slap echoed in the small shed. Lateus was perplexed and hurt at the same time, and allowed himself to be dragged away by the girl. "What was that? My ears are ringing…" he muttered, but Asiona hushed him so she could listen to the guardswoman. She then jabbed the demon in the side and gestured to the door, whispering, "Go get some clothes for her." Lateus obeyed, sneaking glances back at the naked woman before exiting.
Asiona sighed like a wearied mother and sat back against the wall again. The place smelled like rotting wood and she couldn't wait to leave. She peeked at [Aeryn]'s face to see her reactions and replied, "He'll get you something to wear… Um, I don't know how to say this… But do you know you're…um…like, a werewolf?" She winced, afraid that maybe the guardswoman didn't know and would call her a lunatic.

Aeryn gave a quiet sigh of relief when the strange man left, but she did not let her hands fall. True, the shed’s other occupant was a woman, but that didn’t mean that she wanted her to see anything. However, she stiffened again when she heard the word werewolf.
“If you tell anyone, I will fucking kill you,” the guardswoman growled. Somewhere in the back of her mind, it occurred to her that she should probably kill Asiona and assure her silence, but she didn’t think she could do that. There was no doubt that Aeryn was tough and occasionally brutal, but the younger woman hadn’t actually done anything to her yet.
The older woman knew she ought to ask what had happened while she had been transformed, and apologize for any damage she had done, but she felt terrible. Her stomach was rumbling from hunger, her bite scar felt as though it was on fire, and her whole body aching from the strain of rearranging itself. She was hardly in the mood to be considerate.

"If you tell anyone, I will fucking kill you."
Asiona gulped and tried not to empower the guardswoman by showing fear. The girl still remembered how she had wielded a sword.
She puffed herself up and said, "Well, you and I are in the same situation...kind of. If you breathe a word about Lateus then I'll be forced to kill you. I say we call a truce and you allow me to help you. I could have left you in the alleyway to be found by a stranger and then taken to your fellow guardsmen: a traitor in their midst, really. ...And... And I think you should stop threatening me. I've done nothing to harm you." In the dim light within the shed her eyes shined with tears, but she quickly blinked them away. It was hard to forget about all the things that the woman had said to her yesterday evening.
Lateus then peeked around the corner, and after looking [Aeryn] over again he threw in some clothes. Asiona had taught him what clothes were, but it was still hard for him to recognize what were clothes or whether they were appropriate clothes. What he had thrown in looked to be like a strip of striped cloth and a small child's shorts. Asiona picked up the shorts and held them up, looked at the guardswoman, and sighed like a wearied mother again.
"No, Lateus, these won't fit. You'll have to get something bigger."
"What do you mean they won't fit? Won't they just stretch or something?"
"Well, no, Lateus."
"Then who wears them?"
"Looks like a child does. Children are much smaller."
Lateus grumbled about not getting it and snatched it from her, stomping away to find bigger pants. Asiona giggled shortly before she looked over at the nude woman, then stopped and looked away.

Aeryn rolled her eyes in response to Asiona’s short speech, but Lateus returned before she could reply. After giving the demon a dirty look when she caught him staring at her, she glanced over at what he had brought, and immediately recognized the same problem as the younger woman. However, she kept her mouth shut until Lateus left.
“True, you haven’t harmed me, but you know what I am,” the guardswoman said, addressing the younger woman’s previous statements. “That makes you dangerous, and I don’t make deals with witches.” Hatred practically dripped from her voice as she spat out the final word. “I should kill you right now so you can’t tell anyone, and then kill your familiar or whatever he is when he comes back. I bet the battle mages would like dissecting him.”
Although her words sounded tough, Aeryn was quickly learning that it was difficult to feel confident while sitting naked on the dirt floor of a shed. She could put up a good show, though. “Besides,” she added, deciding to call Asiona’s bluff about killing her, “if you have spells you can use to kill me, why didn’t you use them on those muggers that attacked you? You’re not as powerful as you’d like me to think you are, are you, witch?”
