I only say the top because honestly, how many people have ever looked at the bottom of the web page?

If they're ripping things off without giving credit, they haven't bothered to ask or check and probably don't care. That's what pushed my original stance on this issue.

So many websites are all "We'll sue you if you touch our stuff!" and quote some legalese somewhere, or even write a whole series of pages in legalese about how they'll sodomize you if you steal their work.

Yeah. Right.

a) nobody reads it. b) nobody cares. c) because you won't sue dick.

Someone who's being careful is going to assume there's a copyright until otherwise stated.

This all goes out the window if we're talking professional authors publishing work for real money. The quality here is getting to that point. It's gone from the usual level of casual RP forum stuff to some top notch writing.

So this legal protection should probably get set up. I hate it. I didn't think we'd need it. I'm glad we do now. Oh the irony.

I believe it can be sufficiently explained in one or two paragraphs as well. There will be no page long terms of service if I can help it.
The world is an arena, not a stage. RP is a stage, not an arena.

I prefer the 2-page terms of service that requires a signature. Please take care of this as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Now that's my kind of documentation.

Just agreeing that the writing quality on this sight does read like professional writing. I know that I would buy a book written in most of the styles I see on this board. Since I started writing with Falcon/Julen/Mistress I am constantly struggling to keep up.

I agree with that! One of the reasons that it's so easy for me to stay informed about all the current storylines in Thar Shaddin is that I genuinely look forward to reading each new post. Heck, I even read the stuff in the Player Discussion section, because I love to see how people come up with their ideas. I've belonged to a lot of sites that were exclusively about writing, and none of them had such high standards of prose. About a week ago, I read through the entire "Musical Illusions" thread in one sitting, and it was amazing to me how much it came across like an opening chapter in a novel, rather than an RP.

Oh, and I thought I was the one struggling to keep up. :D

I was meaning keeping up in terms of quality.

What I did notice in Musical Illusions was how constantly I was in 'writer mode' where everything flows so easily. What happens so often is I know exactly how Railtus answers the last post and then I have to find a sufficiently interesting description for everything else happening.

again, I miss so much with pesky work. For the record, Valz Malar is an attention whore. If you use him in a book/story/dream sequence, even if it is just so you can kill a character...do it. Whatever gets him bloodied and on the side of justice is cool with me. It would be sweet (sweet means good) if this little world was published and just knowing that I was in on it before it was cool to be in on it would be amazing.

Really isn't it sad that we can't just trust people to be responsible? I am so sick of the babying, litigation minded, "it's somebody else's fault", lack of personal responsibility at all ages, trend that we have seeped, and oozed into in this world. Good god, if somebody slips on a wet sidewalk because they were too busy yapping into their 2,000 dollar (thats like three Pounds....damn you weak dollar and your horrible conversion rate) cell phone and twist their nasty little ankles, the first thing that they do is check out who they can sue. It makes me sick...

*steps down off soap box*

That all started out as a cohesive thought and some how didn't end up that way. What it boils down to, it I trust the people who are using this site to do the right thing, of course if they don't, I'm probably bigger, stronger and faster than them....so it all works out.

That's actually closer to 1,032.57 British pounds. But who's counting? Gah, Valz, the dollar's been devalued, but not THAT insanely much! lol!

I was thinking that was a mighty expensive phone  I think an "expensive" phone is like $200 or like $300. I think British pounds are worth double the amount of USD, right?

I agree totally with the babying thing. People need to just take responsiblity for their own selves and be adults for once. No one wants to be responsible, or either that or they're greedy. It irks me to no end. People have no respect for anything. None for the system that should be used for people that really were wronged and none for the companies or people they suck the life out of my suing them (or because they sued someone else and there's a ripple effect). It also annoys me when people litter on purpose. They should just respect themselves enough that they will keep things clean, other than having respect for everyone else by not leaving a mess and for the environment. >end rant<

The government in overdeveloped countries (we're developed beyond our spiritual or social means. We have smart bombs and stupid people.) really coddles people to a twisted point. The law needs to be circumvented sometimes. We need to go back to an honor system where I can duel your ass.
It also annoys me when people litter on purpose. They should just respect themselves enough that they will keep things clean, other than having respect for everyone else by not leaving a mess and for the environment.
Litter and the environment are two different things. The problem isn't litter, the problem is the amount of garbage our lazy self indulgent society produces. At least you see litter. Landfill is just sweeping it under the rug.

But uhh, this is getting political and way off topic...
