I will say that rp here tends to be a bit different from other places (I glanced over your app -- gonna need to tone down the power by quite a bit, but I will do a full review where I point out where and how), but as long as you're open to working with others and collaborating, I think you'll do just fine. Generally speaking, it can take a few passes to get an application approved, but as long as you're willing to adapt your application to fit our rules and are willing to try doing things our way, you'll get there.
I know sometimes people coming in feel like we're a bit draconian in how we run things, but part of Thar's success has been remaining firm on our rules and policies. It can be a harsh learning curve for some, but as long as you're willing to work with us, we're willing to work with you!And yeah, pets and their weird staring matches with nothing (parents' dog did that the other week to me by staring up at the ceiling and barking and growling, looking at me and then returning to staring at nothing).
Also, woot! I'm also returning to school (started last year), though my goal is a degree in cultural anthropology. And if you ever need someone to practice French with, we have a couple of speakers hanging out (though the one living in Europe makes fun of the others' American accents).
Most of our members who are active in chat are in the Americas, so time zones likely will play a part -- we do have a few Europeans, but they don't tend to hang out in chat as often. Hopefully we'll catch you sometime!
