Summary: Continued from http://www.tharshaddin.com/rp/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3322
Having vanquished the sorcerer Wenli, and restored peace to the village of Yunshan, Piao Bai and Cai set off for the regional capital of Shanyi to submit the required reports to the Jin Magistrate.

What should have been a nice and easy trip becomes a little more ...complicated.

Will Cai ever get to ease her sore joints at a hot spring? Will Piao Bai ever get to eat more than plain old steamed buns? Only time will tell.

I forgot to ask you in chat this morning, Ree: How much of a fast-forward do you want with the opening post?

Shall I kick things off with the day of departure, or assume a few days on the road? Should I have them still somewhere in the mountains or approaching lower terrain? Any preferences for the weather I inflict upon them in the opening post?

:D

First off, thank you for taking the initiative! :) *HUGS*

I am OK with fast-forwarding the departure and getting us on the road.

Whatever the weather, let's have them in the woods on the mountains. For the record, I am very flexible and non-dictatorial regarding the things you have asked about. I know it is collaborative fiction and all that, but I also trust your writing skills. I am still getting a picture of Tian Xia in my head, whereas you have a very clear picture of it.

Possible, unplanned hiatus may or may not occur starting May 4. Just a heads up!

OK, looks like I will have mobile access until the end of May. Hopefully, I will be gainfully employed by then, too!

Two things:

1. Matty says every time he sees the name of this thread, he reads it as "The road to shiny"

2. Nothing will happen in the clearing until nightfall. :)

Two more things =^_^=

1. The road to Shiny Shiny: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLqC3zs4r3Y
2. Feel free to fast-forward to evening if you wish, and auto Cai helping with preparing the campsite if needed :)

As if I have the right to complain about you making me wait for a post =p
I've not quite reached such levels of hypocrisy yet =D

Take your time, I look forward to it!

So, that post took me a lot longer than expected, and my apologies for that. :oops:

About the only thing I did a bit differently from how you set the scene (sorry about this) was deciding that Cai was in fact asleep when the moon rose. I liked the idea of having the supernatural presences affecting her dreams before the flute woke her, and that can then lead into a further exploration of the scene :)

The only part of your last post this would affect, though, is the following part:
Piao Bái sloooowly craned his head around to peer at Cai. She wasn’t asleep yet, so he preferred not to risk changing his form.
“I will play for you.” And, with that, Piao Bái lifted the wooden flute and played.

(For an easy tweak, you could say 'she didn't seem to be sleeping well' instead of 'she wasn't asleep yet' and everything else would still make perfect sense for the scene.)

I'm really loving how you are describing the scene, and want to see more =D

I'm going to start keeping notes in this post to help me keep names and places in order :)

=====Province of Jin=====
(A northwestern province)

===City of Shanyi===

Provincial capital of Jin

===Town of Laoshanmen===

A large agricultural/mercantile town in the province of Jin made more prosperous by its location on a route between a major mining area and Shanyi
It has, as a result, many inns and teahouses to cater to the frequent flow of traffic in both directions.
It is home to a small outpost of the Tian Xia Military and has its own magistrate in residence.

---People of Note---
Current Magistrate: Chongde

---Places of Note---
The Jade Crucible: a cheap and less-frequented inn.
