She perked up as a womanly voice came from behind Drayel. She watched with a tender smile at the reunion between mother and son, and tried to restrain a chuckle as she scolded all three men with ease. One would be tempted to assume that she had done this before. Certainly keeping one man in line was hard enough and she was managing all three of them!

Talia returned Dray's smile with a soft one of her own, nodding in response to his question and then again at Shade's mother in thanks. "Shall we go outside?" She asked heading for the door that was still open. "I think the moon is full and it seems to be a beautiful evening."

As she walked towards the door she passed by Shade. "Get ride of the gnomes, otherwise I will make sure to tell Drayel the whole story. No scratch that, I will tell that teacher of yours all manner of things" She hissed him quietly, hoping that Drayel didn't hear anything but not bothering if the two others in the room heard.

Once outside she stopped and turned to look at Drayel. Her own cheeks slightly red to match his as Shades words from not too long ago. "You know, you don't need to apologize or anything." She said with a nervous laugh. "I know you were just trying to help in your own little way. But really, you have to trust me. I am stronger then you give me credit for." She placed her hand on his forearm as she tried to explain herself.

"I...I understand that." Drayel agreed slowly as he tried to meet her eyes. They held for mere moments before he dropped them again. "You've defended yourself long before I came along, and long after I'm gone you'll still be able to. I just.... No, I apologize. I will try not to act so overbearing next time."

Slowly Drayel raised his eyes to look at her, his lips twitching a little in a guilty smile as he hesitantly reached up and placed a hand over her own. It felt... strange yet comforting. He chuckled almost guiltily as he gave her hand a gentle squeeze. "I suppose I'll have to try and explain myself a bit though, won't I?"

He glanced up at the open window above his head, his eyes narrowing in distrust as he slowly took a step forward.

"Come on. I'd.... I'd like to show you Father and Mother if you've got the time." Drayel said slowly, turning his eyes to look down at her again. "

Talia chuckled a little at his almost shy apology. "You make yourself sound like an old man. You still are fairly young, no spring chicken granted...but you shouldn't talk like that." She scolded tenderly. She assumed he was most likely talking about the fact that it was entirely possible for him to be hurt, even killed on the job, but that didn't mean he had to act like that day was next month. For all he knew he would be able to retire from his job without serious injury or worse.

She squeezed his hand back, her cheeks maintaining it's hue at the action as she nodded. "I...I don't have any plans for the next couple days. I mean, I don't have to worry about being home at a certain time since I don't have work in the morning. I would love meet your parents." She finally managed to sputter out.

"What did you mean by explain yourself?" She asked him a few moments later as she walked beside Drayel, remembering his words and her curiosity getting the better of her.

"What I mean.... Well, come on I'll explain as we walk." Drayel sighed. He started to walk towards the back gardens, not really a large distance away but still it seemed like ever step was another mile. With her on his arm though, he wasn't able to turn away. So, he pressed on with a clearing of his throat. "I'm surprised Jackal never showed you their graves. It seems like something he'd like to show you."

A sad chuckle escaped him before he knew it. He felt his shoulders slouch whilst his mind wandered.

"When I was a boy, I'd always wanted to grow up to become a guardsman. They seemed... powerful. Strong, brave, smart. Everything that was needed for those poetic heroes in my father's tales. What he'd left out however, was a touch of reality." Drayel's voice darkened into a low disgusted hiss. "I left. I left them behind to go and train to be a guard. When I returned years later, I was welcomed of course but... something was different. I thought they were frightened of me, by how much I grew. So I left again."

"The last time I saw them, I didn't even hug my father. I shook his blasted hand, bowed my stupid head at my mother, and just left." Drayel couldn't help but spit it out now. Years of infection began to well and he couldn't stop its spewing. "Within a month, they were killed. After that I-"

The rest of his words halted in his mouth, the bitterness becoming too much now. He bowed his head and ground his teeth, coming to a stop between two slabs of stone. He stared at them as objects, no memories. So many years later, and he still couldn't believe this was where his family was. That this is where Shade helped him bury his only known family.

"After that I guess I become overbearing. Last time I'd left them, they died. They were killed for stupid reasons I never even saw coming. So, I left you Shade." Drayel rumbled softly keeping his eyes on the graves. "I figure, though it was a pain in your arse that you'd at least have somebody I knew I could trust. Perhaps I'm just paranoid. Or old. You're never quite sure with me."

She lightly held onto Drayel's arm as he guided her to the graves. Talia listened quietly as he spoke - not quite sure what she should say. The story was a sad one and touched her heart. It explained quite a bit about why Drayel often acted the way he did. As he finished talking she gave his arm a bit of a squeeze.

She didn't really know what to say. What do you say to someone whose parents were dead? She tried to think about her own parents but she never had a chance to know them so she never really had to mourn their lose. And the people who did take her under their wing eventually rejected her and so there was merely bitter feelings there versus sad ones.

Suddenly she got and idea. Letting go of Dray's arm she whipped around running a few feet obviously searching for something. When she found what she was looking for she knelt to the ground, her back blocking her actions from Drayel. When she stood up and turned around she held a small plant in her hands. Walking over she knelt down between the two grave stones. Using her hands she dug a small hole and gently placed the plant in it, patting the loose dirt around its roots.

"There." She said as she leaned back and admired it, her cheeks tinged pink. "There should be a flower blooming in a couple weeks."

Her hands were covered in dirt now but she didn't care. Besides baking she loved gardening and she seemed to have a real talent for it too. Her eyes roamed the area as she stood up. "You know you really should weed and tend to some of these plants. Or maybe assign it to Jackal since you are always busy. I can stop by and teach him how to do it if you like." She said shyly as she hid her hands behind her back and continued. "You have some beautiful plants here and could have some wonderful gardens, all it needs is some tender love and care."

She tentatively reached out a hand and touched one of the grave stones as she wondered when the last time was that someone showed Drayel some love and care. It was clear even without his story, that it was a little difficult for him to let people in.

Drayel chuckled as he gave her a gentle smile back. His chest still ached but at least it felt sufferable. It felt odd to actually tell somebody even a bit of that past. Shade was the only one to know the full story, and that was only because he had been the one who dragged him out of the blood splattered home. Drayel forced the flashes away, watching instead as she planted something at the graves. He blinked.

"It...Is it a flower?" Drayel asked curiously, now edging closer to get a good look. Hearing the garden comment he turned a bit red, giving her a sheepish grin before scratching the back of his head. "Well, Jackal is worse at gardening than I am. You can come and train him if you'd like, or even use this garden yourself. You certainly seem to like plants."

Drayel grinned.

"Though, you coming to my house often may start some nasty rumours." He gave her a rather cheeky smirk as he glanced towards some nearby bushes. "So Shade, I hear you lost your date with the young teacher? Per shame I must say."

"Shuddup ass." The bush replied irritably.

"You were going on a date with a school teacher? Oh, what's she look like? What's her name? Is she nearby?" The female tree asked excitedly. The bush groaned in clear embarrassment despite Drayel's frown now pointing at the tree. HE hadn't realized that tree was haunted as well.

"That's just it, you never change." Grumbled a weed pile. Male but older than the bush. Drayel's frown increased as his face began to heat up. "At least Drayel has enough manners to woo the woman. Look at you! Sex with everything with legs yet the second it might get serious you turn tail!"

"Shuddup!" The bush snapped.

"I'm sorry." Was all Drayel said as he covered his face with his hands and tried not to groan. "I didn't.... They.... God damn those shifters."

Talia nodded when Drayel asked if the plant she had transplanted was a flower. Although her smile quickly turned into a glare and she tossed her braid at him and turned away haughtily, trying to hide the blush that was creeping up her cheeks. Perhaps if Drayel lived alone it would look bad but it couldn't look to horrible now that he was basically a father, right? Any proper woman would be concerned about a young child without a mother anyways....

Her thoughts trailed off as Drayel started talking to a bush, and it talked back? And then several other voices started to come from various parts of the garden. It didn't take her too long to figure out what, or rather who, was responsible and Talia's ears started to turn red to match her darkening cheeks.

She sighed and then walked over to the tree and leaned against it as she tried to recover and not appear to out of sorts.

"Well that's not entirely true. As far as I am aware Shade has managed to stay away from the cows." She said with a smirk towards the bush. "And I suppose the teacher thing failed because of me." She said as she scratched her head thoughtfully. "I did shock the poor fellow when I broke up with him in front of everyone, he certainly hadn't expected that, much have his lady friend catch us in such a situation in the first place."

"See? I can be serious." The bush snorted defensively. "I have my eye on a lady and I'm taking it slow! No need to get so snorty about it, weed pile."

"At least my weeds look pretty." The weed pile pointed out dully. "Your bush looks like somebody mowed through it."

"Shuddup!"

"Oh boys will be boys." The tree sighed dreamily. "I'm sorry dear. I couldn't help but get curious and where one goes, the other follows."

Drayel just hid his face in response, trying to ignore the obvious embarrassment and fury that was causing his temples to pound. He took in a deep breath, clenching his fists and breathing heavily out his nose as he gave the vegetation a heavy scowl. The bush chuckled nervously in response as it cleared its 'throat' with a shake of it's branches.

"So, how are you?" It asked timidly, the little red berries shaking a little as it chuckled awkwardly. "Seen any gnomes lately?"

"Shade, I am going to kill you." Drayel growled in response. He glanced over at Talia, her blushing face causing him to scowl deeper at the bush. "What in your blasted- No, don't answer it. Talia, would you like to smack him around or shall I? I feel the weeds can be handled quite fine by the tree."

Talia's eyes widened suddenly remembering the gnomes that they had shoved under a blanket. For a moment she didn't hear what Drayel was saying to her. Turning to him a little stunned she managed a small smile and tried to think about what he had just said.

"Well I don't think you should kill him just yet." She said cautiously. "Afterall I am pretty sure he was willing to kill a guy when he thought that he was.....well that thing were....um getting out of hand." She said blushing again before moving on quickly. "And he did help in saving me from those crazy old ladies who were falling us when after you and I had first met. BY THE WAY, that reminds me. Thanks to you that old woman won't leave me alone! Today along she threatened to paddle me because she thought I had cheated on you or something! I am pretty sure business has gone down at my bakery because she stalks the male customers when they come in and tries to catch me doing something that would give her the right to jump you. Honestly you need to put that woman in her place, go out with someone for real or date HER. She certainly likes you enough." Talia smirked at him, half teasing and half serious.

Drayel stared at her in obvious horror, eyes blown wide and jaw dropping for scowl to gaping as he had a sudden picture of the old hag in a wedding dress. Immediately he slapped a hand over his eyes in a sad attempt to hide it from his gaze but was greeted instead with a clearer image. He groaned.

"You're a cruel woman!" Drayel complained loudly as he gave her a dull glower from beneath his hand. "Though, he saved you from a pervert did he? Suppose that gives him every right to live. Bloody dog..." Drayel sighed again before dropping his hand and glancing at Talia with a tired stare. "You're definitely a cruel, cruel woman."

"I mean it though, Drayel, did you see a gnome?" Shade's voice chuckled again though this time it actually caught Drayel's attention. Noticing the suspicious glare, the bush laughed cheekily in return. "What? I mean, you never know. Maybe one followed you home, right Talia?"

"First off he wasn't a pervert. And secondly I am NOT cruel Drayel Morig!" Talia exclaimed. "If anyone here is cruel it's you. You got me into this mess and all I am saying is get me out of it like a proper man should! But I am not cruel!" Her face pulled into an angry pout and she resisted the urge to stop her foot for emphasis. She would rather not have 'childish' be added to the list as well.

Turning her wrath towards the bush she stomped over until she was in front of it. "As for you...no more playing game. Go get those four gn...gentlemen from the house and send them on their way. And be nice about it. Otherwise I won't try to protect you next time Drayel decides to punish you, regardless if you don't deserve it or not."

Talia kept her back to Drayel. She wasn't going to look at him until he apologized. She didn't care if he had been joking or not, she wasn't cruel....

"....Who the hell did you let in my house, Dog?" Drayel glared intently at the bush as he bristle in annoyance. The bush giggled nervously in response. Dayel scoffed. "I don't like that answer."

"Gentlemen...?"

"What kind?"

"....Intoxicated?" Shade's voice turned sheepish as a head began to emerge from the top of the bush and Shade smiled widely at him. Huffing Drayel was about to go on off on his famous scoldings only to have his ear yanked on. Yowling he looked over in surprise at the scowling woman.

"Go!" She barked as she pointed a finger at Talia's far back. "Apologize this instant!"

"Ow, what? Let go!" Drayel snapped as he tried to no avail to remove the pain from his ear, only to have her drag him closer to her face and forcing him to stare in her sharp eyes. He blinked. "What did I do?"

"You insulted a perfectly nice lady. Honestly, calling her cruel! Go on then, scat! Don't make me pull the other one!" With that she let go of his ear and put her hands on her hips with a snort. " I may be older now, but I will put you over my knee young man. Shade, you keep your nose out of his business you understand? You, go!"

Talia sighed and turned, offering a grateful smile to Shades' mother who had so nicely stepped to her aid. "Thank you, but don't worry me, if he can't understand it himself then it's no use bothering him about it." She shook her head with a sad smile.

"I have to be leaving anyways. I have to be up early and working tomorrow. But it was nice to meet you and your husband. I am sorry I didn't have much time but feel free to stop by the bakery - Bepa's Buns and I will treat you folks to something." Waving she turned around to find her way back to the front of the house and grab her purse before heading back home.

"What a waste." Shade's mother scolded as she gave the two boys a hot glare. "Honestly, can't you to shmucks understand when a woman feels hurt? Drayel, you're to stay with me. Shade, go on and walk her home. She'll turn you down most likely but I expect you to follow her anyway. No lady should walk so late at night, not smelling of alcohol."

"Alcohol? She's drunk?" Drayel immediately turned bared teeth to Shade who threw his hands up in surrender. "What did you do?"

"She just wanted to prove she wasn't a child and asked me to help! I kept her out of trouble, I swear!"
"You....!"

"Boys, go!" With a heavy swat to their heads Drayel grumbled irritably before stomping back to his house while Shade turned and fled after Talia. As large and frightening as they were, they knew better than to mess with her. She was the Mom.

Talia heard the bickering behind her as she left although she chose to ignore them...would they ever grow up? Probably not, she thought to herself as she entered the house to grab her purse before leaving, her head still slightly pounding from the days events or perhaps it was all the banter that was causing her this pain.

Either way she was going to go home and have a nice quiet evening and hopefully not be ambushed by any crazy old ladies, or mini magic people. They day could end like it started...uneventful.

She had barely left the farm when she heard someone running to catch up. As it got closer she spun around and tiredly snapped "What do you want?" She was half shocked it wasn't Drayel who had chased after her but she did her best to hide it.
