"Oh! Well, I..." Ysole blushed a little as she gave a bit of a sheepish laugh. "Well, I'm afraid I'm a bit of a klutz. I-I'd fallen in front of the school and some of the pages from my book scattered. He'd managed to catch them before they blew away. Not long after that he began accompanying me with walks occasionally. Oh! B-but don't think he's being unfaithful of course! He's more like a good friend."

Shade slumped slightly at that as his face drew grim.

"And he also acts as quite a good sheep dog." she mused with a polite tilt of her head, tapping her finger gently on her lip with a frown. "A couple times our animals have gotten out and he's rounded them up for us. Saved us quite a few come to think of it." She beamed at him causing a heavy blush to overtake his face. "I never did say thank you, did I Mr. Corrin? Haha!"

"It's nothin'." Was the gruff response as he shifted his eyes to look away. "It's a neighbourly thing to do, right? I mean, you are Drayel's neighbour and it's not like you can run the whole farm by yourself. You're parents are gettin' old and all..."

"Yes, it is quite nice thank you." Ysole giggled before turning her attention once more to Talia. "So, what of you? How did you meet our brave wolf?"

Talia's nose crinkled a bit as the woman talked bout Shade as if he was a bit of a pet. The idea of him being a wolf, much less dating one, was hard to wrap her mind around. How would that work anyways? When he was a wolf would he still be hers or would he just be like any other animal out there...one doesn't normally date, much less marry a wolf so how would a relationship with a half wolf work?

The pushed those thoughts from her mind, they had nothing to do with her current predicament. And it appeared as if Shade was now starting to regret his eleborate story. If she wasn't mistaken he had more then a little interest in this teacher. Poor fellow could have potentially ruined his chances with her for what...a fake relationship with her?

"Oh I am not worried, afterall we aren't technically serious yet....actually we were just going to talk about it before we so rudely interupted." She shot a glare at the old woman who tried to look innocent....an impossible feat for them apparently.

She patted Shade on the shouder and gave him a sorry look. "I'm sorry Shade, I didn't want to do this in front of others but....but...." She bit her lip before continuing. "You are a wonderful guy, so helpful, and sweet when you want to be. I really feel safe with you but...I think we should just be friends."

The old ladies gasped and then cackled, somehow finding delight in the little show she was putting on.

"I guess I am not over Drayel yet and it's not fair to you. I hope you'll forgive me." She offered a bit of a sad smile, trying to keep hersef looking apologetic and like a confused emotional girl. It wasn't easy though, she desperately wanted to laugh at the expressions of the crones, and giggle at how oblivious Ysole seemed at how much Shade liked her. Perhaps this would give him a bit of a chance at her...somehow.

Shade gaped at her for a moment, clearly stunned at her little display. Wait... what just happened? He got dumped by his imaginary girlfriend? He heard Ysole gasp behind him yet he was still too dumbfounded to actually understand what was going on. That is, until Ysole sighed and dropped a hand on his shoulder. Startled he looked up at her now.

"I-Its alright. I mean, I'm sorry to presume you two were already together." Ysole admitted with a heavy blush. "I just assumed- I mean. I apologize. To both of you. I-....Ah, I believe I shall take my leave."

"...!" Shade stared at the woman before slowly looking down at the one against his side. "W-wait. What?"

Nobody gave him cookies for intelligence but he couldn't help but feel lost. Now the lady he wanted to woo was flustered and running for cover, the one he was pretending to woo just dumped him, Drayel was still out of the count and undoubtedly would hear about this later, and come to think of it those old bitties seemed quite dumbstruck as well. He stared at them.

"....I....Oh." Shade glanced down at Talia and chuckled awkwardly. "Uh... It's okay...? I mean, Drayel's quite the catch you know. I'd be concerned if you didn't fall for him! Did you see those abs and scruff? Why any woman would be mad to pass up him, even if he is a bit of a brute and shy and.... well his body is all scarred and what not but who cares? He's strong! I swear that man can lift an Oxen if he gets mad. Trust me, he's hauled my butt more times then countable in many difference places. Saved my hide he did. Why if he didn't get a woman, it would be a crying shame! Wouldn't you agree ladies?.... Uh, Talia where did the hags go?"

Turning Shade cut off his rambling to stare down at the petite baker.

"What just happened?"

Talia slapped her hand over her eyes and groaned. After a moment she removed her had and managed to snicker at Shade's cluelessness. "Way to go Romeo." She said, rolling her eyes at him. "You just passed up a moment with that pretty teacher. And don't you try and tell me there is nothing there. I may be clueless at times but I had a close enough view to be able to tell you more then a little like her." She grinned at him before looking around.

Shade was right. The old woman had all left...did they finally find a weakness in the old women? Although a big break up scene would be hard to do more then a few times so perhaps it wasn't necessarily a weakness but at least it was an idea to store away for later. And if anything she was free to be able to go save Drayel from them if she so needed to when he returned.

"Are you sure Dray is....is...into women?" She said changing the subjected, turning a bit pink as she voiced the question that suddenly came to mind. "I mean you've just said all those nice things and I've never seen him with a woman...of any sort. And he picked out this dress for me so well, even I can't pick out a dress that fits right without trying it on first." She fanned out her dress as she spoke.

Part of her felt bad for asking such a question but she was curious after all.

"Hm? Oh you think Drayel's gay?" Shade paused to cock his head to the side slightly. "Ah, no. I mean, even I have some doubts with those little quirks he has but he's definitely not gay. He may not look it, but he's quite the flirt. Woo quite a few pretty ladies but... I guess not. I think he's just too worried to actually try to take a woman."

Shade sighed as he leaned back on the bench and peered dully at the sky.

"Poor dumbass is gonna grow old and die alone with nobody but Jackal." He stated with a sorry chuckle. "I mean, there are a few females he actually holds dear and you're one of them, but that doesn't mean he'll out right marry you either. Doesn't want to make you worry for being married to a guard."

"Though... I guess you only needed a short answer for that huh? So... No, the tincan isn't gay. He's just.... well I guess he's just plain stupid and stubborn." Shade grinned at her though the humor didn't meet his eyes. "Isn't that just it though? Hot man, nice muscles, cute eyes and shy temper and the idiot is too damned worried to even try to get with a woman. Twit I'd say."

"Well I didn't really think he was...that way but...it just seemed, well he just...I just thought, or at least it felt like, but...well..." Her voice trailed off and she looked down at the skirt of the dress she was wearing and tried to figure out what exactly she was trying to say. Her head snapped up a moment later, finally seeming to realize all of what Shade had just said.

"What do you mean marry me?! Has he said anything? I thought that we were...that he thought of me....well you know, not that way. It has been a long time since we meet and, great now you have me confused." She rambled on again before scratching her head before turning to grin as Shade.

"If I didn't know you better I would guess you have a little man-crush on him. I have never heard you speak such nice words about someone, much less their looks." She teased him and started nudging him playfully with her shoulder.

"I look up to him." Shade answered honestly. He sighed heavily as he grinned down at the rambling woman, his shoulders shrugging lightly. "He's saved my hide more than once, stands up for the little guy, and he doesn't even get a pat on the back for half of his stuff. Honestly, I think maybe he doesn't even think about it. He doesn't 'deserve' things in his mind."

The laugh died off his lips, his arm hesitantly tightening closer as he dropped his gaze to his boots.

"He's the only one that's known my whole past and still help me out." He admitted with a glance over to her. "After what happened at my home town... when I got caught here. He somehow found out and had managed to somehow get me a deal. How, I don't know but he's the only man I'd trust. Women, hell I love 'em. You, well you're hands off but Drayel. Even if I don't tell him, he's the one guy I'd follow to hell 'n back."

Shade chuckled sheepishly as a blush overcame his face. Clearing his throat he gave her a squeeze.

"Anyway, no. I doubt he's going to ask you to marry him. I think he's just... really protective of you. Congradulations Mrs. Idris, you've been adopted by an idiot and his crazed son." With that Shade returned to his cheery grins. "Why, if I didn't know any better I'd say he was even trying to be human by getting you that dress. Even if he did have to get Jackal to sneak into your room to get your dress size. Though, I suppose you don't know about that, do you?"

She had opened her mouth to ask Shade what he meant by whole 'hand's off' comment. Nothing came out though as he was quick to explain what that meant. Her mouth stayed open and she simply started at the shifter...a look of shock and confusion frozen on her face.

"Are you joking?" She asked suspiciously, shooting him a glare as she finally snapped out of her trance. She had been about to coo all over Shade since he was being so sensitive and open, going as far as to blush. But then he drops this bomb on her? She and Dray weren't even dating...at least he had never asked her out on an official date that she was aware of.

Sure she had kissed him after they first meet but that was forever ago and it had never been mentioned so she just took it as a 'lets just be friends' type rejection. It had hurt a bit but she got over it and had a lot of fun harassing about goodness knows what and simply spending time with him. She couldn't deny that her heart beat was going a mile a minute although she didn't know if it was excitement, fear or whether she wanted him to be joking or not. It was all so confusing!

"I didn't know about the Jackal thing though." She said, trying to shrug it off and revert back to a grin. "But it doesn't surprise me and it does explain why Bepa was extra cheeky and grinning like she was last week."

She waited in silence for a moment before standing up, offering her hand down to Shade as she talked. "Shall we head home?" She asked quietly. "Its been a long day I think we both are in desperate need of sleep.

"Sure." Shade chuckled as he groaned, standing up with a hesitant crack of his back. His face twisted into what suddenly appeared to be an old man. "Ugh, I feel aged. Do you think Drayel's rubbing off on me? I mean, some of its good and all but I don't want to feel like an old man either."

Rolling his eyes he offered her his arm. A grin cast across his face as he gave her a charming yet startlingly not seductive smile, his eyes twinkling in good hearted humor. "Well my lady, shall we be off? Why, I do believe such a lovely lass shouldn't be walking by themselves home!"

Talia glared at him but accepted his arm anyways. He hadn't answered her question, but then she wasn't sure she wanted to know the answer. She would just have to take it as a joke. Otherwise she would never be able to look Drayel in the face properly again. That's it. It was just Shade making mischief and trying to put Dray in another ackward situation again. She did have to admit , if she wasn't the person supposed to be involved it would be entertaining to watch Drayel had to deal with a girl who thought he was going to marry her.

"You know you really are hopeless." She teased as they entered the farm house a little while later. "Instead of walking me home you should have chased after that cute teacher you are infatuated. I bet she would have loved to comfort a sobbing pup like yourself."

She tossed the last comment over her shoulder as she headed up the stairs to Drayel's room. She was planning on changing into her former dress. That way Drayel could have the pleasure of giving it to her himself and she wouldn't get it messed up. Closing the door behind her she started to change.

Shade chuckled as he gently rolled over a gnome with his foot. Silly silly him. Shouldn't have said a word. He growled a bit when the gnome beginning to hold onto his foot, hugging it like a pillow much to his growing irritation. Why wouldn't he be a gentleman though? Help the old man get a girlfriend? Besides, the look on her face was priceless.

Finally shaking the thing off his foot (with a drool puddle on the toe he noticed with no great pleasure) Shade wandered to the sink, cleaning his face a little only to pause. Hands still in the water, head still lowered, he froze up. A scent touched his nose, distant but there. He stiffened.

Turning sharply around to stare intently at the door, his pupils contracted and his iris's brightened into a glowing green. His teeth began to bare as he tried to get his drunken brain to install the newest information in his skull. No way was that man here. Yet... with it came that soothing earth smell. His anger died off as he breathed in a the smells, followed with tin and sweat. Just as doors opened he found himself on his feet, braced, with eyes wide and heart pounding. He didn't even see their faces yet. The words left his lips as his eyes met with the first male he'd seen.

"Dad."

It only took a few moments for her to place the dress back where it had been found and quickly change. Heading down the stairs she caught sight of Shade acting all tense before suddenly relaxing.

"What is it Shade?" She asked looking towards the door as she trotted down a few more steps. Hearing footsteps and soft voices outside she looked towards the Shade again. "Is Drayel back already?" A look of panic filled her eyes as she looked from the door to the gnomes. He wasn't supposed to be back yet...he would not be happy to have three of those little guys in his house. Perhaps it was just Jackal coming back with friends...

These three fellows are going to give me a heart attack one of these days, she thought as she grabbed the table cloth and threw it over them just in case.

The man who opened the door paused, his glimmering grey eyes locking onto Shade's form with the look of surprise. They stared at each other, clearly stumped at the other's sudden appearance despite knowing full well who the other was. Finally, a deep grating voice rumbled free from the older man's chest.

"Hello son." He growled. Shade just stared in response. Once shining black hair turned into thorough grey, his scarred but somehow handsome face wrinkling with age. Yet his watching eyes remained the same. Wary, firm, and yet still glimmering with love somewhere in the far back. He'd shrank. Or, perhaps Shade grew more then he'd realized. Either way, his sire came to his colorbone now. Another grunt of clear displeasure caught Shade's attention now as his father gave him a rather scolding look. "Well, are you going to introduce us or are you going to gawk like a fish?"

"Well I see you haven't changed." Shade growled, his teeth going into a snarl immediately. "Really, can't even say my name still?"

"Introductions." was the flat response. "Then you can get your insults for me out of the way. Acting so foolishly in front of a lady, I thought your mother raised you right."

"Don't you-"

"Enough, both of you." Drayel's voice boomed between them as the large guard appeared just behind the older man. "Ben, none of that, you either Shade. Oh, hello Talia! I didn't see you there." Drayel's rough tone immediately turned warm as he gave her a polite nod of the head and a pleased hum. "I have been meaning to visit you though I suppose you visited me instead. Funny how things work, hm?"

Talia looked back and forth confusedly between Shade and the new man. Her eyes lite up as Drayel entered the room before a bit of a pout crossed her face as she proceeded to scold him. "None of that now Mister Drayel Morig! I know what you did. Next time you decide to get me a 'babysitter' makes sure you either tell him not to tell me you did, or perhaps let me know yourself. Thats right, I know the whole story."

She shook her finger at the big man before placing her hands on her hips. "I can take care of myself I will have you know, done it for years before I met you and I can still do it. And Shade? We both know he is a great and wonderful guy but he is not the type to keep me out of trouble." Her cheeks turned red at the thought of all she had done in that one day and her eyes darted nervously to the blanketed gnomes.

"I suppose I will take my leave now, I do not wish to interrupt anything" She said nodding towards Shade and his father as she started towards the door in an attempted escape.

"Oh dear, look you're scaring the poor woman away!" A soft voice pouted from somewhere behind Drayel, her tone filled with gentle scolding as the woman herself appeared around the large guard. Unlike her husband, she seemed to have aged slower. Her white hair still held traces of brown, her wrinkles softened by the gentle smile and her green eyes twinkled in motherly love. She nudged the guard out of the way and reached out for the younger woman. "Oh, I really am sorry for all three boys. None of them really know how to treat a lady proper."

She smiled kindly once more before turning a scolding finger at Drayel.

"and you! A babysitter? Really?" She scolded with a sharp crack of her tongue. "Why, the poor woman probably hasn't a moments peace! I fully understand you're wanting to keep her safe but I do believe a constant watch is more than a bit much. A lady needs privacy! Shade! Oh, it's good to see you dear."

With that she ran and hugged her son, throwing arms around his wide shoulders as she pressed her face firmly into her chest. He didn't even pause to hug her back, nose burying itself into the locks of her hair. She squeezed him tightly before loosening again, then promptly slapped him rather hard.

"What's this I hear of disrespecting women? How many have you bedded young man?"

"W-what?" Stunned Shade held his stinging cheek with confused frown. "-"

"You silly boy! Did you think I wouldn't know? Honestly, you're as bad as father was at your age!" She snorted at him before taking the side of Talia whilst looking rather sharply at a rather scolded looking Drayel. "and you young man! Apologize to this woman already and stop staring at your boots!"

"Ah-.... Yes ma'am." Drayel mumbled as he quietly shuffled to Talia and gave her a flickering smile. That stopped however under the realization everybody was staring at him. His ears turned beet red as he coughed rather heavily into his hand. "Do you mind if I have a word with you, Mrs Idris? I'd like to apologize without so many eyes."

"Wuss." Shade's father snorted.

"Shuddup Pa." Shade defended.

"Silence all of you!" Shade's mother barked them into silence. Turning back to the young woman she smiled warmly. "Go ahead dear, we won't bother you."
