Re: Introduce Yourself!
Couldn't help but ask... online courses in IT? That perks my interest. God knows how I'll find time for it while I'm rocking two jobs. But if I'm taking courses while doing it, online is gonna be the best bet and similar courses are exactly what I have in mind. What exactly does that process entail? And is it bloody expensive lol. I haven't even looked into this yet, I just settled in to where I moved and right now just barely started the second job so I'm kind of waiting to start getting paychecks from both to see if I'll be taking home about what I figure I will. But when I moved up here from CA (I'm gonna miss the Sierras, just not the crap unemployment out there lol) I'd decided I'm taking some online courses. Sad part is I probably already know enough to get a job in the field or at least get started, so I should have did this a long time ago. Gotta have that piece of paper before any jobs like that even consider you.
Game of Thrones is good stuff. I had two friends cajoling me to start reading it and I never got around to picking those up until I was working my last job at a market by the lake and one of the employees they hired on last summer had brought the topic up and was cool enough to hook me up with the ebooks her husband downloaded. I put em' on my phone and I've been glued to them since. I'm on the 5th right now. I need to find the time to read some more of it, been so busy the past 2 months.

Re: Introduce Yourself!
What a delightful introduction! It is very nice to meet you.
I love that both you and your husband rp -- my dude is like, ehhh, yeah not suited for writing. We've got quite a few family people here, so you can expect a lot of sympathy and similar experiences as far as young children are concerned. I find it admirable that you're working, taking care of kids AND schooling -- but as they say you gotta do what you gotta do.
Homesteading is something I want to be able to do at some indeterminate point in the future. That or just have a nice chunk of land and a home on a hill overlooking forest, and ABOVE the inversion layer. Mmm, dreams.
If you have any additional quesitons or if I can help in any way please don't hesitate to holler!
Welcome to Thar, the both of you.
(I swear I am so. . .off my schedule ><)

Re: Introduce Yourself!
Hello everyone!
First of all, I want to say that this site looks pretty darn amazing, and I cannot wait to be able to get started role playing here (just waiting for my character to be approved). I'm not entirely used to role playing as a human (I started role playing about a year ago, and I joined a wolf forum, which was really fun. I was a Global Moderator, which sometimes was hard work, but I loved it all the same).
A bit about myself: I'm a university student, studying Veterinary Medicine. (So I do get super busy around exam times--that would be the only times I would be less active than normal on a role play site). Besides that, I am usually on a few hours per day once I'm done classes.
For the future, I hope to one day establish my own practice (I plan on practicing general medicine, catering my needs to everything from cows and horses down to birds and hamsters). I hope to own my own plot of land outside of the city, where I can have my own little "hobby" farm and raise a family.
I hope to meet you all soon!

Re: Introduce Yourself!
Hey there! Welcome to Thar
Sounds awesome about your plans for the future! What kind of farm are you thinking of? I love seeing different kinds of farms and gardens, even if I'm too lazy to cultivate much of anything, myself. >> Meesh (Niabi) is currently raising ducks, and we've got a few animal lovers hanging out so do feel free to hop into chat!
edit - ah, forgot, I'll nab your app later today if no one else gets it by lunchtime. (still waking up)

Re: Introduce Yourself!
Thank you!
I'm hoping for a nice variety. I'm kind of obsessed with all animals, and I find everything cute (even hairless sphinx cats). Right now I'm planning on a small group of horses and ponies (adopted from a local equine rescue), some sheep and goats, perhaps a beef and/or milk cow or two, barn cats and a dog or two. But knowing me, I would likely get some fowl. I love game birds, and was considering pheasants.
I also love gardening, so a large garden four vegetables and flowers will also be made, eventually. It will have to be made secure from my ruminants though. Sneaky buggers always find a way in haha.

*loves eating game birds* >> *cough*
That certainly sounds very lovely! I hope you're able to see it come to fruition.

Re: Introduce Yourself!
So do I! I'm thawing out some Gambels and Scaled Quail right now to eat tomorrow for dinner!
Good to meet you Amelia. I work in and study wildlife ecology; I've had the good fortune to learn from and later work with many great vets. Best of luck to you in your studies.

Hi everyone! looks I'm slow on the uptake to reply. Happy to have new and existing writers on Thar! Postie postie!
I'm a mom of two, work full-time, and am going to school online for my MBA with concentrations in Marketing and IT.
We're a pretty cool group with the usual suspects.
I look forward to reading your posts.

Re: Introduce Yourself!
Hello all!
I've been lurking here for a few days and reading things, and I was impressed. I have several years of experience in forum RP, mainly in close-knit communities like these. I've also experience in world building, and generally find it even more enjoyable than actual roleplay, so I hope to contribute once I've stuck around for a while. Since it's allowed, I'm going to make up an original race for my first character. I wonder how that's going to end, hehe.
A bit about myself. I'm a first-year law student, aiming to become a judge. I also enjoy studying philosophy, languages, religion and other abstract nonsense. Creative writing is my primary hobby, thought there are some video games I like. My boyfriend is a maniac. I think that pretty much covers my life. I expect to have heaps of fun with you guys

Welcome, Marina.
Sounds like you'll fit in well. If you wanna join us in chat sometime, we have some pretty interesting conversations. If you have any questions, go ahead and ask a mod, and if you're creating a new race, you might wanna do a write-up of the race in the World Development forum.

Re: Introduce Yourself!
Hello complete strangers!
I'm new around here, though i'd be a bit weird for me to post here if I wasn't, anyways I've been flicking through the site a couple of times, pretty interested at the huge amount of effort put into peoples characters and role playing, and thought it was all pretty amazing so thought i'd give it a go, though have to admit i'm a bit daunted and nervous since this is pretty different from the old sites I used to roleplay at. Anyways, nice to meet you all, and hopefully i'll be posting soon!

Croeso!
No need to feel daunted or worried! The key is character development and creating a collaborative writing experience. Reading through the settings wiki and rules is the best place to start.
Should you have any questions, feel free to ask! A mod and most of the writers are around at all hours.

Re: Introduce Yourself!
Hullo, I believe this is a good place to begin. I'll start by introducing myself. This account is attached to my first character on these boards, a young Skellig Dubh, in case you were unable to gather that. In many ways he is like me, and many ways not.
Oh. And you can refer to me as either Ty (a play on my username on another website) or Skellig.
Oh, and for a bit of trivia, he has been my imaginary friend (although not quite in the form he is here, his personality remains perfectly intact) since I was about five or six, so you could say I know him fairly well. Hopefully that will prevent inconsistencies.
Anyroad, some information regarding myself is perhaps in order.
... Hm. This would be a lot easier if I was interesting. Oh well. I have an adoration of art, both digital and traditional, and if anyone would ever like to request a sketch of their character(s) I would be happy to oblige.
Yours Truly,
Ty.

I remember, once, you said that to cage a bird, to clip its wings, is wrong.
