Name: Amelia Lindensheeld
Age: 23
Race: Human
Height: 154 cm (5'1")
Weight: 60 Kg (130 lbs)
Physical Description: Amelia is a short young woman, and due to her height and small face, many mistake her for an adolescent at first glance. When she meets new people, they often refer to her as "the woman with the young face". She has medium length, "nutmeg" dark brown hair, which she normally keeps tied back in a tail with a leather thong, or in a french braid. She is Caucasian, with light ivory skin; however, it has an olive tone to it.
Despite her height, Amelia is a woman any man can appreciate: she has curves in all the right places, and has some "meat" and muscle on her bones. Her eyes are a deep doe brown, and her lips are plump and have a pronounced cupid's bow. Amelia also has three piercings in each of her ears, but no tattoos or other markings. She has small scars, (primarily on her knees, the top of her feet, her elbows and a few on her wrists) all of which she earned throughout her childhood; both through the normal playtime activities children do, and through learning proper combat from her elder brother and father.
Possessions:
Clothes: Amelia is often found wearing a pair of dark brown breeches, soft and well-worn "over-the-knee" black leather boots, and a sage green tunic with a dark brown leather corset beneath it. She also wears a grey traveler's cloak and carries metal spaulders and greaves in her travel pack, which is usually found atop Galathe's back.
Bishan: Amelia carries some bishani with her, but she keeps reserves hidden along her main travel routes, if she ever were to fall into a pinch. She makes her bishan by repairing damaged clothing, hunting (and selling the skins), or selling the various berries and herbs she collects. Amelia is a skilled tracker, but she prefers to keep this trait a secret from people who may wish to use her ability for the wrong purposes.
Weapons: Amelia grew up learning how to master archery, and as such she is very adept at using a bow. She carries an intricately carved longbow with her, along with a large quiver of arrows. Amelia's childhood nickname given to her by her brother was "Eagle Eye", as she never missed a shot, regardless if she was stationary or moving, or if her target was stationary or moving. She also has a fondness for daggers, and she carries four stiletto blades on her person at all times (one hidden in each boot, and the other two are housed in removable leather sheaths on her forearms. They are hidden by her billowy tunic sleeves).
Her travel companion: Amelia has a large Buckskin Friesian horse (technically, a Buckskin QH or Quarter Horse crossed with a Friesian...but he has the build and appearance of a true Friesian), who is called Galathe. He has black legs and his body is a golden tan colour, with gorgeous chestnut dappling. His mane and tail are black.
Powers or Strengths: Amelia has the ability to speak with animals; however, this ability is limited to one factor: she must make eye contact with the animal first. She is able to view the animal's thoughts, communicate with them, and if given permission, she can "ride along" with the animal as it travels. (She cannot take control of its body, but she will see and feel as they do, from the animal's perspective, as if she were the animal).
Amelia views her powers as a gift, as she views all life as sacred (including the lives of animals). She has not once betrayed an animal's trust by using her powers against them, and she often times protects them from harm. This usually occurs when a master decides to beat his beast unnecessarily, and it is the point where Amelia will intervene; more often than not, she will beat the master and free the animal if it tells her it wishes to leave.
She has an quick, analytical mind, and never jumps into a potentially dangerous situation without having a strategy.
She also excels at archery and dagger use. She knows some hand-to-hand combat, for use when using her stilettos. Amelia is by no means a hand-to-hand combat master; however, she is proficient enough to best an average dagger user.
Weaknesses: Amelia cannot use her ability to speak with animals for hunting; she hunts them like any other human hunter would. The ranger is also unable to kill someone, whether it be for money or for vengeance, as she has a does not wish to have someone's lifeblood on her hands. If she or a loved one were threatened, Amelia hits to maim or disarm her opponent. She is also extremely stubborn, which can get her into trouble sometimes. The young woman has quite the temper, (but a relatively long fuse) so if you manage to get her angry, she really gets angry. Most people give her plenty of breadth when she is in a foul mood. Amelia is not one to take her anger out on others; she will normally release her frustrations through finding a suitable tree (or archery target) and emptying a quiver into it. Amelia is also shy, and quiet. She tends to keep to herself, and prefers to observe others before deciding to join them or not.
Amelia is sure-footed and light on her feet, but she is helpless in a situation where she is surrounded by people. The nature-loving young lady only feels comfortable in nature and around animals; being surrounded by people, particularly in a small, closed in room makes her jumpy and nervous. Due to her fear, she is often wary of others.
Despite being well versed in combat, Amelia's body is slow to heal: if it takes a similar fighter five minutes for a laceration to clot, Amelia's wound will take ten. Even small scratches from brambles and thorns remain on her skin for weeks at a time before fading away. Lastly, Amelia has connective tissue damage in her left ankle, which often causes her pain when the weather changes or if she over-exerts herself. The damage was caused from chronic injury (as a child, Amelia was quite clumsy, and often sprained her ankle while climbing trees with her elder brother--she never could get the landing right--needless to say, she never really learned her lesson).
History: Amelia was born in a small village east the land of Thar Shaddin. Her father was Captain of the Guards for the local lord, and her mother was a seamstress. She was the youngest of two children, and was treated more leniently than her older brother. Though her mother wished her to be more lady-like, Amelia only wished to follow her elder brother around, and as such, she was taught how to fight and hunt alongside him. Her elder brother, Denan, was her role model growing up.
Amelia discovered her gift for communicating with animals by chance; her father had managed to catch a colt from the wild, and he refused to be tamed. Amelia had taken one look at his eyes, and she heard his thoughts; he longed to be freed. The young Amelia had spoken with the colt for hours, and they became good friends. Her father had planned to butcher the colt and to use the meat to feed his family, but the night before he was supposed to die, Amelia snuck out of her room and opened the gate. Though she had been punished, Amelia never regretted her choice. Ameila never disclosed her secret to her family, not even to Denan; she was afraid that they would disown her or simply tell her to bottle it up and forget about it (her parents were quite superstitious about magic). The next summer, the colt returned as a stallion, and to her surprise, wished for Amelia to be his rider. And so the strong bond between Amelia and Galathe was cemented, and they have been inseparable since.
Over the years, her parents attempted to get her to settle herself in order to find a suitable husband, but Amelia refused. They turned to an arranged marriage, but Amelia would have none of it. On the eve of her 20th birthday, the now young woman took her most important belongings with her, and fled. Though she misses her family greatly, Ameila has not gone back to her home village since she left; she is too afraid of facing the pain she knew she caused them. Amelia survived through her own ingenuity (and her ability to hawk her wares) along with the help and companionship of the animals in the woodlands; they taught her how to be resourceful, and what was good and bad to eat from the wild. The young woman spent the next few years traveling, offering herbs and animal skins to travelers in exchange for Bishani. Once she had established her main travel routes between the Mar, Shim, and some of the outlying towns in Pal Tahrenor, Amelia began slowly stockpiling Bishani. She hid them in tree hollows high above the ground in the woodland around Shim, or in discreet holes between ancient tree roots when away from Marn and Shim. She eventually ended up in Shim, where she has been accumulating Bishan in hopes of owning her own piece of land.
As far as her hopes for the future, Amelia has always wanted a family of her own, and she hopes to eventually find a good man, and marry him for love before raising a family in Shim.

Hey there, and welcome again to Thar!
One thing I want to clear up off the bat, in regards to your character's looks: Does she look like a child while having womanly curves, or can it be assumed that she covers up her curves with her cloak? A little clarification would be nice so we can get a good idea how your character looks and how the curves shape her body.
I would like some more detail at her dagger use and hand to hand combat. It sounds like she has some fat on her -- does this affect her ability to practice these? How about level of skill -- would she be able to go up against an average practitioner to whom it is a casual means of self defense? How about someone who trains every day? A master?
I'll assume she's pretty deadly with the bow, but how accurate is she with it? Can she easily hit moving targets?
In weaknesses you say she'd be unable to kill someone. If someone is strangling her and she has a knife to their throat, would this still hold true? If they are about to kill her friend and she has them in her sights, would that hold true?
When she is angry, does she destroy property or just relationships?
I'd like to see a few more strengths/weaknesses that pertain to her personality, as I don't have a good feel for who she is as a person. I know she is soft hearted, but is she kind? Wary? Does she hold grudges against those who treat animals poorly? Is she resourceful? Clumsy? You don'th ave to go super in depth, but a little bit more to give us a feel of her goals in the world and how she views it would be good.
In possessions you mention that she keeps bishani along her main travel routes, but I do not see this mentioned anywhere in history. Does she travel often? If so, where?
Your history has a good base, but again there's no real feel for who the character is and how she became who she is. I'd like a little more meat to the history (doesn't have to be a lot, just enough to give us a feel) with a bit more info. Things like how she views her ability, what she wants from life, if she ever plans on going back to her family (does she love them, hate them), what happened when she ran away, how she managed to do it alone, stuff like that.
If you have any questions/comments please leave a reply in this thread; send a pm to myself, Niabi, Katona, Stella or Frug; or hop into chat.
