Frederic Desdemon

Post by Desdemon » Mon Jan 14, 2013 5:38 pm

Player Name: Jamez
Name: Frederic Desdemon
Age: 18
Race: Human
Height: 6'2" (189cm)
Weight: 220lbs(100kg?)
Physical Description: Frederic is physically fit due to his rigorous training. He never tends to wear a shirt, although commonly accepted as indecent he has grown up this way and has made it a habit not to own a shirt. He wears black pants with lime green tribal symbols going down them and a matching cape. The cape seems to be a cloak made of silk and drags on the ground behind him as he walks. Albeit one of his personality traits, his pride and arrogance show right through to a physical level. Novices can't tell, but those heavily trained in the world of martial arts see that the muscle structure he has built up is quite strange for his specific martial art. This obviously not having a huge impact on his physical appearance, but those with keen eyes would be able to tell his training was not with a simple shield and sword.

Possessions: Other than the clothes on him, the hair on his head and an odd locket around his neck, Frederic only has two items of obvious importance. A black-metaled tulwar and a curved dagger, taking almost a full "S" shape. They don't appear to be magical themselves, and have no form of magic imbued in them, but magical residue can be sensed in small vents beginning at the hilts of these weapons.

Tulwar: Blake

Blake is the name of the odd Tulwar. The blade is a curved double sided sword composed of what appears to be black clay. The clay seems to be hardened to the same density of steel, while maintaining a light weight. The blade looks formidable but upon closer examination has no actual sharpened edge. mysteriously it has small pores along the edges that should be sharp.

Dagger: Root

Root is a disarming dagger, specially crafted for the deflection of enemy armaments, although capable of inflicting physical harm it's edges are the same as the tulwar's. Other than the fact it can cause actual harm it is crafted in almost the exact same way as the predecessor

Powers or Strengths: Frederic is indeed human, something he has eventually come to admit, but he was not raised like one. He was raised by "the shadows" a race of secretive and illusive beings, not known by many and those who do know about them would only know the basics, except for the older adventurers who delved deep into the waist lands of the Sooqui plain. These beings do have a name to their race as they call themselves Djinn. These beings who raised him like family also traded with him the ability to use magic, for a price Frederic does not openly discuss. This said, Frederic is a wielder of both arcana and sword, finding a happy medium between the two of them.

Magic: Shadow's breath
Djinn are complete pacifists who will refuse to kill other beings even if it cost them their lives. For this reason their magic is completely non-fatal and follows a code of honor. This ability uses specially crafted blades to emit a fine energy along the edges to "cut" through foes much like a sword would, however the wounds left are black, and bleed black blood. These are known as shadow wounds, and are not fatal to those who receive them. they feel and act just as normal wounds, tiring and slowing the opponent, even rendering limbs useless but they ware off in a few hours and the victim returns to normal. This is a high level magic of the Djinn people, normally only learned by the clan's warriors. Fredric uses this to subdue his foe's without the need of lethal force, and is his main fighting style. This is a focus-type magic that burns through his magic energy the longer it is activated, gradually becoming fatigue and if overexerted a coma or death. Fredric has enough control of this to know when his limit is, and once his ability to use this skill is over, his chances of winning a fight instantly drop. As is he can maintain this spell on his blade for up to five minutes.

Martial training: Tulwar and dagger

Frederic was trained by the Djinn in protective martial arts using weapons which cannot cut. these prove very effective in stopping opponents but stress the user a lot in fights, trying to maintain peace of mind. This deep concentration is hard for Frederic so he tends to mess up in combat. He is no master, but has a profession in protecting himself and others few can match but little in the art of attacking. This martial art requires the user to lean back, which would normally put you at a disadvantage due to reach, but it make the opponent unable to fight normally due to the odd posture, and if they lunge the practitioner of this martial art will slide forward to get under the opponent's guard, using the curved blade of the tulwar as a double-edged sword also helps with this technique to go for lower stabs, to the attacking flank or thigh. In that stance high-kicks and flips are also common ways to put yourself out of a dangerous situation. Another common form is to get low to the ground. This lowered center of gravity allows for better grappling ability, once again needing the enemy to attack first before being able to counter. The low posture utilizes the odd shape of the dagger to twist the opponent's blade and wrist to disarm them, deflect the slash or stabbing their foot into the ground to use the tulwar. The biggest downside to this is it has no purely offensive moves, but merely retorts to what the enemy does. This shows the aim of the one fighting is simply to stop fighting.

Weaknesses: Frederic thinks he is the best at everything (although usually disappointed he is quite stubborn.) He is very lively and energetic, but amongst all else very trusting. He takes others' words for truth having never been lied to his entire life. This makes him a truly sincere person despite his arrogance. He also suffers from a severe mental illness giving him migraines at random times of high excitement. The Djinn said this was a sign, but of what they did not tell him. He also gets nosebleeds at night. Normal medicine cannot help so he takes a special blend of shadow weed and earth tillium to help calm these symptoms. He is also VERY thickheaded, causing problems for everyone and everything in his path, but is a generally pleasant person if you stay on his good side. Here is a list of main weaknesses:

- Poorly educated.
-Poor....just poor in general.
-Ragged clothes, seen as a street urchin or a delinquent.
- Hates carrots
- A phobia of birds

History:

Frederic was abandoned in the Sooqui plain when he was but a few days old, left floating on a small wooden canoe. He was told the sky wen black during the middle of the day that night. A storm brewed in the wet season that year, and a torrential down poor would soon befall the plains which could flood the small lake and the canoe. It was only fitting that a child left to die would be taken away by the shadows. As if a literal irony took place darkness clung to the canoe, dragging it along the small lake to grass. There standing, controlling the shadow was Uro'Quoi, the Djinn who eventually became his mother. Djinn always wear concealing headgear. They seemed relatively humanoid minus the legs who's knees bent backwards and a second joint appeared above the foot. Their skin was dark purple, nearly black and their hands had four long and thick digits. Uro'Quoi took Frederic to the leader of her tribe. His name was Migizi, a wise and old Djinn who lived through many wars, but participated in none. Migizi seen dark shadows in the boy, and knew his fate would be null and void if they did not take him in. After contemplating with the elders of the tribe they decided it would be best to allow the boy to live amongst them.

It only became apparent to young Frederic that he was different from everyone when his friends continuously grew taller as he slowed. Although he could be considered a tall human the Djinn towered at almost ten feet in height (300cm) so they grew much quicker than he. It was a long process, trying to keep up with the magically and physically superior Djinn but Frederic learned not to be pushed around and gained great power through his training. Due to him continuously straining himself in physical and magical training he often slacked with his readings and mental learning. For this he is often ignorant of history and language. Being as he is, he had no interest in those subjects anyways. But when it came to readings, he did read some of the tasks given to him by his mother. He always read the adventure books, telling tales of great adventurers and the likes. These tails of the outside world captivated his attention. Over his childhood he trained to try and become a knight in shining armor one day, and for this he was teased by the other children.

Fredric has a fear that grew instinctually within him. A fear of birds, and most avian creatures. This is routed to the time he was an infant and approached a pack of geese. Although geese are usually peaceful, if threatened they attack in hordes. After several stitches and a few lessons on how to properly treat geese Fredric swore never to go near them again, and from that point onwards developed an intense fear of birds.

After training his natural magical retention for so many years the Chief decided it would be best that he learned the ways of the Djinn,to officially become one of them. They held a ceremony of rights in a bog, far from peering eyes and and listening ears. There Fredric swore an oath, or pact, with the Djinn people that they refer to as a "wish". The cost of this wish is dire, for it not only says that he is part of the Djinn people, but that he will take upon him the curse of their people and live with it. He was also given his last name Desdemon which means "Ill-fated one". Saddened the chief knew the boy was full of energy and perk, but wherever he went the "wish" would follow.

Fredric has been suffering of migranes since a young age, and all the magical attempts of aiding them and medicine failed, sometimes with violent results. No one in the village knew why, but it had to do with Fredric's past, being abandoned to die let's some wretched things into one's being. The nosebleeds he suffers at nights are a different case. It seems he suffers from a severe illness that may one day take his life. No one knows exactly what it is, but it is a growth within his brain that has been there since birth. The Djinn didn't have money to send him to medicinal doctors and as such cared for him the best they could, some herbs they have seems to stop the growth from harming him so long as he steadily takes it.

The tribe was always moving, like shadows that never stay in the same place, moving in the blind spots of the government and avoiding almost all outside contact. He spent his childhood years doing nothing but training, finding it hard to make friends due to how different he was, yet there was one younger Djinn who looked up to him. She was his mother's true daughter, Sal'Hieg. Sal'Hieg's father and Uro'Quoi's life-partner did not accept Frederic, and shrugged him off as a mere pest. The family system of the tribe were rather complicated and the pride of the men knew no bound where as the women are very compassionate. Despite all this Fredric still persevered, for Sal'Hieg, his sister-at-heart. He wanted to be a knight in shinning armor that not only she, but all the people of the shadows may hold in high regards. For this he had to wait until he was an adult.

At the age of 18 he was allowed to leave the tribe and venture off. He found it hard leaving his secluded life but with many hours of strained thought he finally decided he was ready to go on his adventure, the one that could either lead him to total misfortune, or glory and the accomplishing of his lifelong dream, being a hero. With his goodbyes said, and his promise to the Chief held at heart he left on his adventure towards the small town of Shim, the closest settlement to his tribe.

Sorry it has taken us so long to get back to you after we last spoke in chat. I've had other members of the staff look over your character and together we realized that there were some additional changes that we would like made to the character.

As it is, your character is quite strong. He's skilled in martial arts, has some special magical weapons and he can cast magic. All of these skills would make him great in battle if that was something that we did here, but as it is, it seems like that composes most of what this character is about.

I'd like to see some real weaknesses, some shortcomings and some real goals he has to fight with. I want to see some real personality in him.

I want to know why he left the only home and family he knew to set off on some adventure. I want to know what skills, if any, he has in regards taking care of himself. I want to know what plans, if any, he has or what he hopes to expect to find in the outside world.
