Player Name: Anonymous
Name: Ðræuga Evorbane (dt-ray-OO-gah ev-ur-bayn)
Age: 24
Race: Human-Troll half-breed
Height: ~7'6”
Weight: ~250-300lbs
Physical Description:
Due to an impure bloodline of human and troll Ðræuga stands taller and more bulky than most pure-human males at around seven-and-a-half feet in height and close to three-hundred pounds in weight; his body carrying his weight primarily in muscle mass, having a small percentage of body fat. His skin, despite being in the fields day-in and day-out, keeps a wheat-beige tone rather than darkening from the sun. Some say the color is due to his Plain Troll roots, others say his half-breed troll skin is so thick and resilient is denies the sun its luxury of tampering with his color.
Despite his above average height and weight as well as a strong jawline and dominant brow his appearance reflects more that of his human lineage than his troll-kin. His hair is mud-brown in color while chopped shorter on the sides and back (~1”-2”) than the top which has a couple inches on the rest and worn in a haphazardly brushed back manner. His facial hair is just as haphazard as his hair-styling as nine-times-out-of-ten he will be seen with a couple day old 5-o'clock shadow though he tends to keep the lower-goatee portion a bit thick.
Ðræuga's eyes are nothing spectacular, they are a simple brown but a shade lighter than his hair. However, people have said (though not directly to him) when they look into his eyes it's not like gazing into those of another human being but into the eyes of a feral animal; as if staring down a grizzly bear. All in all, Ðræuga is a daunting figure to behold.
Powers or Strengths:
From tilling the fields and reaping the crop he has a very good sense of duty and physical well being though his lack of social interaction from a young age has made him more of a social pariah and nervous wreck when in the presence of crowds.
He's able to lift and move about the excess of six-hundred pounds, though not willy nilly, making him an ideal farmhand and mule with the possibility of much much more.
With his constant work on the farms he has accumulated a large number of Bishani though he gives the majority of it to his uncle having saved only 200 for himself.
Weaknesses:
Having stayed away from the masses for the better part of a decade he's become somewhat socially inept. When around others he stays quiet and very still for he knows his strength and to this day he still fears hurting people. This somewhat leads into the stereotype of trolls and half-troll kin being “dumber than a rock” however he is capable of reading and writing and a vast expanse of knowledge.
His anger is easily provoked and his heart defenseless and weak to emotion combining to make a dangerously explosive mix. With his strength and his social isolation he doesn't quite know the limitations to the human body, it's strength and weaknesses, therefore very easily hurting innocent humans entirely on accident.
No known magical abilities.
History:
Chapter I -- Sin in Creation
Gustaf Elrich lived in Marn the majority of his life with his family who was of moderate wealth, his own father an old Guardsman for the city and mother a seamstress. Though his sister Elizabetta followed in her mothers footsteps Gustaf was far from following his honorable and noble father, he tended to instead take life as a game and his upbringing for granted. By the time Gustaf was in his twenties he was a hardcore alcoholic and district nuisance. Under the excuse that he was neglected by his father and forgotten by his mother he stole a formidable amount of Bishani and rum from his families estate and set out North-East for Shim.
With the false name of Gustav Evorbane and an alcohol dependency the young man from an up-standing family began his life of substance abuse, asinine tomfoolery, and drunken mischief. For years he was nothing more than the town drunkard who was caught one too many times laying with the farm animals and disregarded by the majority of the townsfolk of Shim.
When he wandered drunkenly out of the town slinging an arsenal of curses and profuse language at the townsfolk no one cared where he was going – or if he'd return.
Having awoke the next morning, hung-over and lost, Gustav found himself in the brush near a small settlement of trolls to the east of Shim. At instant sight of a towering 8-foot half unclothed troll woman he fell in love, it was actually a step up from the sheep he usually would court. For weeks Gustav stalked the brutish female and tried to confront her with animal trophies, meats, and wines to win her favor; ever so surprisingly, to the readers dismay, it worked. It wasn't long before the human vagabond mated with the appeased and gluttonous female troll.
Finally running out of wine and rum Gustav's mind began to grow more and more clear and the past month of his actions settled in on him, even he was disgusted and appalled with his doings yet the greatest revelation was about to dawn on him. The troll was pregnant.
In panic Gustav did what he was best at and he ran, fleeing back to Shim which was but half-a-days trek and begged the townsfolk to overlook his past discrepancies, to give himself a chance to redeem his name. With a lie filled story that he had went to Marn to visit his sister he told tale of a sob-story that supposedly brought about his sobriety; how his dear sister 'Lizabeth' was raped by a ravenous troll and impregnated with it's devilish seed. With the sympathy of the towns people to his twisted lie they agreed to forget about his drunken history and to cut him a break giving him the opportunity to gain himself a home if he would work the fields for it – without hesitation he agreed.
Chapter II -– Neglectful Travesty
Months upon months rolled by and Gustav had tried to forget his past actions in the plains outside Shim though he could never stop thinking about it. Sober since he had returned to Shim Gustav was a humble farmer who earned himself a home and a place, though he seldom interacted with the rest of the town other than in the market. Unable to block out the memories of his acts, eight months after Gustav returned to Shim he announced he was to return to Marn – to check on his sister.
With a devious plan in mind Gustav set out the West side of Shim only to sneak back around towards the Eastern road and head out to find the settlement once more. Two days after his departure of Shim he found his way back to the settlement he tried so hard to forget only to find it barren, as if it had been vacant for a month – at least. He cursed himself and began to wonder his actions when he smelled smoke and a faint aroma of cooked meat. He sneaked about the empty encampment to the tent with a beacon of smoke rising from the center, spying from a distance.
Inside was a weary weak female troll and a young newborn that looked almost human. Gustav knew the child was of his making, though the troll seemed as if she had grown frail and weak. Do they love as we do, do they grow weary when they are heartsick as well? His thoughts gripped at his heart and for the first time in his life he felt remorse for another.
Valiantly Gustav marched his way to the tent only to stop outside it's open flap, the child smiling at him and looked at him with the same brown eyes Gustav would see if he were to gaze at his reflection in the Ofriyu River. He could do nothing to stop wells of tears pooling in the corners of his eyes as he looked to the frail troll who simply nodded at him before closing her eyes and slowly relaxing until she was fully limp. Gustav knew in his heart that she did not follow her people for she felt love for the man who fled her and trusted he would one day return.
The once ignorant and careless, naïve and thoughtless Gustav dropped to his knees and bellowed in agony with tears streaming his face – he took for granted the most powerful thing that would always break any barrier set before it, love.
Chapter III -– Genetic Isolation
Gustav returned to Shim, yet he did not come back alone. He told the townsfolk yet another lie though for once it pained him to do so. He said that Lizabeth had went into labor but hours after he made it to Marn and, after hours of trepidation, her body simply gave out to the strain of birthing the enormous newborn though the child survived. With no husband, no family but Gustav he had no choice but to take the child in and raise it is if it were his own.
No one seemed to question the validity of the tales Gustav spun their way for they believed this changed man would not lie, especially not about the death of his dear sister. Gustav returned to his home by the fields to raise this child, hardly being seen by the townsfolk with the exception of when he was in the fields.
Years passed and the young half-breed child, named Ðræuga, grew older, taller, and stronger. By the time Ðræuga was five years old he started hearing the stories whispered by the elder folk of Shim as to where he came from and the taunts of other kids his age; stories from which he was the spawn of a prostitute from Marn and a common troll.
Though he was half-troll and as resilient and tough as an ox, his heart was as weak as glass. Out of anger he lashed out at his peers and gravely injured a child three years older than he that said his mother was a whore and his uncle was into animal husbandry. Instantly Ðræuga regretted his actions and felt terrible for causing harm to another person and fled back to his home where he vowed he'd never leave.
For years the young half-breed kept to his word and stayed right there by his uncles side, working with him in the fields. By the time he was fifteen Ðræuga stood taller than most of the males in Shim and as physically fit as a Marnian Guardsman. Though his heart was weak, his compassion strong Ðræuga had a side to him that he could not control; a brewing anger that would boil over unprovoked. For this he never did return to the rest of the town of Shim, never leaving the farms.
Chapter IV –- Origin
As time passed by Ðræuga grew greatly. By the time of his twenty fourth year the half-breed Ðræuga towered over his common height uncle Gus' by at least two heads and stronger, possibly bigger, than most of the cattle and oxen. Having kept away from the populous for almost decade working from dusk 'til dawn in the fields Ðræuga has began to grow weary of isolation; dreaming of leaving the fields of Shim and finding a place in the world where none would judge him, a place where he can finally fit in...........

Re: Ðræuga Evorbane
Hello and welcome to Thar!
I would like to see more strengths and weaknesses for him to get a better feel for who he is as a person. Right now I know he's strong and has compassion, but that's pretty much it.
Unless they're selling illegal magical plant hybrids they wouldn't have a super large amount of bishani. I'm not sure how much bishani Draeuga has given to his uncle, but if it's over 1000 bishani they have stockpiled between them that's a lot for farmers. Farming in this area is definitely not an easy life, or one that will lead to cushy retirement. Especially considering that Daeuga is going to be eating A LOT of food, with a weight of around 300 pounds and most of that being muscle mass (I have a friend who is a personal trainer and mostly muscle. Hanging around 180-200 pounds, the guy eats about three times what I do at around 130 pounds and way more frequently. As well, the need for protein to support that muscle is much higher, and protein costs more money than plant food at that technology level. Maintaining a farm around the clock, they wouldn't have much time for hunting).
I'd also like to see his anger as a strength as well as a weakness; while certainly he'd feel bad after hurting others (weakness) the fact that he turns into a Thar equivalent of hulk is a strength.
I'd like a limit or a counter to that fabulous strength, as it makes him pretty capable of fucking shit up willy nilly. The one limiter you have, compassion, is rendered pretty much useless by his temper.
Courting sheep. Hilarious.
Marn and Shim are the only two permanent settlements within Thar Shaddin itself; while the troll encampment might hang out in Shaddin for awhile either their permanent settlement would be in another Thar or they might be nomadic and just happened to be there at that moment. It's also likely that if the trolls camped there too long guardsmen from Marn would shoo them off. If they didn't want to go, a battlemage might be dispatched to see that they do.
Or you could say they're just outside the Thar Shaddin, and he has to do some traveling to meet up with them. Or, maybe troll mama separated from her tribe and settled within Shim itself, albeit on the outskirts, or in the woods.
I question why, if his heart is as weak as glass, he turned to anger instead of becoming the proverbial whipping boy. Was it a matter of he couldn't take it any more? Did they perhaps start hitting him and he tried to defend himself? I'm not really sure what you mean by a weak heart. Emotionally fragile?
I'm not entirely sure working the fields dusk til dawn is feasible for his physique. The body is a pretty great thing: if you do repetitive movements day in and day out your muscles adjust to it and won't grow any bigger, which is why most farmers in non-high-tech countries despite their hard work are usually wiry and not built (also counting potential malnutrition issues). Perhaps he does a variety of things not just limited to the fields. Maybe he makes tools in his spare time?
I like the idea and love that he's a troll-human hybrid. He just needs a bit of tweaking to get him all the way there.
