Re: Wolfsbane
"Analisia Moonbright, Ana for short." She said simply. Smiling for a second. "No, I have no issues with Magic, as long as you don't direct it towards me. If you do, you won't live long enough to collect the rest of your pay. But as long as we understand that, we shouldn't have any issues."
She thought it was simple enough. It wasn't as though she was opposed to magic, not in the least. She was simply opposed to any danger coming to herself. Survival instincts and all that.
Looking back at the elf, she nodded slightly. "Knowing the way out of Zhaltev will be important. I give you that. So make sure you buy more than one map, preferably one of them being from the black markets. They tend to have all the little things about a place that lawful maps won't. Such as easy exits." She chuckled shortly, then her stomach rumbled.
I believe that I will go hunting soon, if you wish to join me. She sent to Dragon, hoping that his mind was open to it. If not then she would just have to assume that she was hunting for three.
"Once we reach Marn, we should pause and take our meal outside of the city. If you can hunt or gather food, then your help would be much appreciated. If not I can provide enough for the three of us. I just don't care for the idea of paying for that which nature provides freely." Analisia chuckled and pulled at her braid. Her fingers twisting slightly. She wasn't used to company, especially knowing that they would be together for quite some time. Reaching her hand out, she pet the top of Dragon's head as she let her mind wander.
After a few seconds, she shook her head as if to clear it. Then looked back at Noxus.
"Tell me Noxus, what made you take this little job?" Her curiosity lit up her face.

"And I, of course, would be more comfortable knowing my throat wont be torn out while I sleep," Noxus replied, still with the slightest of grins.
He trusted her, though confirmation by social contract could only solidify such things. He had never known a Shifter before, though their nature - or, rather, the fact that it varied as much as normal Sentients - was told to him in stories by his father.
"The black markets? No, too obvious. I know even darker markets. Do you know what hungry people will do for sustenance?" He inquired, limping ahead, "I'll get our map. Or maps, as you said, if need be."
He looked back, watching her and Dragon, the little thing still walking close to Ana.
"I'll hunt with you. And as to your question about the job. . ." He trailed off.
"Well, lets just say I didn't expect to be returning to Marn so soon," Noxus almost whispered, a darkness shrouding his face.

Re: Wolfsbane
There were times when the dragon wished he could understand why it was that two-leggeds flapped their lips so. Alas, he'd never been able to. It was all just this strange dance of gibberish and body language with them, and they did it constantly. It was almost as if they were communicating with one another, but nothing that complicated could ever actually mean anything, obviously. It was all just a game of intimidating and sex, he figured. The male was clearly trying to win over the female and take her as his mate, but the female had also even more clearly chosen the dragon as her mate.
It was, to say the least, unusual for her to have picked him. Of course he was a fantastic choice for a mate and a father to young dragonlings but he also was running under the assumption that she was going to eat him.
The female somehow asked him, "Food go me eat, you eat?" to which he began to bounce fanatically on his toes and trot ahead of the pair. Exactly where this edible food was he had no idea, but it was clearly somewhere and she knew how to get it. It seemed that he wouldn't be her next meal after all.
Or perhaps that was her whole game to begin with...
His bouncing slowed.

(Hope it's ok if I hop in ^^)
Poptart's steps were heavy and defeated. He had both lost his way and his prey in the time frame of only minutes. This area, wherever he was at this point, was new to him and he couldn't hunt like he had always done. The creatures behaved differently and he couldn't figure out how to catch them off guard. Now, hungry and defeated, he walked with no real clue what to do next.
It was then that he saw a pair with a bouncy creature. More importantly, a bouncy creature that looked edible. He approached the group slowly and did his best to not look threatening, any attempts to look friendly hampered by the mask made from the skull of an animal and adorned with feathers. He pointed to the scaly prey and slowly grunted out his request, "Poptart.. wants prey. Will work for food."
Poptart hoped they would be helpful. Although, if he had to, he reasoned he could probably just take the creature if he wanted it. He has bigger than both of them so he must be stronger.

Re: Wolfsbane
Analisia only smirked in reply to Noxus' comment about her ripping his throat out. Chuckling to herself at the mere image of it in her mind.
"Doesn't matter where you get the map, as long as it is worth it. And doesn't cost anything close to an arm, leg, breast or any other body part. I heal quickly, but I can't regrow limbs." She smiled at Noxus, pushing a stray hair behind her ear. She took in what he said about Marn, the way his face changed slightly at it's mention. Maybe she wasn't the only one with things she would rather keep hidden from others.
At the reaction of Dragon, and Noxus' agreement to join her hunting, she figured it would be easy to catch at least a few rabbits. She turned to the area surrounding the path, eyeing it to see if there were any game trails nearby. Might make finding a meal a little easier.
Instead, she found what appeared at first sight to be a troll. Jumping back and crouching she drew her daggers immediately. Growling low and snarling. Eyes black.
She listened to it's grunting voice, Poptart as the beast called itself. And apparently it was asking permission to eat Dragon. Standing a little straighter, though with her daggers still positioned for a fight. One cocked off to the side of her left hip, the right just at eye line.
She figured that if it were able to talk, it might understand that Dragon was not food.
"Prey is not prey, but pet." She said slowly, not sure of how much he would catch onto. Touching her left hand, dagger still held tightly, to her chest, she spoke again."I am Ana. Dragon, prey, is friend." At this she pointed down to Dragon, taking the smallest of steps in front of Dragon. Then turned a sharp glance over at Noxus, hoping that he were ready for whatever would come next.
"We go to find prey now. Join us?"
Analisia had no clue what had given her the idea, but if Poptart were willing to work for prey, he might be help later on. Especially if things ever came down to a fight.

"Oh but that's the glory in it. Quality without spending too much. " Noxus relied. He noted the comment about regrowing limbs; Though it may have been a joke, it was worth knowing.
Noxus was limping slowly ahead of Ana when he heard the heavy foot steps. Not knowing what might be coming, we readied a Mote circle of summoning. When the creature crushed through the bush, it seemed to try its best to look non-threatening.
After hearing the creature speak he figured it was a troll of some sort. He was instantly curious, having never seen them before, only hearing how dim-witted and murderous they were. He wasn't sure if they were normally able to talk.
Noxus murmured his contract with the Mote, the small orb appearing over the small paper contract. It glowed purple, radiating power. He stored it in the tip of his staff, the runes along his staff lighting up slightly, and took a few steps back, towards Ana.

Re: Wolfsbane
A huge, monstrous animal with a face like a dead bird unstealthily walked toward the group, which the dragon noticed immediately. He might have been a creature with few brains, but he had enough self-preservation instinct to notice a giant, predatory animal. Or at least, what he assumed to be predatory. Really anything larger than six feet he generally assumed to be a carnivore for no reason other than the back of his brain telling him that safe was better than sorry.
The moment he caught wind of the large animal he backed up a few feet and pushed his talons into the dirt of the road, tensing his body and trying to look bigger than he was. His spine arched like a rat's and his tail rose, waving slowly from side to side to serve as a distraction to the beast. The animal flapped its lips just like a regular two-legged, but it reeked of danger. It was simply too big for the dragon to trust, and he had met a few very large two-leggeds during his short life. He made a noise like a gnomish engine trying to start, and showed his teeth to the monster by opening his mouth as wide as he was able; this was very far, as his jaw had the ability to unhinge slightly at the back.
Then he breathed a hazy sort of gas out of his mouth, which bubbled as it was expelled and floated toward the beast. Unfortunately the wind happened to be facing the wrong direction, so the gas was pushed toward the party instead. It smelled like a hundred corpses had been dumped into an incinerator.
The female started flapping her lips at the monster, which confused the dragon and he started to make a noise that sounded like gears grinding together.

Re: Wolfsbane
Poptart tilted his head curiously at the small creature. It was clearly trying to be aggressive, his body language giving away as much. "Not prey... Little predator." He decided, acknowledging the creature's attempts at being strong. He liked the little scaled creature.
The woman spoke some more, her words simple and though Poptart wondered why she claimed the prey was not prey. According to her, the little one was prey, not prey, and a pet. Poptart remained silent for a moment, trying to decide how to respond. Before he ever decided on what to say, the woman went on to say they would be going to search for food soon. "Poptart will join you" his low voice rumbled, his voice sounding echoed behind the mask.
Poptart glanced over at the man for a moment, wondering what his role was. The woman seemed to be a hunter and the scaled one was her little predator. The man, though, seemed to be a burden from his physical appearance. He had a limp and didn't seem physically fit to wrangle a creature. Maybe this was one of those people his father had talked about; who didn't hunt for a living but lived in a giant community with other people. So why was he out here?

Analisia nodded slowly. Poptart had seemed to understand her, thank the moon. She turned her head sharply when Noxus summoned up a little ball of light. Not quite understanding what it was, she shrugged and moved forward towards Poptart.
That was, until Dragon's little gas bubble hit her delicate nose. Gagging, she jumped and ran away from the smell. Coughing and holding her nose and mouth shut while forcing her stomach down. After a few moments, she turned back to face the others, eyes still watering.
She listened to Dragon's little mechanical noises, her eyebrows furrowing together. This all would be so much easier if she could communicate better with the small beast. Or the troll for that matter. Taking a deep breathe, she nodded her head towards the forest.
"If we are to capture any food, we should head out." She said with a soft smile. Wondering how such a strange group was going to work out. She put her daggers away again, it would be easier to hunt, and keep track of Poptart and Dragon, in her wolf form.
Shuddering slightly, she huddled in her cloak. The shift was no longer painful, it was just more difficult when she wasn't angry. Growling lowly, she let her body slip into it's wolf form. When the change was done, she let her lupine eyes look over the rest of her group. Her paws digging into the fresh earth.

Re: Wolfsbane
Noxus' staff was tugged slightly toward the troll calling itself Poptart. Motes which were attracted to sources of magic, while still bound by a contract, would still try to seek out those sources. The small tug on the staff by the Mote that he had stored inside confirmed his suspicions that the troll was abnormal.
Still not trusting the creature, he mentally extended the contract on the Mote and kept it stored away for quick use.
The gas that the little dragon exuded was horrific, though he may have reacted worse had he not lived in some of the smelliest parts of Marn. His eyes watered and he could hardly breath, the gas working its way into his lungs and searing them slightly. His legs started to give out, the world blurring. He looked over at Ana, who seemed to be Shifting in slow motion.
It was when he dropped the glowing staff, the Mote shooting out of the top and searing a nearby tree before dissolving back to the Astral Plane, that he fell, wheezing. His last image that he remembered were the eyes of the troll beneath the skull mask.

Re: Wolfsbane
The dragon raised his tiny wings and pushed them forward, fluttering them rapidly in the air making them create a sort of chattering noise in the cool air. This was his finest scare tactic to make himself look gigantic. It appeared to be working, sort of. The creature wasn't exactly backing down, but the scent of fear and stress in the others was dissipating. The female seemed to be a little less on edge, although he had no idea how any animal could not be on edge with a beast this size about to eat them.
The female certainly hadn't liked his scare tactic, running off for a minute as the bubbling gas entered her senses. Unfortunately it didn't seem to affect the giant at all due to the wind, much to the dragon's disappointment.
Soon after she returned to him, the female was eaten again by the big fanged animal from before. Such a thing was incredible, and frightening, and horrifying, and he hated it. The dragon chirped a note of fear and watched the animal beside the forest. It smelled, strangely, nearly identical to the female herself. Such a thing could not be possible because she had clearly just been devoured by the beast. The dragon began to snap his teeth together to make a clicking sound in stress. The confusion overwhelmed him. Just as he was click, click, clicking his teeth,
thump.
Wheeze.
The dragon jumped two feet in the air as a sparkly light flew over the party and struck a tree nearby. He looked over only to see that the male two-legged had fallen over for no apparent reason. Naturally, he wanted to see what was amiss, and also wanted to get away from both the giant predator and the big fanged beast. So he ran over to the elf and poked him in the side with his nose.

Re: Wolfsbane
Poptart watched the strong woman and weak man be affected by some sort of... well, something. The woman recovered after a bit, stating that they needed to move and shifting into a creature that was fitting for the hunt. The weak man, on the other hand, seemed to handle whatever was causing the two discomfort, at first. Then he fell over and caused Poptart to chuckle "weak man, indeed."
Poptart lumbered towards the man and reached towards the man, brushing the dragon aside carefully. He had learned very early on that so many things were weak and he had inadvertently killed far too many small animals with careless gestures. He picked the man up and slung him over the left shoulder.
Poptart glanced back towards the strong woman, taking hold of his staff from his back in his right hand. "Weak man will not slow Poptart. Lead on" the low voice echoed, his even, low-toned, voice rumbled.

Re: Wolfsbane
Analisia almost let out a yelp as the odd thing shot from Noxus' staff. Then stared intensely at him, wishing she could get ahold of her daggers in this form. Instead she merely sniffed loudly, her tail twitching almost violently.
She didn't like surprises. And that sparkle thing was a little more surprising than she cared to admit. She looked over as Dragon whirled and clicked like a machine. What an odd little creature.
Her tongue lolling out slowly, she watched the interactions of the group. Dragon moving over to tap Noxus with his nose, then Poptart moving to pick up Noxus and toss him over his shoulder. It was amusing to say the least. Standing up, she moved over towards Poptart, Noxus, and Dragon. Her tail flicking softly to help keep her balance.
She wouldn't waste her time sending any thoughts their way. They all seemed to get the picture, Poptart especially. Twitching an ear towards the surrounding forest, she licked her chops and turned, nose low to the ground to try and catch the scent of food.
Her sharpened vision told her that there was something flickering in the shadows not to far off, but seeing as she was upwind from the creature, she couldn't tell if it were tasty or not. Analisia moved in slinking motions, barely making noise as she headed towards the unknown creature. Hoping that Poptart and Dragon could be quiet enough not to disrupt the hunt.
And also hoping that Noxus had better ideas for finding food than being slung to the strange troll's back.

Re: Wolfsbane
The dragon's gas must have had some mind-altering effects. As he closed his eyes from looking at the troll, the creature seemed to come with him into the darkness, it's eyes piercing his very soul.
It was only when the troll warped and changed forms that he realized where he was.
"Hello again, Portal," the creature whispered, it's eyes never leaving his. The voice seemed indecisive, changing and amplifying randomly. Its form was that of a mist, which was erratic and shifting, the cold blue eyes staring out from the middle.
"You wont be here for long, sadly. So I'll make this quick. Find a prime physical candidate and sacrifice them to me," the words were whispered into his ear as a extremely complex arcane circle came into his mind, searing itself into his vision. "Use this to release me. Of course, with every contract is a price. I shall be forever indebted to you."
The Astral Plane violently distorted around him, the ground, where there was one, was thrown into the darkness above.
Noxus tried to speak but could not. The whole experience was overwhelming for him.
"Even now you are beginning to wake. Speak to no one of this and seek my sacrifice."
The world around him shattered and he awoke with a scream, gasping for air with his seared lungs.

The world around him shattered and he awoke with a scream, gasping for air with his seared lungs.
Re: Wolfsbane
There was just too much going on.
The dragon's heart was beating rapidly, so rapidly that he made a light squealing sound when the monstrosity of a troll came toward him and the elf and simply plucked the man up off the ground. It was all just a bit too much for him to handle. It was so scary that he wet himself a little, although his spirits weren't dampened in the least. It took a lot to kill the spirit of a creature with such few brains. He was still revering in the fact that he wasn't in a barred box anymore, thanks to his female.
It all seemed too fast and too terrifying to him, but the group, becoming a group quicker than a flash, trekked on to their hunt. It was a strange looking group for anyone who happened to glance upon them as they entered the Virdara Woods. One half-troll, one large wolf, an elf, and a domestic dragon, all cooperating for the time being as they watched for something to eat. It was the beginning of a long and difficult adventure waiting for them, one which would either make them rich or seal their doom.
Hunting was something the dragon had never been particularly good at. He had survived on his own for years by stealing chickens from the farmers of Shim, occasionally taking wild birds and rodents. Hunting had always been about one thing that he lacked: patience. Finding food was never about simple finding the food and jumping after it, it was about finding the food, and watching, and waiting, for hours on end. It was only when you had waited for long enough that the time to pounce was there, wide open for the hunter. Even after all the waiting, the chance of success was slim, at best.
But the dragon had seen the way that two-leggeds hunted. They were cheaters, they were. They carried weapons that sent sticks shooting forward into their food, or even big heavy metal objects with one or more sharp edges to them. Two-leggeds didn't have to wait for their food, they barely even had to be patient at all. It was a big part of the reason why he liked being around them. Getting food from them was easy; they did all the work.
There was a smell on the wind as they walked, conspicuous as ever with the lumbering monster following them. The dragon stayed close to the four legged beast's side, a beast that smelled so similar to the female that it gave him some comfort. The smell was one he recognized, but not an animal he usually went for. Hooved things were too big for him to catch, and too fast for that matter. There was no way they'd even be able to get near one with the giant with them.
He huffed a little noise out his nose at this thought.
