Mr. Glad was becoming a more common sight in Shim due to the amount of business that Autumn was bringing him. Normally Spring was the busiest time of the year, with young children and exotic, rich travelers looking for a knick knack of sorts to buy from him. Most of the inhabitants of Shim had come to expect the brightly colored cart, pulled by a huge red mule, and its accompanying master about once every month.

Mr. Glad, known by the Marnian government as Angladu Majumdor, was one of the strangest traveling salesmen who frequented the town of Shim. The cart that the elephant-sized, bright red mule dragged was filled with strange noises and chirping coming from the interior. Designs of heathen monsters and Changers flooded the wood paneling, drawn crudely with cheap paints and a poor hand. They detailed a summary of what it was that Mr. Glad sold, and why the people of Marn disliked him so. With him, he brought animals of all shapes and sizes inside of cages, stacked six feet high on the cart. None of them were native, and all of them appeared to have some magical tendencies about them. Among them were large birds with bright blue and green beaks that sang pieces of the song "Changer on the Winds of War" at broken intervals. There was a large furry animal with a rat-like tail and fanged teeth which made chattering noises in its lonely box. A spotted cat of the Setkhantos region growled and showed its distaste for the situation by showing its little feline teeth. A domestic dragon blew little stink bubbles from its container, causing the animals surrounding it to cause such a fuss that Mr. Glad hit the cart with his maple-wood cane.

Mr. Glad had long, black hair that looked like it had been struck by lightning that morning. In some places it stood on end, while in others it lay as flat as a board against his skull. He had a gaunt face that made him perpetually appear unhappy with a little "u" stamped on his forehead. As per usual, Mr. Glad placed several of the boxes of animals on top of the cart, several of them below, and some stacked on the side. He took a sign from within the cart that had Eyropan, Darleone Elvish, and Zhaltevian written on it in huge letters, which read: THE GREAT EXOTIC EMPORIUM.

Standing near the Red Chalice in the only square in Shim, Mr. Glad rigidly pulled a long cigar from his leather coat, and lit it.

The only difference between that afternoon and others when Mr. Glad was in town, was that today he had placed a small sign on the front of the cart which said, "WEREWOLFS WANTED," in chipped blue paint.

The domestic dragon chewed the iron bars of his box.

Her lean form hidden beneath the folds of a heavy cloak, Analisia was headed towards the inn. She really just wanted a small drought of ale and then to pass out, sleep the day away. Stray hairs framed her face, the rest tucked away in a tightly coiled braid. She weaved her way through the streets, only to come to a complete halt at the far end of the square. She had seen the cart and it's master before, ignoring it usually. But today there was a sign in front.

Frowning slightly, she moved closer to the cart. Stopping a few feet away, far enough to keep the smell of the animals down-wind, but close enough to read what the sign said.

"Werewolves wanted, hm." She said under her breath. The frown deepening. What would the owner of such an array of creatures want with werewolves. She nodded to Mr. Glad, her frown still marring her face. If she were lucky, she could ignore her inner voice long enough to escape inside the inn without drawing any more attention to herself. However, Analisia was never that lucky. She moved closer to the odd man, the smell of the cigar making her nose twitch violently. "I would have figured that you had enough creatures to make you a small fortune. Yet you still feel the need to find more beasts?"

Her arms crossed under her breast, the cloak shifting enough to bring her odd clothing into view. Men's trousers that hung loosely from her hips, a blouse the color of willow bark. The clothing was loose enough to make men question her sex, were it not for a far too feminine, if sharp, face. While her arms were crossed, she let her hands drape just enough to graze the tips of her daggers. She really didn't want to use them and make a fuss right now, but with that sign on Mr. Glad's cart, she honestly couldn't be careful enough.

A man approached him. The silhouette of his tanned, well-muscled body swiftly melted into a dazzling, shapely woman who looked a bit taken aback by his cart. Mr. Glad was used to people staring at the cart. In fact he was a little confused when they didn't stare at the cart, with the exception of the local menagerie of wealthy populace. Nobles weren't usually interested in the cart unless they were young and had a lot of money to spend on a given day. Many nobles had seen their share of the world and its worldly pleasures, and most of them had little interest in taking home with them an absurdly colored chicken that happened to lay pink eggs. Mr. Glad sold living novelties, and such novelty wore thin the second time they were purchased.

"Nah, not werewolves, werewolfs, says the sign, see there?" He pointed to it as if she couldn't read, underlining the word with a motion of two bony fingers. "Kid who painted it for me wasn't much fer brains I'm 'fraid," he laughed, but it felt hollow and rickety in the air. Mr. Glad was not much of a cheerful fellow.

"Beasts? Nay, of course not lass," he shook his great mane of hair. His accent was strange. It was a mixture of three or four different languages from opposite ends of the earth. It was rough and twangy and gritty all at once, like a bad casserole. "See I'm in a new market of sorts, gots me some clientele from the East that wish me to gather some material for em. Alchemists or some such, and man, they're pleadin' me with a good bit of money see?" A grin, slimy and nasty stretched across his waxy face, showing poor teeth.

"You in the market for a job, lass? Findin' me a werewolfs will bring a pretty penny to your pocket, eh?" Something in one of the boxes rattled. The dragon of Shim, all orange and angry, was unhappy in his box. He hadn't eaten in what felt like an age, and his wings were smashed against his backside. He didn't like it.
"What say you lassy?"

Analisia watched his face, trying to hide her disgust at the poor hygiene. The offer wasn't exactly pleasant either. Going to go find werewolves, the exact beings she was doing her best to stay away from. She shifted her hand to her coin purse, feeling it's weight.

Light.

"Well it just so happens that I could use a job. Though do you really expect to find werewolv... I mean uh, werewolfs, anywhere near here?" She asked the question sarcastically, smirking lightly. She turned her head at the sound of a rattling cage. Her eyes softening at the sight of such a creature as the orange dragon. "Where do you plan on taking this little search?"

She turned her eyes back to Mr. Glad, their shade just a touch darker. Moving slowly, she approached the caged dragon, holding out her hand to let him smell her. It made her sad to see him in such a cramped space, but considering what Mr. Glad was, she could understand his hesitancy to allow the creature to roam about freely.

"Hey there big guy." She whispered softly, the hand not out-stretched moving to push back her braid.

Noxus spent a few days in The Woods, re-writing his books and resting. With the help of a Fire Sprite, he took down and cooked a young buck. It was the best meal he had had in years.
Still willing to continue his research, he tried a new arcane circle, which produced some sort of purple bat creature. He couldn't tell if it was a Spirit or some type of Sprite, which he noted in his new journal. The creature wouldn't obey him at all, something he would work on later. He packed up his belongings and continued his journey into Shim.

Slowly limping along the road, he passed the Red Chalice Inn and noticed a commotion in the main square, which he headed for.
Upon arriving, Noxus was taken aback by the brightly colored cart and the great red mule which pulled it.
Noxus sat down on a sack of some sorts and watched, seeing a woman in a heavy cloak speaking to what seemed to be the merchant leading the gaudy cart.
His runed staff caught the light and drew the eye of the merchant.

"Expect 'em? Babycakes, the place is crawlin' with the lupine variety if you know where to look. Course I'm not much for identifying the sombitches, but you could do me some investigatin' and find out, see?" Mr. Glad said 'see' more than was necessary when he spoke, so much that it felt almost insulting to talk to him. "I need a person of a certain, ehr, caliber let's say, to head over to Zhaltev and speak with a friend 'o mine. I'd go myself only I got this here cart to maintain, see? And Zhaltev ain't been kind to me the last time I stepped there. Great city. Not fer me though, get it?"

The dragon, feeling unfortunate and particularly unhappy that afternoon, opened his mouth when the girl came near him and gave a wide and displeased yawn. The stink that came from his breath was quite wretched, as he'd been blowing gas bubbles for the past few hours off and on. The creature bumped its nose against the bars of the box and stuck his long, lizard-like tongue out and ran it over one of her lithe fingers. She smelled, and tasted, like salt. Salt and fur. Fur was a strange one, most people didn't taste like fur. Well, except for some four legged people. The ones that hissed and spit and smelled like pee and dust were his least favorite, but she smelled more like the dampness of the other four legged peoples. The ones with the tongues and barking bits.

Mr. Glad was going to try to pawn the dragon off on the girl when something shiny caught his eye. He was like a bird in that he enjoyed shiny things, mostly because they brought a fair profit no matter how little they were actually worth, as long as he sold them to the right people. It came from a staff held by an elf.

"Fancy a bespeckled Pondurian goat, you sir there? You look just the type!"
The bespeckled Pondurian goat was another, far less used name for a white breed of goat popular on Darleone Island.

Noxus stood up and limp towards the merchant for what seemed forever; finally arriving next to the woman he had been talked to just before. He took a quick peek into the cart before looking the man in the eye.
"I haven't the Bishan or the will to trade, sir. I did, however, happen to overhear something about a job," Noxus motioned to the woman next to him, who was staring back intensely, "If you need someone to sniff something out, I'm your Elf."

I hope.

Noxus hear a whimpering sound from the cart, the source being an orange dragon. The eyes of the creature looked up at him with knowing.

Analisia winked at the Dragon when he licked her. Though her nose twitched sharply at the smell of his yawn, she could ignore that for the most part. When the elf walked up to her, she looked him up and down, reaching with her hand to touch the nose of the dragon.

"I suppose I could use help finding these werewolves. I'm pretty handy with my daggers, so if you are willing to... sniff them out... was it.. then I could offer protection along the way," she turned her sharp gaze back to Mr. Glad. "But we get an equal split of any profit you make from this venture." Smirking, she turned back to the Dragon, eyebrows raising.

She pet the orange Dragon's nose softly, doing her best to ignore the glowing staff that had accompanied the elf.

"Oh, and maybe your friend here could join us?" It was less of a question and more of an order. Analisia really wasn't great at socializing. But she liked the Dragon, and figured that he could be of use. "By the way, I'm Ana."

"Hmmm," said Mr. Glad, pondering over what the elf had said. It was a bit unusual to have an elf of all things offer to sniff something out. It all seemed stranger than usual to him. The way he looked at the girl made it look almost like he knew her, and this made the merchant suspicious. On occasion, he would have people try to con him, especially during the rare times in which he offered jobs. It was unlike him to require the help of the public, but Lilith was very specific about her request for materials, and there was only one person he knew who could get them for her.

The question was whether it would cause a stir-up or not. The Zhaltevian government could be pretty nasty sometimes, and they already knew of Mr. Glad and his whereabouts.

The other question was if Lilith could get the formula to work or not. He had his doubts, but if it did, they'd be among the richest in Eyropa. Hell, even if it didn't, there was profit to be gained from selling such a thing.

"I will offer fifty if you're able to find me one today; for that you'll need to go into Marn and seek a wolf from the fouler areas of the city. Forty if it takes two days, thirty for three, and twenty if it takes any longer. And really, it must be a wolf, or I'll never be able to get what I need from Zhaltev," he detailed. Fifty was a fair bit of bishani, but not a great amount split between two people. Still, it wasn't as if he was asking them to go somewhere dangerous.
Yet.

"That dragon is worth a fair bit of money you know. Them domestic breeds are popular with nobility. Not sure if I could just let you take the damn thing," he frowned. So deep were the lines in his face that he looked like a drawn caricature when he did so. The dragon shoved the side of the box with his pudgy body and made little squealing noises. "Though he is an annoying beast to manage," he growled.
"Give me some insurance in case the stupid thing gets itself killed and then we'll see."

She'd give him money now for the beast, and he'd use her wage to pay for the animal later. And he could always forget to give back the "insurance."

Analisia scowled for a moment. Of course he would force her to actually find a wolf, and though it may be worth 25 Bishani, she wondered if it would be worth the trouble caused by outing herself. She rocked on her heels for a moment, eyeing first the elf, than Mr. Glad.

"Make it thirty Bishani each, not split, and I can do better than taking the time to search one out." She scowled again and willed her body to change. The iris' of her eyes going jet black, so dark that it seemed at though the pupil had just expanded. Groaning softly, her body first elongated, then cracked softly. After a few moments there was a brown wolf with sharp eyes sitting where Analisia had stood. With a wolfish grin, she reached up a paw and licked it pointedly, allowing her fangs to be seen. Then she stood and trotted over to the Dragon, pushing her nose up against the cage.

I'll get you out of there soon. She sent to the Dragon's mind, then winked and padded back over to Mr. Glad and the elf. Snapping at Mr. Glad, she snarled, then changed back to her human form. Looking slightly worse for wear.

"Now you have you're wolf, give the elf his money; keep mine as insurance until I return, Dragon by my side. And since it was such speedy service," Analisia said with a dark smirk, her eyes still pitch black, the edges of her iris' warbling from the change. "... I think that thirty should be no problem." She hooked her hands on the edges on her daggers, thumbs tucked into her belt, nails tapping against the steel edges impatiently.

Walking away, with Ana trotting ahead, from the ironically deflated Mr. Glad, Noxus shook his newly filled purse. He was actually quite surprised to see that he was still invited on the journey, seeing as a werewolf could certainly hunt their own kind quite efficiently. He watched her from the back, wondering if the deal would end once they were out of view.

He picked up his pace a bit, his staff leaving divots in the ground as he limped along. As he caught up to Ana, both her and Dragon, who was trotting along side her, turned to look at him.

"So, about the plan. We get into Marn and gather up some supplies with our new-found Bishani, including a map, and then set out for Zhaltev. Yes?" Noxus wheezed the last word, trying to keep pace with the woman.

What happened left Mr. Glad baffled. So baffled, that he did the rare thing of not bothering to haggle with the girl. He had seen shapeshifters before, but something about a werewolf with twin daggers made him a little more than wary. Still, it pleased him to an extent; he was convinced now that she, and the elf too, would be able to handle a trip to Zhaltev and speak with Igurus, the current Zhaltevian Minister of Medicine. They were to speak to him on Mr. Glad's behalf and ask him about two particular items.

One of them was a book, which would have been forbidden in Marn, called "The Eyes of Diana," which contained an archaic alchemy formula that Lilith had requested.

The other were the deceased remains of a spider shifter who went by the name of Goro, who had died two weeks prior. With these items they would return to Shim in no less than three months, where Mr. Glad would pay them a small fortune for their services. A total of six hundred bishani each would be dished out to the two of them, a fair price for a heavy job.

Mr. Glad would pay them, but he didn't like these two freaks at all. He especially didn't like having his money taken from him, but he supposed he would get them back later for it.

He let the dragon run off with them, which was amusing; when the animal was released from its box, it made a squeal of joy and took a piss on the ground on front of them, as if that had been what it was waiting for the entire time. The dragon was happy to be free, to say the least, and although he was a little terrified of the female who had freed him, there was a strange attraction he felt to her.

There were a few things the dragon had never been particularly fond of, and one of them was whatever those four legged slimy things were with the tongues. The female had been eaten by a giant one with teeth and bity bits and he just didn't know what to do about that. He didn't understand it at all. Then right after, the female had eaten the giant thing with teeth and was back again! Amazing. It made absolutely no sense, and he was terrified that a two-legged would do something like that. What if she decided that she would eat him next?

He generated little whirring noises that grated the air around them as they walked.

Analisia was a bit smug, having gotten exactly what she wanted from Mr. Glad. Thirty Bishani was great, would have kept her in ale for weeks, but six hundred after a simple three month journey to get a body and a book? It was almost insane.

Which of course made her question exactly what Mr. Glad was planning on doing with these items.

She dwelled on these things as she scouted around, while the elf limped behind her and the dragon trotted beside her. She slowed her pace slightly to allow the elf to catch up when it seemed that he was having more than a little trouble.

She paused for a moment before answering, they had never actually gotten directions from Mr. Glad, so she supposed that it made sense. "Yeah, we can do that. Though I am not sure if the Dragon should be allowed inside the city itself. Or even if he would be..." She chuckled to herself. Dragon was giving her a good excuse to not go into the city, and she was being completely honest with her traveling companion.

"I have most of the supplies I will need for the journey, plus I tend to travel light, hunt on the road." She shrugged, it wasn't as though she needed to pack food, and she always kept her sleeping gear in her pack. So she wasn't sure what the elf might need in the city, other than the map he had mentioned.

She slowed down her pace a bit more, motioning for Dragon to do the same. It seemed as though the great beast was acting a bit different since she had changed in the square. She wondered what was going through the creature's mind. She decided to find out as soon as she had figured out more from the elf.

"I never got your name... Sort of important for two people traveling across foreign lands and watching each other's backs." She extended her hand to him as she continued walking. Why waste time pausing for pleasantries.

He paused while walking, leaning on his staff to take off his black-leather gloves before matching the pace of the woman.
"Noxus of the Darkwood elven branch," said he, shaking the woman's hand.
"I can live off the land as well and I know what it is to go without. However, there are some items which I might need. As well as the map leading to and around Zhaltev. If the amount we are being paid is correct we will most likely stumble into trouble. Knowing the best route out of such a situation may be life-saving." Said Noxus, exaggerating the his last words by shaking the gloves that he has just taken off.

They had just passed a sign indicating that Marn was still a two hour walk away.

"Of course, I didn't get your name either. Also, a question before we move any farther," Noxus stopped and leaned on his staff once again. He had an almost indetectible smile on his face.
"You aren't afraid of a little magic, are you?"

The dragon had met many two-leggeds he had liked. He'd met almost as many that he hadn't particularly liked for various reasons, with the latest of them being disliked because he had been stuffed into a little iron box for days. Weeks even. It felt amazing to get back out and stretch his stubby little legs, that much was for certain. His feet felt like little puddings hitting the dirt road to Marn from lack of use. His tummy was rumbling a bit and he felt thin; if they had been near the place with the Big Pile, he would have gone lunch diving right about now, or maybe stolen a chicken from the Fence Place. Either one sounded deliciously appetizing to his hungry little self.

The female motioned for him to move slower, and he did so, almost instinctively. That she had such control over her body was incredible to him; other two-leggeds were usually fantastically unaware of how stupid they acted around him. Always kicking their legs this way and that, never paying attention to their surroundings. It was a strange way of life.

She, on the other hand, had the strange gift of guiding him. It was almost as if she spoke dragon, and that in itself was a weird thing since he didn't even speak dragon. He was still worried that she would eat him at some point, but the worry was lessening as his short term memory died as it did every hour.
