Name: Aric Fleetwood
Age: 21
Race: Human/Fey
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 135
Physical Description: His lean form and graceful demeanor often draw eyes and hushed whispers wherever he goes, not that he notices at all. His long dark blonde hair usually falls down, framing his face is light and feathery, seeming to never be out of place, even when he ties it up in a leather strip for particularly difficult magics or strenuous activities. His fascinating beauty is a factor of his unfortunate heritage, being half fey. His eyes are typically the feature that people notice most, as they are dark brown farthest from the pupil and a light amber color nearest the pupil. On his right hand he has a Tattoo of a simple formula on his palm.
Possessions:
- Gold Pocket watch: Given to him by his master, he cherishes it and holds it, hoping that the luck and fame it brought his master will rub off on him as he determinately works to become a member of his proud Government
- Walking Cane/Hidden Sword: A weapon that he had made specifically for himself during his many years of training, with the thought that a hidden weapon would always be beneficial for him. The blade itself is thin, but it is about two feet long, the length of the cane. The Sheath of the blade is also covered in invisible runes and magics, keeping the blade sharp through magical means along with allowing Aric to concentrate his energies through it for certain spells.
- Rapier: A weapon that was his favorite from the time they began to practice combat. Its speed and precise nature use his natural abilities for a deadly combination of steel and master.
- Unseen Servant: During his studies his master taught him the art of summoning creatures from the Astral Plane to do his bidding with contracts and agreements. His first summoning was a minor entity named Harringer, whom he was able to trick into a lifetime of servitude. The entity follows him around and does small things like helping him carry things, opening doors, and other small tasks. It has no combat abilities or experience.
- Natural Magical Ability
Being Half Fey he inherited not only a natural inclination to magic, but also a deeply intimate understanding about it, though it is something he cannot explain to anyone. As a result he picked up on it faster than his companions, but also was able to help them practice and get the art right. This natural inclination was what made him able to practice his more physical abilities. - Spell List
---------Runic Arts---------
A difficult art to master thanks to the excessive amounts of formula and symbols that are required to be committed to memory or carrying around massive tomes or scrolls with instructions. Aric is far from mastery, and with the loss of his master's library he is without reference material except for what he was able to remember.
- Astral Calling: A difficult art that his master was a specialist in. It is basically the ability to summon an entity from the Astral Plane through the use of complex symbology, written word formula and incantation the user can bring into the Material plane an entity of the Astral Plane, where they can use their abilities to preform tasks for the summoner, though it is usually a complex ritual to contain the entity, and then an even more complex one to come up with a contract that both can agree too before the entity will preform any task. Some such contracts are something like before the entity preforms a task they must be fed a very specific meal before and after, or even that they require a human sacrifice in the case of some of the more powerful creatures. This is a skill that Aric himself doesn't very often use due to the extreme amounts of preparation that goes into it, but it is one he is proficient at, due to it is the one that his master wanted him to learn the most. A key to the summoning is that it takes energies from the summoner, the stronger the entity the more energy it takes to force them into this world and hold them there. ((I would like to talk to anyone in charge, mod or admin, about this particular ability. Im willing and would rather prefer for a mod or admin to actually be the one to control higher spirits and creatures that are summoned, which would make it more interesting for me I think.))
- Magical Bolts: A simple spell that uses a linear runic formula to channel the user's Mana into a compressed bolt of magic that upon impact will cause a small explosion equal to the amount of power put into the formula.
-Magical Shield: Another simple formula that is tattooed onto his palm of his right hand, and when he puts energy into the formula it erects a simple shield that protects him from both physical and magical. The more energy that is put into it the stronger and longer it lasts.
His Craft has been significantly restricted due to the loss of him being able to use his master's library, filled with the books that he could work with to do even more spells. Fortunately he will be able to replenish it if he is successful in his journeys go as he hopes.
And finally because of his focus on two different arts, the martial arts and the magical arts, his foccs on both is split and thus he isn't as powerful without having both, if he is restricted at all, he suffers.
History: From even before he was born Aric's history has been a sad and disastrous one. His mother, Sarah Hightower, was a bar maid in greater Eyropa in her late teens. Her parents had been killed in a conflict with another family in their home town, where a family friend had taken her away to a bigger town to avoid her being killed also. During her time as a bar maid a powerful Fey lord took a fancy to her, but she avoided all of his advances, keeping him away from her. This made him mad, enough that he decided to force himself upon her. Late one night as she was heading back to her apartment he set a special Glamor upon a building, making it irresistible to her she entered it. As she walked through the abandoned building she believed that she was seeing the most beautiful and amazing riches ever conceived, but in reality she was just walking through rooms filled with dank and mold.
At the top of the house she came upon the master of the house, the Fey Lord, Meilorn Highbrook. He proceeded to have his way with her while she was trapped within the world of his creation, but he didn't account for everything. During the rape he accidentally impregnated her, and somehow at the moment of conception, the spell was broken. One could say that the act of human life being created is so magical that the border between the two planes ripples, creating a magical response, or that Meilorn being a Faery might have accidentally touched the Astral Plane upon his climax, either way she woke up and realized what he did to her and fought back. She was able to kick and claw him off of her, cutting three lines in his face as she did so. She ran from the building, and hid in her apartment until the next day, when her family friend, who had brought her to the town. He listened to her story, and they both knew they had to leave.
They started out, deciding to leave Eyropa, go to Thar Shaddin, but Meilorn didnt like that, he didnt like her leaving, or what she did to him, so he had her followed by several of his greatest Magical Warriors. Luckily Sarah had fallen in with a band of understanding warriors who didnt like the idea of the Faery taking advantage of her like that. Together they lead the warriors across Eyropa for the next nine months, having several fights, killing one of the hard to kill Fey warriors every mash up, eventually wearing them down to the last one. In their victory they got lax and didnt realize that Meilorn himself had decided to pursue himself. Upon the night of his child's birth he attacked, destroying the company of warriors, and leaving only the mother and child alive, or so he thought. One warrior, who's love for Sarah had grown in the months they had traveled together, survived Meilorns initial attack with mortal wounds and was able to strike out one last time, killing Meilorn right before he could cast the spell to force Sarah into his control forever, though as his arrow struck the spell backfired, killing Sarah, and the last warrior, but Sarah protected Aric with her body, keeping him from dying. That was His first night on earth.
It wasnt long before he was found by a small group of Thar Shaddin Fey stumbled upon him, attracted by Meilorn's powerful magical outbursts. They inspected the scene and figured out what had happened, and then they discovered Aric. He doesnt remember any of what happened after that, being so young, but they raised him for a time, until he was old enough to walk, they delivered him to a small orphanage in Marn, where he lived to the age of six. The women who ran the orphanage were mean and tended to beat the children for the smallest things. Aric wouldnt take it, and thus took several of the other orphans and ran, with them included a young Half-Orc name Thaddius, and two human brothers, Sombrick and Brodrick Nineclouds.
Together for the next three years they survived on the streets, learning the ways of the people and surviving by working together. When they turned nine years old a group of older kids had come into the area they had claimed as their own and began messing with them. A fight ensued and they were getting horribly beat. Luckily A passing Magician, a friend to the state who was visiting Marn on official business saw the fight, and was inspired by the fact that the younger boys wouldnt submit to the bigger and older boys, and he stopped the fight, and decided right then and there to take them with him, and to give them a better life.
The Magician's name was Hommeriff the Vast, for his exploits were great. He had always fought for Thar Shaddin when he was needed, but in his age, he wasnt a very reliable asset because he couldnt fight like he once could. But these boys made him realize that he could do something else for Thar Shaddin, and that was raise the next generations. He took them to his house just out of the outer limits of Shim, gaining the proper permissions he began training them in all manner of warfare and Magic, though only two took to the magic, and that was Sombrick and Aric. Together they all challenged each other in their arts, gaining more and more strength together.
They were taught the importance of the government, and the role that everyone must play to make Thar Shaddin a place of peace and wonder, how it was the shining light in the world of darkness. They were taught that love to their country came first to all else. And they lived by that code within the boundaries of Hommeriff Manner.
Though everything was well, Aric still didnt know who his parents were, and although his Fey Features weren't as obvious, he always knew that he was different, just hasnt ever known why.
When he turned 21 his master sat down with him and announced that upon his death he wanted the manner to go to Aric, whom he regarded as the leader of his four disciples, and he wanted him to start a school to train the next generation of warriors for Thar Shaddin. Unfortunately before he could alter his will a massive fire was started by accident, destroying the manner and and killing Hommeriff, who used the last of his magics to save his staff and his students. It was then that he found out that the original will dictated that his entire estate would be absorbed into the government of Thar Shaddin, what his master had considered the greatest gift to the government he loved so much. No amount of pleading would get the government officials to listen to his master's true wish. So dejectedly him and his comrades went to Shim and began plotting their next move in their life.
Aric decided that he wanted to join up with the Battlemages, even if his comrades didnt want to. Thaddin decided he wanted to go and try to get into the army, and the other two decided they wanted to be mercenaries for the government, thus being, they separated, for the first time since they were children. Since then Aric has been traveling to Marn, wanting to join up with the Battlemages, and serve his wonderful government
