Summary: Somehow getting past the guards posted at the gates of Darleone Island, Syrinia travels through the large expanse of land at night trying to find a safe place to rest after receiving a life-threatening spear wound to her side just under her rib cage. She ends up climbing into a tree and pulling off an apple from a nearby branch, attempting to eat something.
Once the whole apple has been devoured, she drops the core onto the ground, startling Annel who was picking vegetables from her garden. The apple tree Syrinia was inhabiting happened to be Annel's prized apple tree. Throwing a rock at Syrinia, the alarmed amazon quickly jumped off her branch and hid. As days passed, Annel attempted to win Syrinia's trust, hoping she would be able to talk to this strange character one day.
