Physical:

All of the Kmyrk start small, typically around the size of a fish egg when first born, and left alone they grow to 5-8 inches. However, over time they can force change upon themselves. Unlike shapeshifters, the changes are semi permanent, and can only be undone with great difficulty, and sometimes risk of health depending on how long the changes have been established.

The Kmyrk are shaped like rough twigs or bundled straw in a vaguely humanoid shape. They are all born with large, diaphanous wings that reflect light in rainbow hues, and can be mistaken for oddly shaped butterflies or dragonflies. They are born with four eyes, two set forward in their face and two further back near their ears. The two forward facing appear like many bipedal humanoid eyes, having a pupil and iris and schlera, but the two on the side of their heads appear like smooth gems set into their flesh, and are especially sensitive to movement.

They have short hair, each strand bearing a nerve that allows them sensitivity and control over its movement. Their hair is what allows them to conduct magic, acting rather like an antenna-sponge-tranceiver combo for the magic they control. The more of them there are, the more magic they are capable of producing and directing.

Very sharp teeth. Lots of rows of sharp teeth. Chomp chomp.

Behavior

They are highly intelligent. They are group thinkers, being extremely loyal to their clans and typically treacherous to all other comers. This is not always outwardly the case, however, as they are manipulative and tricksy. They are also vicious, and lack any form of sympathy or empathy.

Duping others and causing distress is their form of sport.

They consider themselves superior over everything on Pal Tahrenor. Due to this, they believe themselves to be holy so to speak, and will often stay hidden from the plain view of others unless shapeshifted. They tend to use misdirection to get what they want.

Origin:

The Kmyrk come from the Astral Plane. After a full clan was summoned during the Changer's War the magic needed to get them back through was closed by Theogios.

Abilities:

Intensely powerful with illusions.
Limited shapeshifting.
Adept at learning other languages and blending in.
They are capable of drawing magic through other magic users or magical beings, and can consume it in order to grow their own power. This usually kills the initial host.
Lightning quick, when hunting in packs they typically do not have a problem finding and killing prey. They prefer to kill and eat other intelligent species. They have a fondness for organs, especially brains. Each individual Kmyrk only needs to feed once every few weeks. They will not eat the flesh of magic users or magical creatures.
