Just wanted to post a quick hello to all and sundry from yours truly: the newest citizen of Marn.
I promise I'll fill out the profile and get a character application up very shortly; I just couldn't wait to get a post on the boards and get involved.
As the name suggests, a man of the cloth has arrived in the city! (I'm not sure if that's cause for excitement or trepidation.)
Looking forward to meeting you all!
Another One!
Welcome to the forums.
There may be some difficulty if you intend to make your character a native of thar shaddin since the local religion has not been developed very much yet. Any ideas about that would have to be discussed and agreed upon. Otherwise if he's a traveller, just remember that the religions on Pal Tahrenor are quite different, and the major ones like christianity would not be as popular.

Father Darroch
The concept as it currently stands is definitely for a non-native Thar Shaddinite. I'm working on the total character proposal just this minute, but as far as the religious bits of it are concerned, here's the idea:
Father Darroch has been sent east by his temple because they currently have no presence in Thar Shaddin. His youth and favoured status by their deity of choice - Toran, a god of light, life and order - are what made him the lucky candidate to establish a new bishopric. (Toranites, for the record, in no way dispute the existence and validity of other faiths.)
So far in my descriptions I've been using the standard terminology from real-life Christianity for things like bishops and parishes only because I felt other people would understand what I was talking about more readily. Rather than inventing new titles for the wheel, we can just call it a wheel, right?
Father Dorrach's special abilities are mostly of a social nature, though it was my intention for the rites of his faith to carry some small weight in the world and for him to have a resistance to creatures with a strong affinity to the astral plane (demons and fae, for example). Father Dorrach isn't of the opinion that any of the things he does are magic - they're the blessings of Toran, naturally. In fact, Toranites are very wary of magic-users because it pulls one closer to the astral plane, whence an overload of chaos might come.
Really I'm interested in playing a religious character trying to establish his faith in Marn for the social aspects and the flavour that they lend to his special powers. If what I've outlined above doesn't sound like it will fly, I'm happy to work up another character. It's not as though I lack ideas for characters in this setting.

Heya, at some point I was going to make a good character. Probably paladin-based, so maybe I can make some use of anything Toran related.
Of course, my evil character will probably do his level best to exterminate your following... No, not really. He would keep letting you convert people because he earns extra points with the Lord of Destruction if he sacrifices a worshipper of light/life/order.

If violence is not the answer, you have asked me the wrong question.
