New newest noobie

Post by Valz Malar » Sun Aug 13, 2006 6:22 pm

So here I am. I "guess" it is polite to introduce oneself before oneself begins posting about ones other online self. Politeness never got me far. So here it goes. I'm Matt, playing as Valz Malar, a generally good guy (which seems to be needed on the board, after all not everyone can be evil) who is new to the city of Marn. I'm just an average guy who used to play D&D but fell out in my late teens, now in my mid twenties and looking to get back into the swing of things. "Real life" roleplaying is hard to do an a regular when I work a job with unpredictable hours, so that is how I turned to online playing, and eventually found Thar Shaddin. Most of what I found was depressing hack and slash fantasy....until know. Which is why I'm excited, to be here and be a part (hopefully) of "this". In cas you haven't figured it out I like using "quotes" in my writing (and speaking). If it bugs you, sorry, but if you don't like "quotes" then you are a communist.

Just real quick about Valz, I was thinking that in a city the size of Marn there must be some gangs of thieves (I hesitate to use the word "guild" because it implies so much) that the locals can't be to fond of. Plus with all the vampires, wolfs on roofs, assassins, and mage hunting, it seems as if the city guard could possibly turn a blind eye towards some thieving, especially in the poorer ares around the Shanty Market. So I thought that someone (Valz) needs to bring some Clint Eastwood-esque cowboy justice. Valz would be happy to have some company, and/or opponents. I'm thinking it might be hard to post against myself, like playing chess against yourself, and even worse consequences if you lose. Anyways. so if anyone is interested, has suggestions, or just wants to say hello to the new newest noobie, then say hello...

matt.../Valz...

Well I just got a new character approved so I could post with you sometime. Her name's Molly Coles. Feel free to PM me if you want to kick some ideas back and forth. I'm off to take a nap.

Hello to the newbees, both of ye! Glad to see ya around. My characters are both tied up at the moment, so you probably won't get to meet them, but I'm always around. If you guys need anything, don't hesitate to PM either this account or Jenica Sabiny, and I'll try to help out.

Welcome to our little slice of paradise. :)

Welcome to the forums Valz. This is Frug as my main character. Look who's calling who a "communist" with that avatar picture of yours. That's pretty "communist" to me.

I am going to have to start a poll asking how people found the forums because I have no idea how. That's not a complaint mind you. I do know where you got the avatar though. Or at least who made it.

There is a thieves guild actually. It's got a place in shim across from the Red Chalice (which I just realized is still called the old black rose on the map. oy.). It's not exactly hidden though. The guard all know where it is, and it serves as a point of communication. They turn a blind eye in exchange for information and favors and such. It isn't corruption if it's for the greater good, after all. As you say, mages and vampires and wolves are far worse than thieves.

I like your vigilante idea, it could do nicely but for that you need a thief to cause trouble. You will have to gather a party. Otherwise the only two available plots I know of are one in the Ale Star and another one that is about to begin and involves raiding a town. I'm not up to date on either but the ale star thread is going on downtown, and there is a sticky about someplace to destroy in the other OOC forum.
You are confusing bets and marriages, Madam. One must always honour a bet.

1) My Communistic avatar isn't a symbol of revolution, simply a manifestation of Valz's deep anger, which is usually contained, but who hasn't stood with fists quiviring in rage??

2) I can wait to take down a thieves guild, gang, or associated group of evildoers until a better chance comes along.

3)Valz could work with Moll to find her child, that would be in his character, a tragic story, a woman in need, yada, yada, yada...

4) Raiding a town with the intent to destroy it in league with Vamps and other assorted "baddies" is probably not high on Valz's list of to do things.

Whoa. Hey, good timing. Right now I'm in the process of making a thief! Or at least a pick-pocket. Still working on him though. So you can play with Molly til I'm done and we'll see what happens.

Welcome to the board! I wanna know where all these people are coming from, too! (@_@)

Actually it would probably be more entertaining to play up Molly'ssordid past. She used to be part of a band of thugs/thieves and so on.

Its true, its true....(there are many true things) that it would be fun to play up Moll's background, no reason not to help a lady, but what happens when Valz finds out about her thieving background? Maybe anger, maybe nuttin, who knows??

As for where all we "noobs" come from, well see, when a man and a woman really love each other, or just get drunk enough, or are simply stupid (or unlucky)...well thats a story for another time, we'll just jump to a few days ago (for me). Picture me, sitting here, sifting through board after board trying to find the right mixture of openess, fun, reality (as much as can be had with fantasy), good writing skills, free, and room for new characters and it pretty much narrows it down to Thar Shaddin, or creating your own board. So here we are....rocking you like a hurricane. I should be shot for writing that down....
