Food for the Soul

Post by Brother Monk » Fri Jan 21, 2011 4:24 am

Availability: This plot is completely open for all characters.

Posting Speed: Negotiable

Characters Involved: Matthias

Location: Downtown on Main Street, Temple of Teodinus

Summary: A monk from outside of the city of Marn known simply as "Matthias" or "Brother Matthias" has recently taken residence within the Temple of Teodinus. While the current monk in charge of the temple is growing too old to keep up with the welfare of the temple, the young Matthias has volunteered to assist the elder monk. The temple has recently appeared to be cleaner than it has been in years -- the hallowed halls have been swept clean of dust and dirt, the windows have been washed to let in the light of day and the walls have been scrubbed down, the stone appearing new despite its age. The young monk is seen about the temple grounds working on the temple that has been neglected for so many years. He works without pause, his dedication bringing a refreshing look to the Temple of Teodinus.

With the temple returning to its former glory, there are many whispers in the streets of the young monk. The monk is said to be offering to listen to the confessions of the people of Marn, meeting their religious needs. Outside of the temple doors he stands ringing a bell during the day collecting alms for the less fortunate citizens of the city. It becomes known that he is willing to teach others how to read and write, showing no discrimination for any man, woman or child. It is even said the young monk is an avid chess player and a good storyteller, his stories seemingly endless. His compassion is what brings people to the temple, striving to do good and speak the words of the temple. More people come to the temple every day, more than any had in recent years, which brings the attention of many to the young monk from outside of Marn -- for better or worse.

Other Notes: This is a "meet and greet" thread, my introductory story for Matthias.

I'm almost out of a thread in the Shim area, I see no reason my character can't head to Downtown for something. I'd be more than willing to write in this thread.

Thank you for your interest!

Currently I have been plotting with Danal and have recently spoken with Skyael about a potential plot. I'm hoping we will be able to weave a story together with a few characters as everyone has their own rich background to create a good story. Let me know when you have finished with your thread and we can begin discussing how we would like to proceed further.

I think you're doing great by keeping up the posts, even though no one has joined yet. I think it's a good way to stretch your writing fingers and get back into the groove. I'm sure Metarie will visit the Temple when she has a moment or two.

Thanks Metarie. I've been enjoying writing by myself for the sake of writing and I'm content to do so until other players are ready to write with me. It gives me an opportunity to develop Matthias as a character and with him being so new, I do need to flesh him out properly and nothing helps better than simply writing.

I'll be posting again shortly, I have been very busy doing training exercises on 12 hour shifts all this past week.

Brother Monk - would there be any way for me to join in on this in some capacity? The setting looks great, and I'd really like to be a part of it.

Thank you, Ree. It was a very enjoyable time -- the wife and I went to see a Cirque du Soleil show that night, it was an amazing performance.
