Scrapyard Engagement
Re: Scrapyard Engagement
Hm . . . when she says "You're not entirely empty" it's because she believes (with her mild visual hallucinations) that she can see the old Daq's personality coming through. At least that is what her mind has constructed for her to see, so presumably (I'm no psychologist), what she wants to see. She thinks all of new Daq's concerns about having no practical experience are related to a fear that he has no sense of self or identity, so she means to say, in her totally high-as-a-kite way, he's not "empty" of personality.
Take your time posting. I have a lot going on this week.

Re: Scrapyard Engagement
Ok, sorry for the wait.
I posted. It's on the shittier side, but after a few edits, it's not too awful to deal with anymore.
I was almost on the same page with the "not entirely empty" bit, but I was thinking more generally, as if there were some essence of oldDaq that she could see still left in him, that he hadn't been entirely hollowed out.

Re: Scrapyard Engagement
Apologies again for my tardiness.
Could you provide me with a short description of the trunk's contents/arrangement before my next post?

Re: Scrapyard Engagement
Sorry for the delay; it's been a weird week.
The trunk is really an old wooden wardrobe, tipped over and halfway propped up on other garbage so that its back panel is at an acute angle to the ground. The stash is located at the lower end of the armoire, where part of a door panel has been knocked out. There are a few narrow shelves, the type intended for folded garments or shoes to be stored, where her things are tucked. There are four clay pots about the size of tangerines, with different herbs growing in them. Stuffed between the pots are small "bales" of dried herbs. Daq's box is at the end of the row of pots, partially obscured by the intact portion of the cabinet panel. On a shelf above the plants are a box of matches and three books with different subjects: theology, botany, and surveying.
Also, if I could be so lame as to delay my post any longer, could you clarify his final actions just a bit for me? What sort of reaction did he make happen? All I know is that he lunged for the cloak (presumably lunging past Pagusel) and pulled it off, but I wonder if anything happened that would seem unnatural, after his dirt-punching? Any sign of unusual activity? What hath been wrought?

Re: Scrapyard Engagement
Oh dang it. I was worried like 2-3 days after I posted that it would be totally undecipherable.
He converted some of the soil into flash powder (the white patch of dirt), which he then ignited. Obviously, this is why he squeezed his eyes shut to punch it.
His hope is that Pagusel would be dazzled by the flash for a minute or two, which would give him his window to find the item, replace the covering, and play at also being confused and dazzled. Of course, Pagusel seems to blink a lot (or at least keep her eyes half-lidded), so she might not be as dazed as he wanted her to be. In which case, she'd totally see him going for the cloak.
Also, I didn't really envision a loud noise for the reaction, so she could also potentially hear him.
Anyway, don't worry about delay.. As you can see by my erratic posting, I am also in the midst of some weird weeks.

blechh.. I was really hoping to post tonight, but I've been working super hard on this essay, and I just finished a 20+ page short story, so I'm all writing'd-out and tired.

Remember Babelfish translations?
"I believe Mister Bekkar gave dangerously little credence to the fact of his own mortality."
using Chinese, translates to:
"I believed that Mr. Bekkar has given a credit dangerously his mortality rate." Fact.

Re: Scrapyard Engagement
I suppose you could put it that way...
But, I don't see how:
"The smooth, long-fingered hand hanging decadently off the edge of the armoire looked as pale as marble in the moonlight."
became:
"Hangs corrosion large-scale wardrobe's edge smoothness, the long finger's hand looked at the equally pale elephant in the moonlight marble."

Mingusel, please take your time posting. I am hella sick, yo. I may even be joining you in the H1N1y club.
So I probably won't be able to shoot back a post for a week.

Sorry for the delay again.
As soon as I finished all of my work, I just kinda went catatonic for a few days, but I have something cooking that should be up tomorrow eve.

Oh, my girlfriend just got home from four months away, so . . . I'm not at any lack for preoccupation. Take your time.
Re: Scrapyard Engagement
Sorry I'm taking so long. I have strep throat I guess. Also have to work 14 hours tomorrow because of how much Jesus loves consumerism. Probably won't post until Christmas Eve!

Re: Scrapyard Engagement
That post was written in a slight delirium of food poisoning, so if there's anything unclear . . . let me know. Also, you can feel free to proceed, if it suits you, with a game between them. If you do, I don't mind auto-playing, and Pagusel will display a skill level comparable to the guardsman--pretty good, but bland.
