An Odd Day In Downtown Marn

Post by Illae » Thu Aug 20, 2009 11:55 pm

(not ready yet....)

The day had begun normally enough, as most days do. The world was normal--there was nothing strange about the sky, or about the air, or about the sun. No, there was nothing odd about the day itself, rather, it was the people that caused such unexpected chaos.

The setting was the downtown streets of Marn. Illae was there, and there she encountered a young Elfin man, Talion. Their meeting was brief, but discord was sewn among them immediately. They began a light argument, which soon attracted a crowd of strange individuals.

Of the group were two that caused the days events to spiral into calamity. One, a werewolf who seemed inclined to dramatics, and the other, Ilios, an eccentric man that seemed in a constant state of drunken confusion. In the middle of the town, the werewolf flagrantly disregarded the anti-magic laws by transforming into a human. At this, Ilios--lost in an imagined world of thespians--began applauding, and shouting about the wondrous, dark magic that was occurring in the group. Needless to say, the citizens of Marn were not pleased.

The City Guard was quickly summoned. What had begun as a group of around 6 individuals had dwindled to one much smaller, and now they all were running from the City Guard that pursued them for the magical offenses.

Now the scene is set, three strangers on a Marnian roof top, fleeing from arrest. They've all just met, but are now running together, unsure of where they're headed, and with the Guard in hot pursuit.

(ready or not, here I come! This is continued from some fun stuff in Chat, by the way)

Gia slumped down in the lee of the three-cornered rooftop, confident they had at least a moment's respite. She glanced out the open side of the roof and down into the street, which was clear after their mad dash through the dirty streets. She brushed a smudge off the black leather to gain a second more, then turned to the two she'd led through the charge.

One looked... hittable, which is why she'd been smacking him earlier and dragging him by the ear. granted, he had asked for it--kept wanting to sniff her and lick her. Disgusting male. If he'd smelled halfway decent then maybe--Gia shut down that train of thought. She wouldn't even be here if she'd not made a scandal back home involving her and Syordan Alexiye which included sniffing. Gia looked over at the other of her unwilling companions, a half-elf that smelled somewhat foreign. Both looked beyond confused, so in the quiet Gia spoke up over the sounds of labored breathing.

"Look... there's a few rules about this city." She started. She'd learned the rules pretty much the same way, though a kind person had insisted she was extremely drunk as she started spouting off about magic and then laid out the facts using simple words. Gia was going to try to do the same. "We're going to have to run again soon, so I'll keep it quick. Magic is a punishable offense here--you, smelly, would do well to remember that. Elfgirl, you smell a bit like magic as well, though that might just be your heritage. Anyway, do magic where it's seen and the Watch hauls you off for questioning, or they let the battle mages play with you. You don't want that."

She paused and glanced at the street below again, still blessedly free of shouting, torches, and pitchforks. They always managed to get pitchforks when magic was involved, at least in Gia's moderate experience.

Morry knew that the city was retarded about magic because he had needed to declare himself and all that jazz when he'd entered the place. Everyone was stupidly uptight about all that nonsense and often shot him looks of disapproval. Then again, he was pretty used to that since after all, the shifters in his old town were often glaring at him for being a failure and not contributing to society. Morry had never held a job for longer than about a week, so it was as a bum he lived for most of his life. He was a street-goer, but these roads were unfamiliar to him and he didn't really enjoy living here. He especially didn't enjoy being chased by the City Guard.

His poor condition had been why he had collapsed on the rooftop, clutching his chest and gasping for air; hopping roofs was hard work when you were underweight and a bit dead to begin with, not to mention confused, tired, and hungover.

The werewolf girl was talking about some magicks and things and stuff he didn't fully understand, and he scratched at his face while he breathed even though she said to keep it short. The elfgirl was a pretty thing too, but since Gia had forced him to come with them, she was the one who had his attention. Which, sadly, was not a good thing. "But..." he started, and swallowed, his breathing a little more shallow. He sat up and sort of got to his feet, but he remained hunched over and crouched down. "I don' know magic and things. I didn't do that..magic or whatever. The fuck do they want me for?!" He didn't like having to be chased without a reason. It was a miracle he hadn't been caught yet.
