RSS feed for Thar

I've gone and installed an RSS feeder on the forums because there was a problem with someone having Thar blocked at work.

RSS ( real simple syndication ) is a way to send text only news feeds and its usually used for blogs and news websites. It seems complicated but it's very simple. All RSS is is a very simple, text only version of the forums which is formatted in a standard way. An RSS reader is just something that knows how to read them.

You don't need to download a reader or install anything. Most RSS readers are actually on websites.

Long story short, you can access the most recent 15 posts from Thar from here:

You can subscribe to other newsreaders by supplying this link:

There is no way to post from a news reader. It's a read-only thing.

awesome! i'll check it out when i go to work tomorrow....... what a great idea.... work on your posts at work without having to visit/and get blocked/ the forum!!! Gee i wonder who came up with that idea....

Also it is possible to set up news feeds for particular forums. So a "downtown & business district" only newsfeed can be done if you want. I can't, unfortunately, set up a feed for a particular thread.

So I looked into it a bit more, trying to see what the best method for reading an RSS feed is. The feed burner link I provide above isn't exactly a reader. Don't ask what feed burner is for. It's not a full featured reader.

So I tried "my yahoo" and it was kinda crap. It refused to give me the whole text.

The best option I found? Google Reader. What a surprise! It's very good.

Log into your google account. Go to the google reader page. Click the "add subscription" button in the top left, and paste the following URL into it:
http://feeds2.feedburner.com/tharshaddin/ic

Voila. You can now browse the latest replies just like it was another forum. If you add me (frugen at gmail.com) to your gmail address book you can attach notes to posts and share other feeds and stuff. Very good.

That subscription is for the in-character posts only. Won't show discussions or announcements.For the whole forums use

AR threads were not showing properly in the feed (they were hidden from guests) but that should now be fixed.
