A humble board suggestion

Post by Jaspenellar » Thu Jul 17, 2008 3:19 pm

I know I'm one of the newest members, and I probably don't have much weight right now, but I wanted to throw an idea out there (which in no ways is meant to impinge on Frug whom I think is doing an outstanding job on this board)- It would be nice for players to have a place to link the stories they've participated in. Perhaps somewhere in their profile, or on their char sheet... i know you can "search all posts" by this user, which could be considered sufficient enough, but I can't help think that there is a more efficient way to read the works and follow specific characters through their stories.

Okay, I'll hush up now and go back to being a newb

Like the Summary Julen made of this? - http://www.tharshaddin.com/rp/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1139

People could make similar summaries for their characters with links, but I'm not sure how many would want to.

The summaries are a good option, but I believe those work better for a plot than a single character which is what it seems she's talking about. I think she may be referring to something like the "time journals" used on boards that use "dynamic time." Basically (here) it would be like a summary for an individual character in their entire existence on the board.

A list of threads you've been in in your profile isn't a bad idea, but I'm not sure it's possible. A summary thread, with a link to that thread in your profile, is doable.

Yes, for single characters- Say I peruse the characters section and someone looks really interesting, or i like that author's style of writing and i want to read more. It would be nice (easy) to be able to read what that character has been up to since finding Thar Shaddin. Call it meta-stalking... in the imaginary world... So kind of like your "view character sheet" link, you could have a "view char stories" link which goes to a profile page that users themselves keep updated? Just a thought.

I think it's a fantastic idea, but it would need to be something that's kept up by the player themself. Anyone is welcome to make a summary in the Town Crier forum.
