Riddles

Post by Laz » Thu Apr 06, 2006 11:22 am

The only person who I have known to answer this correctly was my dad, who did it in about ten seconds, hehe.

There is a road that spits off into two. One of those splittings leads to heaven, the other to hell. There are two men by the split, one always lies, and the other always tells the truth. You do not know which man is which or which road is which, you can ask one question to one person in order to find your way to heaven, what question do you ask.

Riddles always make me feel like a retard. Wasn't there a question like this in "The Labyrinth"? Ugh. I'd sucked in that movie.

I honestly have no idea. It never occurred to me that there might be a book, but it seems logical.

I think the book came out first, it usually does. Speaking of books, have you read thw 'wheel of time series' the first book is called 'the eye of the world' and there is eleven of them, by a man named Robert Jordan. Lord of the rings type fantasy, but written so much better, I think one of his praises was 'With the wheel of time, Jordan has come to dominate the world Tolkien began to reveal'. Brilliant books, if you havent read them, you should.

I haven't read them but I've heard about them several times. Someday I'll pick them up. I'm definately not a Tolkien fan, though I respect what he started.

My guess would be "Which road did you come from?"

Not a tolkein fan myself either. Heard of the wheel of time series a lot though.

Riddle's got me stumped. I'm really bad with riddles though, they always just piss me off. Like magicians. Magicians piss me off.

How about "can you tell me a lie about the way to heaven?"

Probably not the right answer though. You'd bette give the right answer, or I'll do to you what I did to the last magician.

Glare ominously and then walk away in defeat?

Yeah, I have no idea.

Two answers;

1) What would the other person say to if i asked which road led to heaven, if you end up asking the person who tells the truth, he would say that the liar would point to hell, the liar would lie about which way the other person would say and point to hell again, showing that the way they point is the wrong road.

2) What would you say if you were to lie, the person who tells the truth would show the way to hell, the liar, because his lies are like his version of truth, he would have to create a double lie and point to heaven, but that would be indirectly telling the truth, so he creates a triple lie and points to hell.

If you kept walking straight, between the two forks, would you go to Purgatory?

I love the Labyrinth. Oooo 80's special effects! So cheap and so obvious. But childhood all the same. She got that riddle right, didn't she? But then she still fell into that hole with the grabby hands. And I so didn't get why she didn't go back up when she had the chance. Yep........I love Huggle!! *scuttle's away sideways like a crab*
