Name:
Fu’un Me Piedra (Pronounced: Foo’oon May Paid-Ra.) Likes to be called Fu for short. He is also known as ‘The Mighty Mole’ in the underground fight currents.
Age: 14
Sex: Male
Race: Human
Height: 5’ 2”
Weight: 98 lb. 45 oz.
Physical Description:
Fu’s most recognizable feature is the fact that he is his almond shaped, pale green eyes. Although, it’s not the color or the shape that makes them noticeable, it’s the fact that he can’t see with them as he was born blind. Because of this feature he is considered weak, and his round, gentle looking face and thin body serve only to farther this theory. Underneath his clothes, however, is his lean muscular form, lightly tanned skin, the scratches and burses, and the calluses on his hands and feet shows that he is anything but.
By day, when around his family, he always is clean, dresses in neat expensive clothing, and always keeps his chin length, black hair combed, neat, and out of his face, just like the son of a noble that he is. By night and outside of his home he dresses in his ‘working’ attire which consists of brown cotton pants that stops above the ankles, black belt and arm bands, a dark green wool tunic over a short sleeved pale yellow cotton shirt (all patched, torn and stained with sweat and blood), and no shoes. His friend Rowan usually paints black makeup around his eyes before Fu enters a fight. Rowan states that it ‘makes him look scarier.’ Fu isn’t sure about this, but since he can’t see it himself he has to take Rowan’s word for it.
Possessions:
Doesn’t usually carry a lot with him, as he isn’t out of the house a lot. The only time he is out is when he goes out for a fight and that’s only a bag with food, water, medical supplies, and enough money for the entry fee to the fights.
Personality:
Doesn’t like having his hands and feet covered up as it tends prohibit him from ‘seeing’ or using his earth magic. Within his home he acts like he is the quite, shy, and helpless little blind boy his parents think he is. Outside of his home however, he is generally rude, loud, arrogant, and independent. Fu hates to be considered weak because of his blindness and when he think he is being disrespected because of this he usually tries to start a fight with this person to prove how ‘weak’ he really is. Even though he seems like the ‘attack first and think later’ kind of guy and little patients, he actually thinks his moves out completely before he makes them and will wait for the perfect time to make them.
Powers or Strengths:
Even though Fu was born blind, he has never had trouble ‘seeing’. He ‘sees’ by feeling vibrations with his hands and feet, also by listening and smelling to his surroundings. His old master Ki Chishiki found out about this ability when Fu was 3 and help train his abilities as well as teaching him how to fight. He is now to the point where he can tell a person height by listening to where they are breathing, their weight by how heavy their footsteps sound or by how much pressure they put on the ground, and if he concentrates hard enough, he can hear or even feel a person’s heartbeat. And because of this he can tell when a person is lying, as their heart tends to speed up when they lie. His master has also taught how to sense a person aura and when someone using magic.
He has found out when he was 11, with some help from his friend Rowan, with some concentration, actually move the earth. He has trained himself and has learned that he can levitate rock and throw them. He can also make the earth rise up and form into pillars, walls, or create spikes out of rock. He has also found that he can dig and tunnel into the ground. Fu doesn’t like to use weapons; he prefers hand-to-hand combat or using his earth magic. He has also helped Rowan train his abilities to control water.
Weaknesses:
While training, Fu has found that with his earth magic he can’t ‘see’ passed 7 ½ feet around him. If he uses just his regular senses he has a wider rang, about twice that of a normal human, but it doesn’t have as much detail. His pillars, spikes, and walls can’t be any taller then 5-½ feet or wider then 6 ½ feet. He also can’t lift stone that is heavier then 100 lb or dig more then 5 ½ feet into the earth at a time. Fu has also found that when he is standing on something that is not stone or earth, like wood or metal, and not within a 5 foot rang of any earth or stone, his magic doesn’t work. He has trouble detecting anything that is thrown or shot at him and when his hand at feet are not in contact with a surface, his ability to ‘see’ is cut in half.
Occupation:
Fu is the only son of the noble Frances Piedra, so he has no need to work. However, he does often participate in underground fighting tournaments. He never keeps any of the money that he wins in the tournaments and always giving it to his friend and manager, Rowan.
Goals:
He really doesn’t have any goals other then to prove to people that he isn’t weak just because he is blind and to protect his friends and family.
History:
Fu’un Me’s mother, Batafurai, and her family, The Mogura’s, originated from the far eastern part of Tian Xia. After her mother died when she was two, her father moved to Shim for a better life. Here he remarried to a woman named Sara and two years later Batafurai’s half brother, Toge, was born. While on a trip to Marn with her father and her brother to sell their crops she met a man named Rocher West who worked as a stable man at the Piedra estate. They fell in love, they were married the next year, and she started working at the estate as a kitchen worker.
Almost two years after her marriage, there was a strange fire at her family’s farm that killed her father and stepmother. 14-year-old Toge survived and started to live with Batafurai and Rocher. Unbeknownst to Batafurai and everyone else, Toge was a magic user and a thief, and for years he had been stealing books, scrolls, and magical artifacts and either selling them after he learned all he could from them. After Rocher died from his mysterious illness four year later, Toge and a small group lunched a heist on library were all the battle mages keep some of their greatest spell books and artifacts. Most of the group was captured but Toge managed to escape by killing two battle mages and injuring several more.
Toge went to his sister playing innocent and told her a verse of what had happened. Believing what her brother told her, Batafurai helped smuggle him out and into Caelteth Eyrop to escape the authorities. It was only later that she found what really happened and that that not only did he kill and plan this whole thing, but also he even escaped with a book of spells that involve sacrificing souls to make them work. Since then she has always felt regret for this.
Six months later she was still feeling the sting of regret and betrayal, she came across the master of the estate, Frances Piedra, sitting in the library stuck in a deep depression. Sensing a kindred spirit, Batafurai decided to ignore the basic rules of the household and she approached the saddened master.
Frances Piedra and his family came from a long line of noblemen that helped create and run the government. Frances had just recently inherited the estate after his father’s death. Not even three weeks after his father’s death, Frances was off looking for a wife. And he even had a woman in mind, a renowned healer by the name of Adriana Loki. For months on end he chased her, even going as far as to bribe and threaten her other suitors so he wouldn’t have any competition, but still she refused him. When he finally cornered her and asked her why, she simply replied that she had ‘had a vision of the one she would bare children for and it was not he’ before she walked away. Angered by this, Frances bribed a mage to summon a demon to dishonor her. The day after the deed was done, Adriana disappeared and was never seen again. And when Frances came out of angry haze, he began to realize him mistake and feel remorse for it. He began to sink into a deep depression.
Almost a year after the incident, a woman that worked at the household approached him while he was brooding in the library. At first he had been a bit miffed at a servant stepping out of place, but he was too distraught to care and let her talk to him. After about ten minuets later he actually tried to talk and they started to have a complete conversation. Six months later they because very close friends, so close that they actually confided their darkest secrets to each other. Even tough they didn’t forgive themselves for their sins, they forgave each other, and that was really all they needed. A year later they were married.
Two year into their marriage Batafurai gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. Although the boy was healthy, the doctor found that his eye had no developed properly and he could not see with them. Both Batafurai and Frances believed that it was the gods punishing them for their sins by taking their only son’s eyes away. This is why Batafurai named him Fu’un Me, because it meant ‘Unlucky Eye’ in her native language. Frances vowed that from that day, he would not lie, cheat, steal, or do anything that would anything that would come back to hurt him or his family anymore. He has kept his word so far, but he has made a few enemies among the higher classes.
He and Batafurai keep Fu’un Me inside most of the time so their ‘poor, helpless, blind son’ doesn’t get hurt. In order to teach his son, Frances looks for and heirs special tutors that can work with the blind. One of those tutors was an old man by the name of Ki Chishiki.
Ki Chishiki had been a solider for almost 20 years, and a scholar for the rest of his life. The reason he was hired as a tutor was the fact that he himself had a son who was blind and therefore had had experience with the blind. Fu was only about three at the time he started working at the Piedra’s estate, but right away he could tell the child had already developed the ‘seeing’ technique and started to work on improving them, to train him how to fight, how to read a person’s aura, as well as philosophy and arithmetic as he was hired to do. The two became great friends.
This went on until Fu was about nine when his mother spotted Fu in the garden balancing on the fence railing during his ‘philosophy’ lesson. Enraged that he wasn’t watching their ‘fragile’ son, Fu’s parents fired Ki and he went without complaint. This devastated Fu, but he managed to suck it up and he continued training in privet were no one was watching. Four months later while training, Fu found a hole under the stone fence big enough for him to crawl through and let him outside. Desperate to find his old tutor and only friend, Fu dressed in the clothes that Ki had given him to train in and put on a wide brim hat to hide his eyes to blend in and snuck off under the fence almost every night to search in a hope of finding Ki.
After months of searching Fu finally found Ki in the poorer side of town. He was overjoyed to find his friend and vise versa. They stayed up late and talk about their lives and what has happened in the time they were apart. What Fu found was both wonderful and heartbreaking. Ki had become a free teacher and that despite the fact that he was not being paid, he was happy, also Ki was suffering from an illness and would soon be dead. When Fu heard this he begged Ki to go see a healer, but Ki stopped him by saying that he ‘was an old man and old men die eventually.’ Ki then tried to cheer the boy up by introducing him to a young elfin boy named Rowan Vann who had happen to be wondering by that night. It had helped and the two became fast friends.
Ki Chishiki died a year and a half later.
Rowan is described as easy going, excitable, a bit of a coward, and tends to laugh at the most inappropriate times. He doesn’t like to fight but he will gladly watch a fight or even start one. He is very protective of his family and will do anything to protect them. He and his older sisters Robin, and younger twin sisters Honey and Bee, were all born in Zaekonspiere where his father, Salmon, lived. Him mother, Rose, never talked about her family much, through on a few occasions she had machined her older sister, Artemis, had left the family after a disagreement. After Salmon died, Rose packed up the children and started to head for Marn to look for work and to try to find word about her sister. However, along the way they encountered a group of trolls. The trolls brutally attack them. Robin and Rowan killed most of the trolls, except one that ran off into the woods injured. Rose was killed in the attack and Bee had broken her arm. The children found a peaceful glen near a brook and buried their mother and camped until Bee was well enough to travel before heading to Marn once more.
Living in Marn wasn’t easy for the still morning family, but they managed to get by. They move to the poorer part of the city and Robin started to work two jobs as a waitress at the Red Chalice Inn and as an assistant at a clothing shop. Rowan sometimes works odd jobs around town, but he mostly stays home to look after his sisters. He started to work more when an old man, named Ki Chishiki, opened up a free school in their neighborhood and Honey and Bee started going to it. He even attended a few classes himself and even had many deep discussions with ‘the old man’ as he called him. He and Ki became friends.
One night when he couldn’t sleep, Rowan walked over to go see ‘the old man’, but found that Ki was with Fu. That day was of great importance to him, because not only did he gain a friend but found out that he was losing another when he had learned about Ki’s illness. Fu and Rowan became best friend and they both started to train the abilities together. About 6 months after the death of their teacher (Fu was 12 and Rowan was about 15 at the time), Rowan found out about some underground fight tournaments going out about a mile outside of the city. He immediately told Fu about it the next day. Fu was exited of course and they both settled down to planed out how they would make this tournament thing happen.
Rowan somehow managed to arrange a horse for the nights of the tournaments so they didn’t have to walk. Fu would met him at their secret meeting place and then they would ride to were the tournament would be that night and take part in it. Well, Fu would fight; Rowan would just go as his manager/cheerleader. If Fu ever won any money in these fights, he always gives it to Rowan. At first Rowan wouldn’t accepted this because he thought he never really earned it, but Fu managed to convinced him that it was his payment for being his manager and that Fu didn’t need it anyway.
Rowan accepted the money and helps pay the bills and other expenses with. However, Robin is starting to get curious about what Rowan does on the nights he sneaks out and where he was getting the money he earns there. She suspects that it might be illegal, but has no proof and can do anything about it. But she is trying to find some.

Re: Fu'un Me Piedra
Please give it a good proof read. There are lots of mistakes, and the application took a little more effort to read.
The earth magic needs more detail of the limits. Eg: How fast can he reshape the earth? So far his abilities seem very powerful (throwing 100 lb chunks of earth at will is an easy way to win fights).
His ability to sense lies should not be foolproof. Polygraph tests are not accepted as evidence because they are not reliable enough. I figure an experienced liar would be able to control the physical reactions as well.
I am not sure the Weaknesses are really weaknesses, limited 'sight' may or may not count. Depending on this sentence which I do not quite understand...
There are also one aspect of the backstory which contradicts the setting.
Also, the Battlemages are powerful, well-equipped and armoured, supported by powerful magic and all kinds of defences. Taking out a group of them would not be easy, and there are not enough Battlemages for a group to be defeated without repurcussions.
I am a little iffy on the subject of a 14 year old boy being an underground fighter. Is it specifically for teenagers? Otherwise most of the fully grown opponents would be martial artists as well.

Regular senses = what exactly? If he uses just his regular senses he has a wider rang, about twice that of a normal human, but it doesn’t have as much detail.

Breaking into the Justice Hall (where Battlemage resources are kept) is not feasible. The level of security there is well and truly frightening.Almost two years after her marriage, there was a strange fire at her family’s farm that killed her father and stepmother. 14-year-old Toge survived and started to live with Batafurai and Rocher.
