Xyon of Calhoun (Xyon Xantar Kaxis) - ZI-on of Kal-oun (ZI-on Zan-tar KAK-sis)

Zebren Avern (Zebren Caltharnis Deleren) ZEN-ren AV-ern (ZEB-ren Kal-THAR-nis DEL-eren)

Elvren Sigorax - ELV-ren Sig-OR-axe

Julian Daniels - Pretty obvious, methinks.

With reference to the first two:

The un-bracketed names are those that the characters currently introduce themselves as to non-Xenetians. They will not respond well to the other name by an "outsider".

Xyon Xantar Kaxis is his technical full name and military title, Kaxis meaning "defender". Strictly speaking this should be "Xyon Xantar, Kaxis of the city of Calhoun"... which is what he goes by to other Xenetians, or Danteri.

Similarly Zebren Avern is a given name, a product of Danteri slavery. A little like Malcom "X". Zebren Caltharnis Deleren refers to his parents' original surname, Caltharnis. Deleren is a particularly spiteful title kept by the Danteri as a reminder of why they hate the Xenetians (one of many).

It means, literally translated, "Vomit-features". Although the Danteri wield it as the title "Hunter", the Xenetians will always refer to Deleren in the derogatory sense.

Which should provide a little explanation for upcoming interaction between Xyon and Zebren.

Most Quinn-related names are ripped off Comedia dell'Arte, so they're old-fashioned Italian. So, 'Arlecchina' Is pronnounced AR-le-KEE-na, not AR-le-CHI-na, which is what it looks like. Think 'Harlequin', which is just an Anglicisation of her Comedia namesake Arlecchino. Her dad Brighella is from the same box of tricks, you just don't pronnounce the 'h'. Not that anybody IC ever has or ever will call her 'Arlecchina'.

Most of her aliases - Columbina, Zanni Artix, Soubrette and Alliya Lewton - are just what they sound like.

Not that anyone will have seen him around yet, my new NPC (he was briefly in a Musical Illusions thread, but he hasn't yet properly made his debut) Zaryel Ranzenagin is again just how it looks - but none of the vowels are lengthened. It's just Ran-zen-a-gin.

Those of you who know the character Gaara from Naruto, it's pronounced just like that only with an M instead of a G.

Those of who haven't, Maara is pronounced as Mah-rah; Mah as in Mama and Rah as in Ra the Egyptian sun god.
