Summary: Mavarion, an aging warrior and sole priest of a blood cult, has chosen his successor in Krevster Darkheart. To verify the younger warrior's worthiness of this position, Mavarion monitored him while he spught of his own volition an ancient sacred item buried within the battlemage tomb inside of Shim cemetery. Accompanied by the vampire Morsereg and the humanoid feline Alalia, Krevster ventures into the depths of the crypt to discover and battle a monstrous worm. Once the battle is complete, Krevster obtains the Voice of Blood, a crimson amulet in the shape of a teardrop which provides dark guidance while worn.

At the same time as Krevster fought the worm, Mavarion communed with his goddess within the Red Chalice Inn over a glass of whiskey. Angatdan, an ancient blood god, had abandoned her origins as a god of slaughter, but was able to reclaim these sentiments with the guidance of her priest, Mavarion. In an act of good faith, she scryed to allow Mavarion to watch Krevster's progress in the battle, and then implored her priest to complete his mission soon lest her own body disintegrate and she be lost forever to nature.

Mavarion, spurred by the insistence in her voice, made for the Historic District to perform the needed ritual and resurrect Angatdan. There he met a werewolf, Gia, whom he recruited to his cause, enticing her loyalty with the promise of companionship and leadership over a malevolent force of shape-shifters.

The ritual was a success, but left Angatdan without a corporeal form. Aimless and distracted by her scattered memories, she drifted until the call of sacrifice brought her to Krevster.

Driven by the Voice of Blood, Krevster found himself a scryer within the Residential District and tortured the man for further information. Angatdan found him as he began offering the scryer's heart up for sacrifice, and as a boon cast a simple spell upon Krevster to lead him to her priest, Mavarion, for further guidance.

As Krevster began the journey to the Historic District, Angatdan once again drifted until yet another sacrificial ceremony drew her attention. In this way she discovered Phaloth, a younger priest who offered dozens in her honor and filled her with strength. Unfamiliar with this priest, she observed his work until he addressed her directly. Taking offense to his words, she overwhelmed him and demanded that he sacrifice his many servants as both penance and a test of his loyalties. Phaloth complied.

Krevster, upon reaching the temple where Mavarion performed the original ceremony, found only Gia still present, abandoned by her former master. He wasted no time in promising the werewolf similar rewards as Mavarion, appealing to the girl's innate loneliness to pull her into his service. Now with a way to track, he ventured towards the woods to seek out the scent of the priest and further his own path to glorious slaughter...

To intigrate the three new players, Anga will be sending them on a mission to find Krevster, her warrior.

Other Notes:

Anga does not assume the European form of a dragon, she assumes an Aztec form. These things are broad and muscular and essentially seem like walking pillars of stone. For an idea of the head, check this out:



More often than not, they did NOT have wings, or the wings were made of feathers. Anga is ganking a European feature for the wings (her purest dragon form doesn't feature wings). I think it's a good example of the symbioses this plotline will create, between European and Latin American traditions

Just a couple of ideas I've randomly had. They are literally just things that popped into my head, so do with them what you will:

1. As I mentioned to you in chat, I'm more than willing to have Anga interact with Krev in whatever way you would like. She *can* touch, but only briefly and with little pressure. She can manifest but will still be transparent/translucent, depending on how focused she is. She can speak and project images/memories directly into his head. This would also apply to Mavarion, so Dave, if you want her around just let me know.

This would be a good way for either one of them to see how the sacrifices used to be made and what the ceremonies looked like. Anga will not take the time to actually explain these ceremonies; it is her priest and worshipper's responsibility to figure it out. But she would show them things if they asked. She has the memories, it just takes her a bit to sort through.

Anga's mind is completely scattered because she has no way to center them. There's no physical brain to sort and organize the thoughts, so they are everywhere. If she were projecting into someone's mind, the character would have the ability to see *anything* you would want him to see - old ceremonies, ancient events, moments from her own life, the god's realm - anything. It would also give the character the opportunity to see through the eyes of a god. Emotions dulled save for the ones they represent. Petty, fickle and selfish. Entirely distanced from mortals; inability to see individuals, but rather views the entire world as one whole with pieces the god likes to manipulate, control, or recieve worship from.

The most important thing to a god is worship and recieving praise. These are what grant the god strength. Any actions which are done with the god's condonement/praise are acts of praise. This includes any cruel acts that Mav and Krev have performed involving slaughter/war, or sacrifices in her name. Please note this does not include *any* cruel acts, just the ones she represents/condones/loves/encourages. Small acts of cruelty are just that: small acts of cruelty. These reaffirm the character's own evil but don't concern the god.

In terms of Krev, the best way to get to know a character is to throw situations at them and see how they would react. Let's take a hypothetical, whether or not it could happen is moot:

Krev is walking along in the woods and comes across an injured child. Let's say that a large rock has pinned the child's leg down. What would Krev do?

1. Help the child

2. Kill the child

3. Sacrifice the child.

From what we've discussed, what do you think he would do? Number 1 would involve recognizing that the child needs to be saved and acting upon this impulse. What would cause him to do this? What is the thought process involved for such a cruel man?

Number 2 is a small act of cruelty. Fun as hell to play but not much meaning beyond the sheer evil of the act itself. It's bad to kill children - Krev recognizes this as a cruel act and does so. Therefore he reaffirms to himself his own evilness.

Number 3 involves some foresight. He looks upon the situation and realizes that it's a perfect opportunity to offer up a sacrifice to his god. He prepares and sacrifices the child for the purpose of offering worship and honor, and perhaps recieving a boon or at the very least her good favor. Still an act of evil, but with far more consideration and rationalization behind it - it gives the act itself meaning beyond just being a cruel act.

Still thinking, but these are what I have thought about so far.

The biggest things to remember about those superstitions are:

Luck is very very very important.

Lots of them have to do with violence/blood (Evil Eye, for instance - this is about wishing really really bad things on other people).

Tradition and history are paramount.

What do we plan to happen next people?

My idea is once the scryer is sacrificed, Krev can become Mavarion's apprentice and they dedicate an altar to Anga - which serves as her anchor so she wont fall apart, so Krevster can grow towards becoming a blackguard/Demonsworn (with numerous warped tests along the way).

So other stuff would be gathering worshippers for the blood-cult, possibly members of the Skull & Hand, but also NPC followers.

Finally, simply our characters working on their unholy magic.

Thoughts? What would people like to do?

By the way, one thing I am looking for in Krevster's spiritual development is the inclusion of the Gods of Wrath - The dark side of nature. Storms, Destruction, Conflagrations, Earthquakes. Fury, random and spiteful violence. All that fun stuff. So unholy guidance he receives would ideally be in that direction. I figure this would be important if a mentor-role is planned.

I am assuming that Phaloth can "see" what form Anga has taken. She is still invisible to the naked eye, as she has not manifested. Think of what she's doing as more of gripping the cells themselves and applying extreme pressure to them. Which I'm sure is a delightful experience.

Since this thread's only two pages I'm going to go ahead and just modify the first post to summarize the plot. If any of you would like to add to or modify what I create PLEASE don't hesitate to let me know!

So yeah, I wasn't interested in joining this before (and didn't really have a charrie that could) but when I read the synopsis and the other threads I did. I had a brilliant idea. Or maybe it's brilliant. Raishel is sort of like a scryer... but a little bit beyond that. I would want to edit her before bringing her out again, but if you guys think it's also a good idea, she could join the blood cultists. Whether she realizes she's with the "bad guys" or not doesn't matter, but they can use her for their own ends. Basically, she "sees" things, past and present (very rarely future, if at all). Present as in, traits of someone, or sometimes magic. She'd be a little unpredictable, but if they figured out how to read her (Dr. Greydock--I think I named him that--took extensive notes on her in the Asylum... might be a good chance to explore that area of Marn, which hasn't been done) she would be a very useful tool. She also needs someone to take care of her, or else she'll die (she doesn't eat or sleep on her own).

And I was wondering, what should Gia be scenting for? Should she be hunting for Phaloth? That was what I was understanding, but I have her just following a scent that is like Mavarion's, because that's what she thinks priests smell like.

Gia actually does have a motherly instinct (and she can get extremely protective). She also likes it when people depend on her, as long as she has orders herself. Just something to think about if Raishel was to be brought into the storyline.

And to Phaloth... in my most recent post, with Gia holding back her excitement at Phaloth smelling like Mavarion and her getting perhaps a little too close (she wanted to lick him like wolves gret each other, but thought that that might not go over so well)... feel free to teach her a lesson. A smack, or something else, go right ahead. She needs to learn that not all who smell like Mavarion will like her.
