A baby, an induction, and the waiting game...
Today's the day! My girlfriend was due on Sunday, but the baby's decided not to show. So I am sat in the antenatal ward waiting for the induction gel to take effect.
It's going to be a long day...

Eeeeee!!! Oh, you MUST let us (me me me) know when, how much he weighs, everything!!! And pictures. I *demand* pictures!
Wish your girlfriend well. All of the ladies I know who were induced actually had a very good birth, relatively speaking. Tell her that if/when they offer the epidural, TAKE IT TAKE IT TAKE IT.

She also said you're slightly crazy.
She learns fast...

Well, the gel doesn't seem to have worked.
They are about to examine her to see if they can break her waters.
As soon as the department's only doctor comes out of theatre, that is...
*waits*
*waits longer*
*gives up and does it himself*
Screw the NHS.

To give him his full name:Lylessa Uluki wrote:Aw, what a cute baby! Congratulations!
You've probably said this before and it just slipped my mind, but what's his name?
Luke Isaac John Bladen
The mother's doing ok. I was in a bit of a daze when I posted the above, sleepless nights being VERY true at the moment, and so didn't get to explain.
After the placenta was delivered, she suffered a rather large - litre and a half, in fact - bleed from the blood vessels that used to supply it, having evidently not realised that it had since departed the uterus.
After an agonising few minutes, the doctors stabilised her, and she was able to hold our son properly for the first time.
Short version, as my baby boy is about to wake up for a nappy change, the bleed has left her anaemic and quite ill. She had a transfusion on the Friday night, and came home last Saturday.
I'm doing well, and coping with a whole different kind of insomnia now. The look in his eyes when I pick him up is enough to keep me smiling all day.
I have to jump.
