I love Stephen King's writing style, but I honestly haven't read too much of his work. I can say with full confidence, though, that Apt Pupil is one of the most profoundly disturbing things I've ever read, and I had to put that novella down several times.

Also, The Green Mile had me in tears at least 3 times. I have his short story collections, but only a couple of his actual books.

I read the Green Mile when it first came out over here, while on a 9 hour ferry to France. It is such a great series/now book and I'd recommend at least the film if you are not a reader to everyone. The Shawshank Redemption is one of King's short stories and one of my favourite films. The dude is so underrated for his writing style and his story telling IMO.

I read the Dark Tower series way back when he hadn't finished it yet. I think I read up to 3, then 4 came out, and then it was several years until he wrote 5, 6 and 7. I'd like to read it again, but all my spare money is being spent on school and food.

Koontz novels. I think I've read about 90% of them, except for most of the new ones. Try The Bad Place (seriously fucked up), Watchers (*shudder*), Strangers (slow at the beginning, but OMGITROCKS!), and The Voice of the Night (a book about kids... fucked up kids). Those are among my favorites, but they're all really quite good. There's another one, I think it's called TickTock... but I can't remember. Anyways, I liked the one I'm thinking about, and I take no blame for leading you false with that title.

Hm, Wizard and Glass is a strange one, but as the Wastelands (DT3) leaves you on such a cliffhanger, I dunno how you wouldn't at least read the first few chapters just to see what happens. ;)

I'll check them out when I go and get my results. There is an awesome second hand book store near my college and I remember seeing loads of Koontz there. :D

Though I'm more geek than nerd I just had to pop in and say: WOO! GO NERDS!

I always wondered why people got called nerds. I mean, I played sport at school, was a fan of fantasy and intelligent (always got high grades all round) yet never got called a nerd.

Yet, because I read fantasy and know a lot about the stuff I read (because that's what happens when I read stuff, I er... remember. :p) I get called a nerd online.

It's just weird to me, I thought I was more a nerd at school. And why don't football fanatics get called nerds for knowing everything about their team, etc?

Just a thought, it doesn't bother me at all. I kinda like being a nerd, it means I have hobbies. :p

If you just know a lot about one subject and obsess over it, you're a geek . . . unless the subject is athletic, or sometimes if it's music, you're a fan(atic). Oh, and usually to be a geek it has to be a pop culture entity you obsess over. I think if you are nuts about Socrates or J. S. Bach, you're not a geek . . . just . . . something else?

So in high school, you can be a nerd about some things, but as long as you're an athlete, that helps to not get labeled a nerd. Interestingly, band geeks are called geeks, but they're totally nerds. Oh, and also in high school, who you date helps your status. Drama nerds and band geeks were always hooking up with each other. Simply being sexually active doesn't work against nerd status! Being sexually active with cool people does. REMEMBER THAT, KIDDIES.

Also, God still sees it even if your hymen is intact!

Also, two condoms isn't better than one!

Happy nerding.

I never understood the difference between nerds and geeks. :| Still don't.

I also find it ironic that someone ONLINE would call me a nerd. :p

Also, tampons break the hymen and I don't use condoms. I have the coil.

This didn't go off topic much did it?

(o_o) Is this gonna turn into sex talk?

That wouldn't surprise me, looking at [horny and hardcore] Harry Potter fans. They write tons of gay porn. Seriously. (>_<) My friend's one, that's how I know.

According to dictionary.com nerds are obsessive while geeks are just annoying. Geeks are also:
3. a carnival performer who performs sensationally morbid or disgusting acts, as biting off the head of a live chicken.

It was bad enough a thread with the title of this series has so many posts in it here...

But now that the gay harry potter porno fanfic has come up, I really want to make this die.
