Borrowing Back Taken Magic
Re: The Drunken Rat
We could do something like we did with Xeis and just have Alcippe be in the wrong/right place at the wrong/right time and Tsai could suspect her of spying on their plans.
Or we could leave the house looking for someone to replace our dying thief.
Just an idea but I think when we go to actually steal the book that we should start a new thread, call it something like Borrowing Back Taken Magic or something so that it fits with what is going on in the thread.

If you left the house, it's possible Alcippe could stumble upon you on her way into town, and then join you venture. I almost think that might make the most sense.
He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you.
Re: The Drunken Rat
I was thinking that too, maybe we should hurry up killing Cimmy and then start a new thread as we leave the house, where we bump into Alcippe on our way to Justice Hall.
I had another idea, not sure yet if I want to go through with it or not but I might want Tal to get caught as they are fleeing with the book. Since he is crippled, it would make sense that he would run at a much slower pace and be less likely to escape any pursuers, especially if it happens to be near dawn by the time they get out.
Also I want to note that Porter is crazy and he/it will be sure to mess with us while we are inside trying to steal the book.

I also wanted to bring up the fact that Talion is smoking, this doesn't mean too much but if you want to have your characters react to the smoke in the air from the drugs I will tell you a bit about them.
He smokes the leaves of a green plant with dark purple veins in it. Within the veins lays a natural state of magic. When smoked, it does such things as changing your eye color and increasing your magical ability. Other effects from the drug would be similar to being on a combination of marijuana and lsd.
Enjoy.

Re: The Drunken Rat
Just wondering, who should play Porter as an NPC? Tov would you like to do it or do you want me to do it? I would ask Frug but then we would get a post like once every week or so, he is in enough threads as it is and doesn't need to add this one to his list.

Now that my school is done, I can play porter for you and post more than once a week o.O

Re: The Drunken Rat
Hey people, I think I'm back from my wild adventures in Moscow. But now I've got really bad internet and my host mom doesn't really want me on the computer at all for some reason, so I'm restricted to this nasty school internet, which I have access to on Saturdays and Thursdays.
So I'll try for as best as I can. I can't reason with my host mom--she's gone all mean on me recently, can't figure out why, I haven't even been here to piss her off--but I would be grateful if Phil would be amazing and play Porter. As my details are still slightly sketchy about his powers (or maybe they're not and I'm just lazy and lacking decent internet) that'd be lovely.
As it is, I'll get a Tsai post up now and we can work out details. Or should we start the new thread?

I say we kill Cimmy and then start the new thread when we leave the house.

Okie-dokie. Kill my thief... darn. Just have to find another one.
I'll finish killing the kitty if you haven't--I haven't had a chance to check the thread in a while, then we can move on and drag Alcippe into the fun.

Re: The Drunken Rat
Okay so I wasn't sure what to do at first for a market but from what I have read in other threads Ming has described one as being near Justice Hall in a crowded alleyway and Frug has described one as being more open somewhere near the historical district. I thought that the cramped alley one might be better and easier for them to find seeing as they all are outsiders and don't know the city very well.
This is what Ming wrote about it.
This is what Ming wrote about it.
Buoyansie tripped along at a quick pace over the cobblestones on the small road between the stately Temple and the Civic Court. A young female clerk pacing the Court grounds waved a hello in acknowledgment of the gnome, and Bosie batted her fingers in hasty response. The quicker path to her destination would have taken her past the Justice Hall, but just past the Court, Bosie took a sharp turn to detour through a dirt alley that was lined with stick-and-canvas stalls. As she trotted through the miniature bazaar, she reached up to help herself to a blue plum from one of the vendors, who bared her teeth in a falsely gracious smile. As long as none of the government employees who wandered this little-known alley had a problem with the vendors, they might yet escape taxation on their sales.
A staggered arrangement of shabby wooden fences blocked the mouth of the alley so that one had to wind this way and that to exit, and, looking behind, could hardly see where one had been. Bosie glanced about to gather her bearings and bit into her plum, which was a large enough fruit in her hand to constitute a fine snack. She discovered she had southwardly overshot her destination, and she took off to the north at a more relaxed pace while enjoying her plum.

Ooh, good to know, Nia, that's really helpful!
I'm out for this evening on a seminar, hopefully will get my next post up tomorrow.

Re: Borrowing Back Taken Magic
I need to take a brief hiatus.
My younger teenaged cousin is in the hospital from an apparent drug overdose. At this point, he has very little brain activity and it does not look like he is going to make it.
I'm sorry. I hate to slow things down or leaving things finished, but for the next couple of days... yeah, this is going to be hard.
Feel free to skip me for a few rounds. Posting this message in all current threads.

Take as much time as you need, family is more important. Take as much time as you need. I hope your cousin can recover from this; I wish the best for him.

Oh, god. Yeah, like Nia said, take as much time off as you need. My brother had the same kind of thing a few years ago, not quite as severe, but he pulled through. I hope your cousin does as well.
