You could try changing your identity. And lying low. Really low.

Re: Happily Ever After
I'm a little confused.
- How does Fayane know that Derin can switch bodies? Even Megalone's brief accusation would be half-intelligible in the excitement ('demon' is an extremely vague term, it wouldn't surprise me if it covers several extraplanar species and even among Derin's people there is huge variation), and he didn't mention anything like that.
- Why would Fayane think that Derin escaped the inn? Megalone's a freaking battlemage and she's a farmgirl. She'd be well and truly captured if he hadn't found Kori so irritating.
- How much does Fayane know about Megalone? He's an experienced, high-ranking battlemage and she's a newbie; most of what she'd heard about him would be rumour and legend. Has she seen him in action enough to know that he's extremely good at sensing magical items? Or is she really influenced by rumour, perhaps?

Re: Happily Ever After
Those are actually really good points. Cause if Fay knows a lot about Melagone, she really can't think I destroyed him in combat. She could almost go with me distracting Mela long enough for Derin to run, but that's not a very high probability. Was there some kind of dossier that Mela and Fayane got with key information on Saruna and Derin before they went on this mission maybe?

Re: Happily Ever After
Such a dossier would basically read like this:
Saruna Rischett:
- Frail old lady. Long-term resident of Shim. No criminal record; previously married to criminal magic-user. Suspected of sheltering criminals.
Derin Edala:
-Traveller. No obvious dangerous capabilities; no known criminal record (even if the Guard bothered to send somebody out of the area to check on her, which is pretty unlikely at this stage, there's not much to see; just a woman travelling around). Suspected magic-user; suspected of being able to 'curse' people (method unknown but involving the blood of the intended victim, consequences unknown).
Not much to work with there.
