Aura smiled and nodded. "I'll meet you here, early morning. Just bring anything you think you'll need. I'll have food and water ready. Marie makes sure I have more what I'll actually need before I got out, and if I tell her I'm bringing a friend ..." She giggled at the thought of the mountain of food Marie would likely provide.

She bid her friend goodbye, watching as the dwarf walked away down the street in the darkening night, then turned back into the inn. She slipped gracefully through the patrons, pausing to talk quickly with one of the serving girls, then hurrying into the kitchen. Marie was there, and Aura told her of her plans. Marie was surprised and pleased that Aura was bringing a friend, and promised to make a basket of food for them to take with them.

Aura turned and walked off to her room once she and Marie had finished. She came to her room, flopping down on her small bed, and lay back with hands behind her head, leaning against the headboard. She looked around at her room without really seeing it. Her eyes traveled over the bureau where most of her clothes were, the small desk and chair with the mirror attached to it and the pitcher and washbasin on a separate table. The room was neat, swept clean, and well-kept by Marie and Jarrett. The single window overlooking the backyard, where the stables were for any who came with horses, was clean and easy to see through, with some of the best glass available.

After several long minutes of introspection, Aura stood, making her way to the washbasin and pitcher, pouring some water. She stripped to her underwear and gave herself a quick wash with the fresh cloth Marie had left on the table. The wash got the sweat of the day and the feel of the fight and the street off of her.

Putting on clothes more suited for sleeping in, Aura got under the covers of her bed. She turned out the lantern that Marie had left burning, and sighed contentedly as she curled up on her side, one arm under her pillow. In moments, she was asleep.

Breda felt already half-asleep as she walked towards The Content Merchant. Afterwards, she wouldn’t have been able to recall a single detail about the trip. She felt relieved when she finally reached the front door of the whitewashed building.

The dining room was still crowded as Breda stepped in. The innkeeper did nonetheless notice her as she made her way towards the stairs, and nodded a greeting from behind the bar. Breda waved her hand in response, and squeezed past a couple of tipsy goblins sitting on the stairs.

Fortunately her room was near the top of the stairs. She walked slowly to the other side of the room, sat stiffly on the bedside and reached clumsily to undo her bootlaces. Bits and pieces of the night’s events were swimming through her mind, making her smile and shake her head. She also thought briefly on the injured person on the alley, and shuddered. Gods be with you, whoever you were.

The small wardrobe on the other side of the room felt too far away: she threw her clothes on the chair next to the bed and snuggled under the blanket. The room was already chilly, and it took her a while to stop shivering. Pulling the blanket over her head, she drifted asleep listening to the murmur of sounds coming from downstairs.
