That's so true, since coming to Thar I've raised my standards quite a bit. I also believe I've greatly improved in my own writing. Oh and if you can believe it, I've actually been rejected from two other rp sites in the last year because I "wrote too much and I made characters that couldn't hold their own in a fight."

Or sad. I've never seen the point of combat-central freeform rps. Either they have a strict combat system, in which case they would be better as a more formalised rp type, or they don't, in which case they're almost unworkable and rely on far too much metanegotiation.

But maybe I'm just not into that sort of thing. My characters' fighting ability ranges from "will have a heart attack if you pull a knife on him" to "can probably hold her own long enough to get away" unless required by the character type (such as guards requiring basic combat training).

Haha, yeah I didn't realize that one place was so into fighting when I signed up, there was no emphasis on it mentioned in the rules or setting or plot or any of that. And yeah, I got rejected from them because a good deal of my characters take the "shit pants, scream like a little girl, cry, hide behind somebody else and run away" strategy.

Hello! The name for all intents and purposes on this board is Starless. I've been roleplaying online for about 7 years on and off. For a few of those years, I attempted to admin for my own RP boards but they never got off the ground. So for now i'm more than happy to be just one PC among many. I've also been a member of all kinds of RP boards, but I always come back to Medieval Fantasy RPs since that's where I got my start. I just turned 18 in may and my major is Animation. Hey guys,
I've been hanging around the forums a few days awaiting Character approval so I thought I'd come and introduce myself. First off, Yes the double D in my name is deliberate, it's so I can join other forums and things, plus is more unique then just a single D (Even if it is a spelling error, all those spelling Nazis are going to have to live with it), and is proof that I am bonkers .
I've been playing freeform RP's for almost two years now, although my main area was sci-fi until recently. However, I do enjoy fantasy just as much, and was very impressed when I found the Thar site recently. I think freeform is far more fun then all that GM based RPing as it offers far more choice and, well, freedom.
If you haven't seen my char you can have a look at the sheet from the right link. If anyone needs clarification let me know and I'll try and clear it up.
I'm looking forward to RPing with you, and hope to join you in the forums soon.

I don't think I've introduced myself. My names Corey, I play Viking-type warriors a lot, and I got tired of rp sites with alot of drama, so I looked on the google and came here.
