Summary:
The Geezer has spent his life doing dirty deeds. Always figured he'd work for the Trivisana until he died. Now the Trivisana have dragged the one-legged grump from his pig farm, plunked him on a wagon, and told him to take some useless bric-a-brac from Apthoni to Qadis. Nothing suspicious in that at all.
The Guard has spent his much shorter life dreaming of glory, hunting down the odd bounty, and aiming to make a big name for himself as a mercenary. It was a very slow month for his kind of work, so when the Geezer put up an ad for some simple guard duty, it seemed like a good way to get a paid trip to Qadis where work might be more plentiful and rewarding. What could possibly go wrong?

With Geragio approved, I'm working on a first post to get us started.
There are a coule of ways we can begin:
1) in media res, with a segue straight into an action scene
2) at a more calm pace, with a travelling slice-of-life feel, and build up to an action scene when we want one.
Which would be your preference?

2) Would be preferable, but I'm completely fine with an action scene straight off!
I think slice of life could lead to a bit of character development before the action.

Jotting this link here so I can find the info easily
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk%3ACa ... _carriages
Rather than go balls-to-the-wall pedanticism, I'm averaging out the trip of 1400ish miles to take approximately a month.
Something we might want to consider doing, whenever needed, are little timeskips in the narrative between points of interest in the journey where something out of the usual happens.

Re: Eyropa: Guarding Geezers
Feel free to brainstorm ideas as to the kind of events we can timeskip to (prior to the first major on-road ambush from assassins later in the thread).
Some ideas off the top of my head:
- trouble at an inn
- chance encounter with an acquaintance of either character
- <insert ideas here>

Perhaps we could have maybe bandits making a tax/toll road sort of thing.
Maybe the road could be in disrepair and we'd need to take a detour.
there could be a flooded stream or river they were forced to ford.
I'll think of more things soon.

Re: Eyropa: Guarding Geezers
That sounds like a good time. Some enterprising criminal knuckleheads taking advantage of a damaged bridge and enforced detour is just the kind of thing to ruin anyone's day.Erin Venri wrote:Perhaps we could have maybe bandits making a tax/toll road sort of thing.

Would you like me to incorporate a time skip in my next post and set the scene for something like that?

Posted.
Depending on your preference, we can have the bridge damage from natural causes, or we can have Erin notice something about the damaged bridge which suggests human sabotage. You can decide
