Name: Varanghar.

Age: 30.

Race: Human-Giant.

Height: 7' 4"

Weight: 485 lbs, and mostly muscle.

Physical Description: Big, burly and bearded. Stands head and shoulders above most others, with a brawny physique to more than match. Fair hair of the shade of pale wood cascades down in warrior's braids reaching as far down as the shoulders. Dominating his face is a massive beard and moustache, the edges of the long moustache trailing down past his chin while the great beard hangs down past his throat, ending at the centre of his chest.

Wears thick maille in double-layers, over a padded coat died purple, along with a purple cloak as a mark of position. Arm rings are worn, on his fingers. Larger armlets are worn on his thick limbs, displaying gold and silver above the maille armour.

Personality: Boisterous and lively,

Motivated by pride, holding himself to high standard. Only pride without malice. Supremely confident in himself, acting and speaking with doubtless ease, therefore casually friendly in his demeanor. Enjoys his own accomplishments and insists on respect from others, happily extending the same in return.

Posessions:

Halberd - A polearm combining axe and spear, with a hook on the back suitable for grappling and pulling horsemen to the ground. The long spike is useful for thrusting techniques, while the mighty axe blade strikes powerful blows that can break through armour. Metal rims reinforce the long handle, making it able to parry chopping weapons without difficulty.

Double Maille Hauberk - Worn in a knee-length coat of steel rings linked together, with full sleeves and at least two layers of the metal rings. Extremely resistant to blows, with the reinforced pattern can withstand even heavy impact. Can still be bashed through with moderate resistance, mostly granted by the padding but the outer metal is still helpful.

Combat Features:

Reach - Between great height and long-handled weaponry, is able to strike foes far away. Makes good use of this, holding the range with measured thrusts.

Short Haft - Close foes are bashed with the haft of the weapon, much like a quarterstaff. Numerous clubbing blows or haft thrusts can be used to daze a foe and force them back to a more favourable range for the giant.

Powers or Strengths:

Giant Strength - Able to match physical power with trolls, to the extent of flinging normal sized men one-handed like ragdolls. Can carry his own weight without difficulty, and throw half of that with respectable accuracy.

Hardened Flesh - Difficult to harm, with skin that is difficult to cut and ignores small weapons. Combined with armour, this is powerful protection, rarely suffering serious injuries even from direct hits. Standard harsh treatment is meaningless to him, as the typical cuts or wear or abrasions simply do not happen.

Weapon Master - Was once a champion of the Western Empire. Very difficult to best in skill at arms. Clearly outmatches all but the most incredible fighters.

Weaknesses:

Cumbersome - Limited in flexibility and mobility by his size, and is less capable of feats of agility. Obviously has trouble fitting into tight spaces, and can be outmaneuvered by serious efforts.

Feasting - Eats roughly 3 times as much as a regular man, due to his massive size.

Sleeping Giant - Needs more sleep than normal men, on average 11 hours to be fully rested. Less than 9 hours and he begins to suffer the effects of short sleep.

History:

Part of a family tradition of Imperial Bodyguards, with his father being a Personal Guard to the Emperor himself. Given fine training and growing great and mighty, Varanghar soon took up his father's tradition and was sworn as the bodyguard to the next Emperor.

Only the Imperial Warguard of the Emperor were sworn to the position of Emperor, not the man on the throne. This was what proved Varanghar's undoing.

At the assassination of the Emperor.

The Emperor was attacked by his direct heir, the Warguard rushed to their master's defence, only to find the Emperor dead. The Warguard immediately swore loyalty to murderer of their charge. "Alive they would have defended him to the last breath: dead there was no point in avenging him. They had a new master now."

Varanghar refused, instead choosing to avenge his lord. In an instant, he had split the murderer in two.

For this, he was expelled from the Warguard and banished from the Empire. After all, the third Emperor of the day was grateful for his actions but could not allow the presence of one who had killed an Emperor.

From here, he travelled to Thar Shaddin, and was swiftly recruited by House Anstrun, who offered him position and purpose akin to his old post.
