Player Name: Alalia
Name: Aeryn Cooper
Age: 25
Race: Werewolf
Height: 5’6”
Weight: 150 lbs
Physical Description: Aeryn is of average height for a woman, but is dwarfed by most of the guardsmen. She is solidly built, with broad shoulders and lean, defined muscles. If she had taken up a normal female profession, she would probably have been amply curved, but harsh physical training has burned away almost all of her body fat, leaving her with a fairly flat chest. She has an angular jaw and strong chin. Her teeth are healthy and white against her tan skin, and her nose is small and round, with a bump on the bridge from where it has been broken. Her grey eyes peer out from under a mop of sandy-blonde hair that hangs a bit below her ears, which is usually sweaty and sticking out in all directions from being under an arming cap and helmet, giving her a perpetually bed-headed look. She has several scars, the most important of which is the bite scar just above her left ankle from when she was turned.
When Aeryn transforms, she is fairly unremarkable looking, for a werewolf. Her coat is a dull brown-grey, and her eyes turn into a wolfish yellow. She is of average size and bulk, just like her human form, and doesn’t really have any distinguishing marks.
Possessions: Guard armor, hand and a half sword, various knives, and small wooden vials of sedatives.
Powers or Strengths:
Sword-fighting- Aeryn is skilled with a blade, and her hand and a half sword is her most prized possession.
Martial arts- Aeryn isn’t especially proficient in unarmed combat, but she knows a few kicks and punches, just enough to make it inconvenient to mess with her.
Werewolf strength, speed and agility- In her human form, Aeryn still retains some of her supernatural physical abilities. She is stronger, faster, and more agile then normal women, but she has to be careful with it. Although her abilities are only about equal to a well conditioned human man of her age, they are significant enough to raise questions.
Healing- Moonlight heals Aeryn’s wounds, as long as it is touching her. She does not heal on the new moon.
Weaknesses:
Firearms- Perhaps it’s the animal in her, but Aeryn is none too fond of loud noises. Screaming and breaking things she can handle, but shots are too much for her. This is much of the reason why she doesn’t carry a pistol or anything of the like, despite their effectiveness.
Silver- Obviously, as a werewolf, Aeryn is allergic to silver. Moonlight can’t heal any wounds inflicted upon her by silver weapons, and she can’t wear anything made of silver.
Werewolf- Despite the benefits of being a werewolf in human form, they can’t balance out the fact that she transforms into a ravenous, murdering beast during the full moon, and has to go through great lengths to hide what she truly is.
Sedatives- In order to restrain her other half, Aeryn takes sedatives before her transformations in order to keep the beast docile. However, normal herbs are not enough to keep her numb and unconscious throughout the shift, so she has to obtain mixtures that have had the effects of the herbs magically enhanced. In order to prevent her suppliers from asking questions, she has had to do some dealing with underground mages.
History:
Aeryn was born to a farming couple that lived on the outskirts of Shim. Due to complications during pregnancy and labor, her mother could have no more children after her, but her parents didn’t mind, as they had a healthy baby girl. Her first few years of life were uneventful, monotonous even, filled with chores and lessons and the like.
However, when she was six, the trouble started. One full moon she snuck out to look at the moon and stars, as the night sky had always fascinated her. But as she lay in the grass staring upwards, a werewolf caught her scent. Slinking through the grass, it was nearly upon her when she heard it. Screaming, she jumped up and ran as fast as her short legs would carry her, but the wolf soon caught her and, lunging, sunk its teeth into her ankle.
Fortunately, Aeryn’s screams of fear and pain alerted her father, who ran out of the house with a hoe. He managed to land a few blows on the wolf before it decided its prey was not worth the trouble and fled. Picking up his now sobbing daughter, her father carried her back to the house where he bandaged her leg, scolded her, then allowed his wife to put her to bed.
The wound healed without any trouble, and it seemed that the incident had past. However, during the next full moon, Aeryn’s parents were once again disturbed by their daughter’s cries of pain. Running to her room, the watched in terror as their child writhed in her bed, crying out as she turned into a wolf. Fortunately, her were form was still quite small, due to her youth, and before the transformation was complete her father scooped her up and shut her in a crate. Her parents watched and listened all night as their daughter snarled and howled, the wooden box shaking as she through her small form against the sides, trying to escape.
The next morning, when the sun rose, Aeryn’s parents realized all the noises had stopped. Slowly, they opened the crate to find their daughter, human again, staring up at them, bruised, frightened, and very confused. They knew that they should hand her over to the government and have her disposed of like all magic users, but she was their only child. Therefore, they resolved to hide her, clearing out one of the cellars and strengthening the door. Every full moon, they locked her in the cellar and waited for the sun to rise.
As she got older, Aeryn began to understand the danger she posed to her parents, and when she was 18, left for the city. She had heard of rings of illegal mages there, and hoped she would be able to find someone to help her. However, there is no cure for a werewolf, as she soon learned. This made her furious. She could not understand the good of magic if it couldn’t help people. However, one mage offered the advice of taking sedatives to incapacitate her beast side, and she obeyed.
Soon after, Aeryn joined the guard, her werewolf strength and stamina helping her to push through training that not many females could endure. However, she had to be careful to hide her true nature and to not draw attention to herself, not failing, but not succeeding with flying colors, either. Once she made it through training, she became a guardswoman, but the threat of discovery still lingers. However, as a guard, she is able to take her anger at the loss of her humanity on other magic users, who she can pretend are the were who turned her or at least knew it.
