(22:03:24) Luca_Abernathy: Oh, can we start with a chase scene? =D
(22:03:43) Luca_Abernathy: A dropoff has gone wrong, and they need to get the fuck out of dodge in a hurry?
(22:03:43) Saruna: ooohhhh yes
(22:04:02) Luca_Abernathy: Kick it off with a big parkour-through-Qadiz sequence of posts
(22:04:07) Saruna: why has it gone wrong? intervening gangbanger?
(22:04:27) Luca_Abernathy: Contractor
(22:04:45) Saruna: did someone put a hit on sir pussywhipped?
(22:04:57) Luca_Abernathy: No, someone put a hit on the client
(22:05:12) Luca_Abernathy: And it succeeds, with the assassin waiting for the couriers to arrive
(22:05:17) Saruna: so why are our characters being chased? to keep them quiet?
(22:05:28) Luca_Abernathy: Client was so paranoid they wanted the documents sent in two parts
(22:05:36) Luca_Abernathy: And yes, silenced and the documents retrieved
(22:06:01) Luca_Abernathy: So the contractor is a small team
(22:06:10) Luca_Abernathy: maybe 3-4 people
(22:06:22) Luca_Abernathy: Working for <not sure>
(22:06:32) Saruna: eh we can work on that during the thread
(22:06:54) Luca_Abernathy: Pure coincidence/misfortune at this point that Ximeno and Zi get caught up in it
(22:07:03) Saruna: story of their lives
(22:07:08) Luca_Abernathy: Luck of the Courier, as it were

(22:07:17) Katona: ):
(22:07:27) Katona: Sucks to be them.
(22:07:30) Saruna: always shoot the messenger?
(22:07:40) Katona: Just have them die.
(22:07:42) Shade: Poor messanger
(22:07:53) Luca_Abernathy: Especially if the messenger has the Thing that the Antagonist wants
(22:08:02) Saruna: come now, we must properly torture them first!
(22:09:09) Saruna: wanna start in a particular part of the city?
(22:09:24) Saruna: you know.... you know what would be fun?
(22:09:26) Luca_Abernathy: That's the chase scene! They must escape multiple pursuers (Let's make one or two a shifter just to be extra fucking cruel) to make it to one of Clarencia's safehouses
(22:09:36) Luca_Abernathy: What?
(22:09:42) Saruna: we have to start somewhere
(22:09:57) Saruna: commissioning one of the fancy mapmakers at cartographersguild to do us up a map of qadis
(22:10:00) Luca_Abernathy: We can be vague unless you have a specific idea in mind

(22:10:14) Luca_Abernathy: Oooh
(22:10:16) Saruna: I wanted tos tart somewhere concrete so I can has descriptions
(22:10:47) Luca_Abernathy: That might be beyond me right now but we can come back to it
(22:11:27) Saruna: yeah I'd have to wait for my next paycheck but I thought it'd be cool to see what general cost is
(22:12:01) Luca_Abernathy: Get some quotes, for sure
(22:12:26) Luca_Abernathy: The first thing we should figure out is who the now-dead client was
(22:12:55) Luca_Abernathy: I'm thinking nobleman and/or merchant with a penchant for illicit dealings
(22:13:04) Saruna: ;et
(22:13:06) Saruna: let's go merchants
(22:13:14) Saruna: I feel we've got a lot of dev on noblemen already
(22:13:28) Luca_Abernathy: Shady merchant it is
(22:13:38) Katona: Merchants are awesome.
(22:13:38) Saruna: and with qadis being a big port trade city, merchants would be good to have on hand
(22:13:55) Luca_Abernathy: Now, what kind of documents would a merchant get SUPER paranoid over
(22:14:11) Luca_Abernathy: Where he'd want it sent in two halves so as to be useless if half was intercepted
(22:17:00) Saruna: some kind of backroom agreement that's been signed?
(22:17:09) Saruna: perhaps breaking or bending a prior contract?
(22:17:26) Luca_Abernathy: Ooh, a contract. Yes, and one for non-legal dealings
(22:17:48) Luca_Abernathy: Thus the heavy-handed approach by the 3rd party antagonists
(22:18:05) Saruna: something that might result in fiscal damages or the duchy or city seizing property of some kind?
(22:18:12) Saruna: if it's discovered
(22:18:26) Luca_Abernathy: A contract which, if achieved, would have infringed on someone else's turf?
(22:19:01) Luca_Abernathy: Let's say a business transaction is a cover for some kind of smuggling operation
(22:19:20) Saruna: so by turf, are we talking a market that someone else has a stranglehold on?
(22:19:25) Luca_Abernathy: And this one merchant wanted access to a bigger pie, so struck a deal with a competitor to his current 'agents'
(22:19:38) Luca_Abernathy: Think criminal enterprise
(22:19:57) Saruna: you mentioned smuggling, so I was thinking incoming or outgoing goods
(22:20:09) Luca_Abernathy: Yeah
(22:21:25) Luca_Abernathy: So, current thought diagram:
Merchant Deadman was working with Smuggler A, but didn't like the profit margin. He decides to cut a deal with Smuggler B, who is a competitor of Smuggler A. That's the Contract in 2 Parts.
(22:25:10) Luca_Abernathy: Now, the tricksy part is this: I don't want Smuggler A responsible for Merchant Deadman's death. I want this to be a complete surprise to them because potential plot twists. Instead, I'd like the Antagonist to be someone who wants to fuck over Smuggler B, because they have something to lose from them gaining more market share in smuggling circles
(22:25:20) Luca_Abernathy: But that's about as far as I have gotten
