by Ysole
Name: Ysole Fornsworth

Age: 25

Race: Human

Physical Description:

Image

A young looking woman with luring almond eyes and a polite plump smile. Her skin is rather fair for such a hardworking woman, looking barely sun kissed despite the work she assists her parents with. Her hair is cocoa brown, usually tied in what appears to be a sideways ponytail or the rare day off will be left down to drift in the wind. Hazel eyes are constantly kind and curious.

Normally her clothes are plain and lightly colored with a simple apron to cover it. These clothes are normally home made unless she is asked to dress up. She then takes out a rather old but still pretty leafy green dress with billowed sleeves and a white ribbon laced across the chest. She wears worn in wooden shoes and normally goes without jewelry.

Just outside her window she grows various flowers and often trades with the neighbors for scented pieces to clean her laundry. Therefor she tends to smell often of garden or lavender, mixed with the mints and spices she uses when she cooks her meals. Needless to say it is rare that she smells foul.

Possessions:

Riddles - One of two animals that Ysole owns, Ysole owns a small ram she fondly calls 'Riddles'. His fur is a cream color laced with a caramel, his horns sturdy but smooth as if somebody kept them polished. He's a loyal sort of fellow despite male goats having a nasty habit of headbutting. Ysole can approach him no problem but anybody else usually gets a headbutt to the groin.

Misneach - Misneach {courage} is an old shire horse that was given to Ysole by a moving neighbor. Apparently, the bashful man had decided to try his fortunes in Marn instead of Shim yet could not take his loyal horse with him nor could he afford boarding. So he did the next best thing and gave it to Ysole, the woman whom he secretly was trying to woo for the past five years and she apparently never noticed (Friend zoned anyone?). Still Ysole looks after the horse and uses him often to get back and forth from Marn. He's a rather intelligent animal and will often help drive the sheep back into the barn despite never being taught how.

Farm & Land
Though technically not hers yet, when her parents take a dirt nap Ysole gets the farm and land. The farmhouse itself is rather old looking but quite sturdy, keeping the worst of chills and wind out though it still tends to groan and whistle on the darker nights. The wood itself is withered by the wind and rain, turning almost grey with age while the wooden roof shingles have turned nearly white.

The land itself isn't large. In the far back corner is a barn with a five sheep, two goats, and Neach along with a small and medium sized pastures. Closer to the house is large vegetable garden with an outside oven not more then a few feet from it. A rickety cart is usually seen parked near the larger pasture and worn parked behind the barn. A pond holds the closest corner to the front right, filled with a couple fish that were caught and kept.

The farm is placed closer to Marn then Shim and is actually neighbours with Drayel. She tends to get intimidated by him however so Drayel doesn't really know her. Ysole currently lives with her parents so she can help them with the farm.

Book: Ysole often carries a book full of sketches and cheap blank pages so she can write/sketch whenever an idea hits her. Though it isn't the best grade of paper and it tends to take her a bit to find something to draw with, she treasures it greatly. To her, the characters within the book seem almost like family while the battles and moments were their life story.

Powers or Strengths:

Strong: Due from working on the farm, Ysole has quite a bit of muscle on despite it being invisible. She is able to lift rather heavy things (such as a bale of hay or an averaged sized sheep) and often stuns viewers due to her rather weak appearance. Still, she's also pretty embarrassed of her strength (T'is not lady like to throw sheep around after all) and will do her best to hide it.

Kindness: Not really a strength or a weakness, but it's one of her more noticed traits. Ysole is incredibly kind and will often try to help out anybody she believes is in need of it. This also however adds to her naive nature and often gets her ripped off but despite knowing she's gotten played, Ysole is one of those people who keep giving. It will undoubtedly bring a smile to her face and a giggle to her voice, no matter how small or large the deed was.

Courage : If push came to shove and one of her students were in trouble, Ysole would gladly wield a stick in an attempt to save them. She will fight (rather poorly mind you) as many as it takes or as large as they can go if she believes there is absolutely no other way. She doesn't seem to realize size and number tend to alter the likelihood of winning a battle until she's in the fight, then its too late.

Book Smart: Being a teacher, Ysole is well taught in enough in Math, Languages and other subject to teach them to children and teenagers. Her history is a little weaker than average but she dreams to one day be more of a story writer than a teacher. Often she's seen carrying books and a pencil to either sketch or write, a pleasant smile always flashing across her face.

Patient: Ysole has a rather lengthy amount of patience. She is able to sit back and calmly think things through when things get strained. When she snaps however, she tends to get rather fiery and not only verbally give them a lashing but tends to leak their dark secrets (that she knows for sure are true) to the world while she screams. Not a very nice woman to get angered.

Weaknesses and Flaws:

Klutz: If not on horseback, Ysole is a complete klutz. It isn't often she isn't found without bruises or scrapes, dirt on her clothes and a rather fluster look on her face as she often looks around to see who saw her trip or fall. She is able to fall over absolutely nothing, the smallest of pebbles, and will more or less naturally find the potholes in the road. She also tends to read while she walks which as you imagine, does not assist in her falling less.

Can't fight her way out of a paper bag: Ysole has few to zero fighting abilities. On the offhand that she does fight, its usually out of assistance or sheer luck that she gets out of it a winner. She will stand her ground verbally however on any given day and will most likely win but any physical battles and she may as well kiss her hindquarters goodbye.

Naive: Ysole tends to look at the good of people rather than the bad to the point where she actually doesn't seem to understand that some people are actually bad people. Perverted comments, she pushes off to jibes whilst any crook or cranker she usually finds some excuse for them and will go her own way. She also seems to think nothing bad will happen to her, no matter how many times the guards warn her not to ride at night or how many close calls she runs into.

Near Sighted: Ysole is very near sighted. She can see crystal clear until approximately an arm stretch away from herself before things begin to blur. This tends to get rather dangerous at night as she can't see who is coming down the road and this also adds to klutzy behaviour.

History:
Even as a child, Ysole was in love with books. Every night, either her Mother or her Father would sit by the fire with her and read from one of the few storybooks they had. Over and over they read from the books as a family, she would sit on one of their laps while the other held the book and read. By the young age of seven Ysole was able to not only recite the stories off by heart but was also able to create her own adventures as exciting as those she'd read.

At school it was no different. Whilst the other children ran and played, she would often use a long stick to draw sqiuggles in the dirt. Each squiggle was a character. A knight, a thief, or even a common farmer that soon went on adventure that carried them to danger and glory. They traveled through Borgais mountains, across plains as far as the eye could see. Dragons, trolls, devils, and even the undead tried to take their heads and failed. Crossing the lost seas, they battled a sea monster so large its head seemed to scrape the clouds. So lost she got in the fighting and glory she often didn't hear the teacher call for her nor that the sun would set low on the sky.

Sometimes she would even go on the journeys with the heroes, shouting words of encouragement as she herself killed a monster. Leading them through the dark tunnels, claiming lost treasure and magical weapons as they went. Yet never did she lose her own sense of reality. Optimistic as she was, she still helped the chores and knew when things were tough. When the money got tight and they were forced to sell their cows she once again imagined the heaps of treasure she'd fought so hard for and wished it had been a reality.

As she grew older, her imagination slowed but never quite vanished. Though she no longer uses a stick and dirt, she will often carry around a small book of blank paper in which she will sketch out characters and battles as they play out in her head. Little by little, the characters become almost realistic and the battles nearly legendary. For the first time, her parents could lay eyes on Sir Glaid of the Evergreen Castle. They could see the horrifying monster that creeps around the filth in Fa'iuth Swamp. Despite the growing talent though, she knew they needed money and a steady job. So Ysole began to teach.

In the beginning she would walk the hour or so journey to get to Marn and back, her feet aching and her postured hunched when she returned home. It only lasted perhaps a month before her young neighbor began to notice and promptly began giving her rides in his cart. Back and forth, they began to chat and grow fond of each other until (in Ysole's opinion) they became quite close friends. With each passing day of work and the occasional odd job, Ysole began to help keep the farm up and running a little better despite her parent's aging bodies.

Once however, Ysole was nearly sure she'd lose her job. A richer father of one of her students had come in just after school ended, shouted at her for something of a misunderstanding and promptly demanded rather unfairly that she push his daughter through the class with a much higher grade then was even believable. Twice she denied his demand and by the third he began to turn purple and slammed his hand on the desk, leaning forward until their noses almost touched.

Panicked by the sudden noise and close proximity, she slapped him hard enough that he staggered away. Stunned by the sharp stinging in his face, the father gaped at her before cursing and bellowing his furies. The ruckus brought the presence of a guard who'd patrolled not far away. Coming in to investigate, the guard was given the entire event along with flying spittle. It was nearly a minute before the guard finally gave the man a crack in the nose himself, demanding he leave and no longer bother Ysole else he'd get arrested for disturbing the peace. Whether by luck or by the guard defending her name, Ysole kept her job somehow but often she'd seen the father skulking around with an icy look in his eye and a crooked nose.

It wasn't long after that incident that her neighborly friend decided to move into Marn, selling his farm and all but his horse in order to start a business in the city. She remembered it was foggy that day when he came riding astride Misneach, finding her almost easily through the thick air. He told her what he'd done, claimed he simply couldn't run the farm anymore and handed her the reins of the large animal. She was startled at first, trying to give him his horse or bargain with him but was denied of both. In fact, he gave her a sad sappy smile and just nodded his goodbyes. Since then she's rarely seen him within the city, his dirty face looking grim as he tried hard to make his failing business work.

Midway through a year of teaching, she was introduced to a new boy student who was to enter her classroom. Scruffy with little manners, she soon set it her goal to befriend him and turn his ways in hopes of him being a gentleman one day. It sort of worked, the two of them quickly becoming thicker than thieves and his manners did slowly improve but it wasn't until she learned the two of them were neighbors did she realize who his father was. Drayel Morig, the grumpy guardsman who'd punched the other man in the nose was apparently also her neighbor.

Nowadays however her life is quieter. If she isn't teaching or helping at the farm, she will find a nice quiet place to sit and sketch or simply will take Misneach out for a run. She's also come to notice that once and a while if a sheep is missing, usually Jackal took it on him for an 'adventure' which usually means he takes it home with him for the day until his Father notices and forces him to take it back. Not that she or her parents really mind so long as the sheep is returned.

With a childlike heart and a rather adventurous view on life, Ysole is rarely without a skip in her step or a smile on her face. Perhaps one day she'll bump into the man she'll love, or even some friends she'd never expect to have. Either way, she was more than eager to wake up each day, wondering what sort of adventures lie on the road that day.
