Name: Yancuican
Age: Ancient
Race: Noitu
Height: 9’2”

Personality
  • Yancuican is a wise and reasonable intellectual, revered by his people.
  • He is very calm and polite, never raising his voice regardless of the circumstances.
  • Unsurprisingly, he is staunchly religious and tolerates no blasphemy from his people; however, he shows patience with non-believing outsiders and does not force his beliefs.
  • Yancuican follows Worm Basilisk Noitura’s commands ruthlessly and without question. If his master commanded him to murder his closest friend, he would do so in a heartbeat.
  • He tends to be exceptionally creepy.
  • Though Yancuican detests Tzalxochitl, he has fond memories of living there before his reign.
Physical Description

Grand Prophet Yancuican, acting leader of Noituratan, is one of the most grotesque of the Noitu. Standing at over nine feet, his form consists almost entirely of rotted tentacles – a central tentacle serves as his torso, and two smaller ones serve as his arms; a writhing mass of tentacles acts as his legs. His head resembles a decaying starfish with tentacle-shaped arms and a fanged, gaping maw at the center. Algae and coral cover most of his body.

His clothing contrasts his monstrous appearance. Yancuican dresses in religious robes reminiscient of those he once wore as Tzalxochitl’s ruler, adjusted to offer room for his numerous tentacles. Unlike other Noitu officials, Yancuican refuses to wear fancy gemstones and metallic trinkets to assert his status. He always carries his royal staff; carved from bone, it bears Worm Basilisk Noitura’s emblem – an upside-down, tentacle-headed humanoid wrapped in gauze – as its headpiece.

Yancuican often conceals his tentacle head with a magical mask while on the surface; the above picture depicts him as such.

Strengths

Yancuican strongly opposes physical violence, so he will only use the spells and attacks below when he has no alternative.
  • Telekinesis – Yancuican is especially gifted with telekinetic magic. He may accomplish various feats with his mind alone, such as levitating heavy objects up to the size of a house. He may also levitate people, though they may resist if they have strong mental fortitude.
  • Water Manipulation – Yancuican can magically manipulate water like most Noitu, shifting it into a variety of forms such as waves, orbs, and so on. Most Noitu can only cast basic water spells such as creating small waves, but Yancuican is so powerful he can bend a whole lake to his whims. His water manipulation is second only to the Senior Minister of Arcana. Yancuican obviously cannot manipulate water where it is not present.
  • Electricity Manipulation - Yancuican has the ability to imbue water with electricity, thus making it highly damaging and potentially lethal. He cannot wield electricity on its own - it must be used in conjunction with water. As this could likely kill an average person, it requires a lot of power and can only be used infrequently.
  • Noitu Summoning - Yancuican may summon a handful of Noitu to fight for him. These Noitu were crafted by Worm Basilisk Noitura specifically for Yancuican's use. They are capable fighters with above average strength and claws and tentacles to use against opponents. Notably, these creatures are not sentient - they are under Noitura's control, and he may even turn them on Yancuican if he so desires.
  • Regeneration - Yancuican's tentacles may not be durable, but they can reform in under an hour if they are severed from his body. This also applies to his head, so decapitation is not necessarily lethal for him. His wounds heal far more rapidly than an average person - a serious gash, for example, could heal in a few hours as opposed to weeks.
  • Tentacles – His tentacles are dangerous weapons that can be used to smother and strangle opponents.
  • Phasing – Yancuican has the unique ability to enter a state between the Astral Plane and the physical world, thus making him appear as a projection. While in this immaterial state he can teleport anywhere in the immediate vicinity. This spell requires an extreme amount of concentration and inner calmness, so it is impossible for him to use it while under attack.
  • Strategist – Yancuican’s leadership roles over the centuries, both in political and military settings, have shaped him into a master strategist.
  • The Theocratia – Noituratan’s secret police answers directly to him. Two Theocratia officers serve as his bodyguards at all times. Of course, the Theocratia also answers to a power higher than Yancuican.
Weaknesses
  • Glass Cannon – Despite his exceptional magical talent, Yancuican cannot withstand many injuries. His flesh can be torn and damaged rather easily, so he prefers to avoid combat whenever possible.
  • Worm Basilisk Noitura – Noitura’s influence over Yancuican is so great that he can read his every thought. If Yancuican ever goes against Noitura, Noitura will alert the Theocratia to eliminate him immediately. Though Noitura allows Yancuican a lot of freedom, Yancuican must always put Noitura’s agenda before his own.
  • Incredibly Conservative – Yancuican is almost always opposed to any change within Noituratan. If anyone seeks political or religious reform, even if it is for the best, Yancuican often shoots it down. As such, he is wary of Noituratan’s outreach to the surface world, even though he acknowledges it is unavoidable. He is willing to cater to visitors from the surface, but he will not allow their culture to infect Noituratan.
  • Long-Sighted – Having been alive since shortly after the Changers’ War, Yancuican has taken to thinking in centuries; as such, he often overlooks immediate consequences.
  • Overly Patient - Yancuican's preferred plan of action is inaction - instead of dealing with a problem early, he prefers not to waste resources and instead hopes it sorts itself out. He generally only deals with problems when they become significant issues.
  • Blind - Yancuican does not have eyes, so obviously he cannot see; however, he makes up for this through his tentacles, which are able to magically sense his surroundings. Still, this ability does not fully compensate for his lack of eyesight.
