Name: Terro Marson
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Occupation: Independent Fisherman
Physical Description:
Standing at about 6’1”, Terro is a physically fit and healthy individual, caused by the life of an outdoorsman. His dirty blond hair is most often done up in a sloppy ponytail, and is shoulder length when let down. His eyes are what strangers normally notice first though. The Caucasian’s eyes are a kind bright green, and tell a story of hard work and honesty. When Terro looks you in the eye, it is difficult to be upset with him. Paired with his generally upbeat and sincere attitude, he has a disarming aura about him.
There was a time in his life in which Terro would wear a cloth sack with holes cut in it for everyday life. Those days are over now, and he can be usually be seen wearing moderately fancy clothing, at least when he is at the market or on business. His favorite thing to wear in the market is an olive green tunic covered by a black vest, a set of white trousers, and a pair of comfortable black leather gloves. When Terro is out fishing, he usually wears a white shirt with billowed sleeves and a brown set of waders that go over some trousers.
Strengths and Advantages:
Level Headed: Terro Marson is a very thoughtful individual, and tries to see situations from every angle. He will not make any major decision without the most information possible. Some view this as being indecisive, but Terro sticks to his decisions once he has made them.
Fisherman’s Instinct: Terro has been fishing along the Ofriyu Mar for the majority of his life. When his parents could not afford food to feed him, he went out with his father and learned the tricks of the trade. While his father was not all that skilled at fishing, Terro excelled at it. He knows some of the best fishing spots along the Ofriyu Mar, and the most dangerous spots. If he found himself around any unknown rivers or streams, you can count on him to find you something to eat.
Weaknesses and Flaws:
Unspoken: Unless he is at the Marn downtown food market selling his catches, Terro does not like to be loud or advertise his opinions. He prefers to be silent and listen to what others have to say in purely social situations.
Melee/Ranged Combat: While he understands the common sense side of swordplay, he has no training or experience in melee or ranged combat. Gnome firearms are too unpredictable for Terro to handle. So far, the fisherman has had very little need of these skills.
Homesick: The Ofriyu Marn has been so deeply woven into Terro’s life, he considers it a sort of home. Everything in his life has almost completely revolved around that river, whether it be the food he eats, or the small amount of money he makes at the Marn downtown food market. When he is separated from the Ofriyu Mar for a large portion of time, Terro is subject to extreme anxiety and panic attacks. This easily distracts him from his work and has rendered him almost completely useless in the past.
Magic and Powers:
Attract Wildlife: Over the years, Terro has discovered he has the ability to attract a desired type of wildlife to himself or an object within a few meters of himself. So far this power has only worked on small animals, nothing bigger than the average dog. After careful examination of this magical power, Terro has concluded that he is conjuring a scent from no where that attracts a desired species. The range of his power is iffy, depending on how the wind is. Too little wind, and the scent has a very small radius. Too much wind, and the scent is scattered into nothing and covered by other scents picked up by the wind. The same theory applies to the water.
He has also discovered that he becomes increasingly fatigued after repeated use without sleep. This magic is a great stress to his body and actually makes him prone to sickness. Too many close calls with deadly sicknesses has taught him to use this magic less often. While he has never used it on a shifter, Terro highly doubts that it would work at all. Humans and other sentient beings are completely unaffected by this magic.
Property:
-Fishing gear, including several types and lengths of rods
-An old notebook used to record good fishing spots, places that are dangerous, and general notes on whatever he deems important
-While he does not own the deed to the land that his shack sits on, he lives in it and nobody bothers him about it
History:
Terro was born in a shack. The shamble of wooden planks was located on the east side of the Ofriyu Mar, just downstream of the ferries. Living in the single room shack were his mother, father, and older brother. His older brother, Obreck Marson, was seven years older than him. Terro’s father was hired to stack stools and sweep the floors of the Red Chalice Inn after closing. He earned next to nothing, and at times, it was not enough to sustain his family. When Terro became old enough his father taught him to fish. He taught Terro about the swimming meals, most commonly called fish, and how to catch them.
Terro’s older brother Obreck turned to thievery to keep his family alive. Occasionally Obreck would join up with a band of delinquents in Shim and break into houses. One day, Obreck just didn’t come home. His family knew that it was dangerous, and warned him not to steal. The told him that everything they needed was in the river. It is assumed that Obreck was killed during a burglary.
During his teenage years, Terro watched his parents become frail. His father passed away from malnutrition when Terro was 16 years old, and his mother passed the next winter. All alone, Terro was left to fend for himself. He became a better and better fisherman all the time, and eventually started selling his extra catches in the Marn downtown food market for some coin. He was only close to starvation only once, around his 19th birthday. The fish weren’t biting and he had no leftover money to spend on food in the market. He sat for days on the riverside, but caught nothing.
Near death, Terro was lying on a soft patch of grass along the river. He was too weak to wade out into the water to fly-fish, and knew he didn’t have enough time left for bait fishing. Half conscious, he began to notice a slight glow coming from the water next to him and his gear. Terro started to dismiss it, as his head wasn’t all there. Then he began to hear the fish. Hundreds of fish of all sizes gathered at the riverbank. In moments there were so many that they began to fly up onto the bank. A decent sized fish landed right next to where Terro was. With all his might, Terro picked the fish up. With an almost animal instinct, he bit into the fish. As disgusting as it was, it was necessary to survive. Weeks later, he discovered that he could make such things happen with the fish by will. The stronger he willed the fish to come to him, the more fish would come. The Ofriyu Mar is now a part of who Terro is, and their fates shall forever be entwined.
